Following a hit and run in a parking lot to my otherwise pristine Chevy Tahoe, AAA suggested Professional Touch Auto Body in Scotts Valley as a preferred shop. The administrator was very polite and efficient to schedule the inspection appointment. Day of appointment, I called because I was running late by about 30mins (and she had already given me the latest time they normally take) but she was still totally cool about it and said they'd make it work. At the shop, the estimator was also friendly and efficient. I asked her straight if this shop is any good or are we going to have some hassle if I'm unsatisfied. she told me she's been working there 20+ years and they do excellent work. I then met the manager, Brian who also politely assured me the repair would match even with my concerns of matching the factory paint in shade or sunlight or night/streetlight-parking lot lights/etc. I told Brian I'd pay more out of pocket and call AAA if needed to make sure any repairs were done at the highest level with OEM parts. Brian seemed politely confident that he could take care of it to my satisfaction. He also helped me with my motorcycle hauler during my drop off and pickup as that was my shuttle method. They finished the job ahead of schedule and when I closely inspected it during pickup it exceeded my expectations. It is perfect. The inspection happened the day after I called them. They had the job done in 2.5days with no added charges or hassle. Professional Touch Auto Body did an outstanding job while providing excellent customer service throughout the process. The whole experience not only fixed my vehicle but really helped eliminate the hassle of the whole vehicle damage event. They do excellent work and have a great company culture. I'm VERY disappointed this time around. This is our second time at the shop, and the first time, they were awesome. They called me as soon as CSAA was told we wanted to use them. Was a bit dismayed at having to wait almost three weeks for an appt, but ok. Took the car down today only to find out the appt was only for the ESTIMATE! 30in to take pictures. Why that could not have been done weeks ago is beyond me. When asked, they said they were too busy. Unbelievable. So we have to wait at least another week to get the car fixed. read more

I sent my car there for repairs. The initial estimate was for $6K, the final price was over $12K. Fine, the insurance company is paying for it. It took them over a month to fix it. Fine, I had another car to drive to work. They have 3 ladies working the desk and none of them know what the other is doing or even what is going on with your car. One would call and say the car will be ready tomorrow. "Tomorrow" another would call and say it'll be ready the following day. The next day they'd tell me it would be ready by noon, then another would call and say it'll be the end of the week. Then the next week they said it would be another couple days. I finally said, "Just tell me when it's ready!" Then they called and said come get the car. I get there and they say, there's one more part to install but it's on back order but "it'll only take 5 minutes to just snap it in." A few days after the car is home, they call and say the part is in but I need to schedule an appt and it'll take 4 hrs to install the part. "Oh, the person who told you it would take 5 minutes to snap it in was wrong." Well, I live 45 minutes away. 4 hrs is a lot to sit there and wait for it. But if I take it there and come home, it's 1.5 hrs round trip AND I need to find someone to go with me and bring me home. Then 4 hrs later, someone else and I need to spend another 1.5 hrs to go back and get it. Why didn't they just wait until it was done to tell me to pick it up! I was in no hurry to get it back. But now, since I can't find 4 hrs of spare time and a friend who also has 4 hrs of spare time, they're going to send the part back. They have already been paid for the part and the labor to install it by my insurance company!!!! Don't bother taking your car here and don't believe anything the office staff tell you. read more

I've waited to post this review. If I could give this place a big zero I would. I took my truck to these guys for a slow roll over repair. The truck sat on its side for 24 hours so all the fluids leaked out which was expected. The initial quote from the insurance was ~21k damage with a big part of that the air bags. They assured me they would take it to Ford in Santa Cruz for topping off the fluids. I left the truck with them and assumed it was being repaired. Fast forward six weeks later and I get a call from the salvage department telling me my truck is being salvaged! They said the bill was up to 36k and I needed a new transmission and possibly more!! This body shop never once contacted me before hearing from the insurance!! The truck is a 2020 F150 that has 24k miles on it and 40k after market equipment on it. Little did they know we own the vehicle and paid cash for it. I called BS on everything they said. Long story short I took the truck to capital Ford and the transmission and everything else is perfect in the truck. It was 6 quarts low on transmission fluid which is expected! And it was never topped off! Not 11k for a new transmission! The truck went to another body shop and was fully repaired for less than the initial insurance quote! And it was fully repainted a different color. Totally stripped and everything painted! Capital Ford gave it a clean bill of health! This place is a total racket!! Most people have a loan to repay and are forced to take it! I did not! So they total the truck, it goes to auction and sold for 19k. It's bought at auction and repaired for less than 20k and sold for 80k with all the after market upgrades! Total total sham!! Stay away from this place!! Total ripoff!! read more

I took my baby- my 2015 fully loaded black SXT Plus here after an encounter with a mudslide. I was worried, but I shouldn't have been- I just picked her up and my baby looks brand new. WARNING: If you have Professional Touch work on your car, and they put any parts on it, know that if the parts fail, Professional Touch WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK NOR REPLACE THE PARTS. They will say that it's not their fault that the part is bad and try to make you deal with the warranty on the part and then not refund your money. I took my car to Professional Touch to have some peeling trim pieces replaced that were looking bad. They replaced them, but then shortly thereafter, the pieces that they replaced had failed and looked worse than ever. We took it back to Professional Touch, they agreed that the parts looked bad, took photos and sent the photos to whoever they bought the parts from. The word came back that to replace the parts with the warranty, I (me, not them) would have to drive to a Toyota dealership in San Jose where they purchased the parts so that they could be examined, on the car, in person. I asked for the contact and phone number and called over to San Jose to question why I (me, not Professional Touch) had to bring the car over and they said that their hands were tied and that was company policy and that I should push back on Professional Touch. I agreed and that's what I did. I brought my car back over to Professional Touch and asked them to go ahead and take my car and deal with the warranty themselves and replace the parts. They refused saying that they didn't have the staff to do that. Well, guess what, either do I. They said that they could give me the receipt for the part (since THEY BOUGHT IT) and I could take it to Toyota Santa Cruz. I said that I didn't see why I (ME!) should have to do that. Shaine says, "I held up my end of the bargain." Really? You replaced a failing part on my car with a faulty part and then I am supposed to bear the burden of making it right and dealing with the warranty on a part that I, myself did not purchase and/or have the receipt for? Incredulous. So, seeing that I wasn't going to get anywhere with them actually doing the right thing and getting my car fixed properly, I asked for my money back. He said that he wasn't authorized to do that and would have to talk to the owner. So I waited the rest of the day Thursday, Friday and on Monday morning I called back to ask if he had talked to the owner and he said no. I told him that I would give him until the end of the day to get back to me on my refund or I would share my experience. IS THIS REALLY HOW a LOCAL BUSINESS should TREAT a LOCAL FAMILY??? Shaine was very rude, non apologetic and said to me this morning, "I don't know why you're mad at me, I didn't sell you the part, Toyota did." Hmm, funny, because I have a receipt from Professional Touch for replacement of 2 trim pieces and I am charged for parts and labor; I have NO RECEIPT FROM TOYOTA. Bottom line is that if you want to roll the dice having your car repaired by Professional Touch, be prepared to lose. read more

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly... The Good: Helene, the secretary, was very nice throughout the process. The owner was also quite nice, refunding my deductible because of the shoddy work his men performed. They did make it right after a month-long ordeal. They also saved me 3,000 or so miles on my car due to the length of time it took them to get it right. (I'm an optimist.) Hertz has conveniently located counter in the office also, which is nice. The Bad: My car had a gash on the roof so I took it here. I picked it up and all seemed fine. (Except for the grease on my front seat and a couple of marks on the paint from their equipment. In fairness, these were easily buffed out.) When I got home and looked down on it from my yard, I could see through the paint to the primer and perhaps bondo. Also, it looked as if only half the roof was painted when the whole thing was supposed to be. I took it back in, waited another week or so and drove by after hours to check on the progress only to find that they had now scratched the back window. The Ugly: They did replace the window, so to speak. Again, I stopped by after hours only to find a cheap window put in with little splotches of white all over it that seemed to be inside the window. At this point, I realized I had to bring in my insurance agent to handle it, so she went down to the shop to actually inspect the work. They put in a good window and I came to pick it up. The tires looked low and the light on my dash has been on ever since. In Fairness: My Mom took her car here and they did a great job. Also, the owner did tell me his best painter was out at the time. However, that is no excuse for this low level of work quality. They did make it right after all and, as mentioned, saved me thousands of miles on my car. In Summary: For those who love their car as I do, I would recommend you stay away from this place. My car is less than what it used to be before its visit here, which saddens me greatly. A few months ago I got into an accident with a center divide. My car had major front end damage and I was sure there was no coming back from this accident. I was greeted by Helene who assured me my car would be in great hands. She answered every call I made extremely happy and never was annoyed by my endless questions. Having Hertz rental right there made the process that much easier and pain free. My repairs took about 2 1/2 weeks and when I came to pick up my car I couldn't tell there was any damage done. Many years I brought a truck in to be repaired after hitting a dear. They made the truck look brand-new. Really pleased except that they did not replace the window molding which has been leaking ever since. 2nd experience made me decide that I will never darken their business door step again. Brought in vehicle. Never called or sent me the estimate as they stated that they would. Stated to the insurance company that the car was not worth fixing. It was one of the worst experience in recent memory. Botched repair of front end of c7 corvette. Seams did not match on any side. Further inspection found a bent subframe. I was told it was from a previous incident so even though they noticed it, they didn't mention it to me and didn't repair it. But the previous incident was one they had repaired. I've used the Professional Touch twice now. Once in July of 2015 and then in May of 2017. My initial experience in 2015 was decent (outside of the neighboring Hertz rental car accidentally erasing my reservation, which was made 2 months in advance and having me scramble over to san jose to find a rental car that ended up costing me $200 extra). Fast forward 2 years, we took a different vehicle back after my Mother had been rear ended. The work was done decently, somewhat on time line and the people in the office were decently-friendly. However, recently I found out that we weren't notified of the severity relating to this accident. Upon trading in our vehicle, the dealership provided us a Carfax report on our trade-in (vehicle Professional Touch worked on in May 2017). In this Carfax report, it states an accident reported in May of 2017 that included damage to the vehicle's frame. This explains some of the mechanical and drivability issues we were having with the car, also explains why it was worth $2,500 LESS in trade when we went in to trade it in. This car's title was clean upon trading it in, however, had this frame damage been reported to us/our insurance provider they would have salvaged the vehicle out. After a couple experiences here, I have realized they have cost me $2500 extra versus going to a different shop ($2,500 less on trade valuation). Not reporting this issue to myself/my mother is horribly troubling and to a degree, jeopardized her safety. I hope they become more clear with the issues present on vehicles when they're inspected and repaired. They're nice people and mistakes happen,however, I wont be returning and I hope they don't have any similar issues moving forward. read more

I stopped by here a while back to get an estimate on some damage to the trunk of my car. I had read the positive reviews on yelp and expected to have a good experience. When I drove up I was really surprised by how tiny this place is. The shop is so small that I immediately had reservations about having them repair my car. I spoke with Karl and he was rude from the start. After being there for only a couple of minutes I decided to go elsewhere. Why would I pay to have some rude guy from a tiny little trailer shop give me attitude? I ended up bring my car to a shop in Santa Cruz and I couldn't be happier that I did. We selected Professional Touch because of the 5 star reviews and they were a CSAA Direct Repair Facility. They kept me informed though out the repair process and provided great customer service. I highly recommend Professional Touch for collision repairs. I had taken one of our cars in for repairs a few months ago. I was called and told the car was ready, upon arrival I noticed that the part of the damaged area was not repaired. Had to leave the car for another week. It was an inconvenience to leave the car longer than expected, but they did get it done right. Here's where they lost me. I had to take another car in for an estimate. The estimate included repainting an entire panel and I had confirmed this verbally. Scheduled the appointment and dropped the car off to be repaired. After picking up the car, I saw that they blended the front of the panel, then cleared entire panel right over a chip in the paint. read more

So I'm pretty furious and just want the community to know what happened to me so it won't happen to you. I got hit on the freeway and the other guys insurance paid for my car to be fixed. From being hit, to today, there hasn't been one step that went smoothly, but these things never go great. But when all was said and done, I got my car back, returned the rental, and was on my way. My car looked brand new when it went in, I knew that there was some repairs on the rear end before I bought it over two years ago, because I bought it with a salvaged title. It's been an awesome 2015 Toyota Corolla s/le ever since. The place I took it too gave me a quote to fix it for the future, a pretty hefty quote but a quote non the less and sent me on my way with a beautiful inspection safety warranty thingy! Yay, makes you feel all warm. Well, immediately I noticed my tale light was broken and my bumper looked like someone accidentally put their thumb through it when trying to push it back on...maybe. So I drove back and after being told by Shane that it's not their fault because I bought a shitty car! WTF? I don't give a shit if underneath is pretty bad and needs repair, my car looked great and worked great and wasn't broken before I brought it in. And who is he, what type of customer service is that to make me feel bad about what I've just discovered like I'm just a piece of shit and can be on my way with my shitty car that now looks like shit!! I'm so happy I didn't stand for that, and after a day was finally called back and was told they ordered a new light and bumper for me. Thanks for doing the right thing, right? Well, sort of...I awoke to find my car almost falling apart. My taillight was falling off and so was the bumper. So when my husband went to investigate, he was furious!! They had attached my bumper with one bolt and a screw that basically did nothing, and the light had black goop/gum, no screw no bolt, just goop. We went back with my husband this time. The guy, Shane, immediately says the goop wasn't them, it was there before. When my husband calls him on it, stating there's no way that's been exposed to the air for two years and feels that fresh, so Shane concedes and says it was them, and that's just the way it had to be. He went back and forth for days trying to skirt responsibility. I could go on for fucking ever! He cussed at my husband, he threw his arms around like a monkey, he sent me and my baby out onto the road knowing that he attached my rear end with one bolt and some gum! I want all moms to be enraged about this! It wasn't until my husband came to my defense that we finally got somewhere, barely even. And I am not a woman that backs down, but this guy was so incredulous, that I couldn't even stand up for my own family's safety! Their estimate was HALF the price of estimates i got locally (santa cruz) because they had the confidence in their expertise to smooth out the dent, rather than install a new panel. Their confidence is well placed. They allowed me to check the repair before they painted it, and the finished product is perfection. My car now looks better than it ever did (i bought it used). I took my Mercedes into the Professional Touch to get the rear quarter panel repaired. I had been sideswiped on the freeway and the old Benz had seen better days. When I arrived the staff was very helpful and friendly. Roger (manager) was thorough and professional as would be expected. He had the paperwork ready for me in no time and Karl (owner) got me set up with a rental car which was there right away. The rental was a 4-door comparable to my Mercedes which was excellent because I carpool to work so my work routine was not interrupted. Roger told me it would be about 3 days for the repair and they would keep me informed about each stage of the process. It was only two days later that the car was done and on my way home from work I stopped in to pick up my car and drop off the rental. I was very happy with the way the car turned out. They had to remove, repaired and paint all the damaged parts and they were able to match the 1993 Mercedes Gold flawlessly - you couldn't even tell the car had been hit. To top it off they detailed the car inside and out, polished the rims, cleaned the interior - it was fantastic!
