Hi, My complaint is that the lady (owner?) who spoke to me and my accompanying party to get drinks was rlly rude... We had issues with the ipad to self-order (it was glitching or something) and we let her know. And instead of her just taking our order in person at the front counter then and there, she said in an annoying tone, "WhAt dO yOu WaNt/NeEd?" And then after rudely pointing to the other ipad (near the entrance) to do our order there, she just left abruptly back into the kitchen.... probably to do nothing but sit there. Tapioca Express is located in a mall in which is also located a Von's Grocery Store, as well as the excellent Romesco Restaurant, and a 31-Flavors Ice Cream Shop. Parking is available right in front of Tapioca Express. There are several outdoor tables in front of the facility for use by the patrons. Tempura is also available for the adventureous. I only wish the welcome at Tapioca Express had been a little more gracious. read more

I go to Tapioca Express regularly. I normally order the crispy chicken snack. This time the bag was 3/4 full with chicken, and the bottom 1/4 was just full of fried batter pieces with a couple of small French fries mixed in. The top pieces were hot, but the bottom pieces were warm. I'm guessing that they scraped the bottom of the container to fill the bag. I brought it back and showed it to the girl at the counter. I couldn't fully understand what she was saying, but I got the gist of her explanation. I think what she was saying is that I got the right amount of chicken and that I should expect some batter when fried. I think that's what she was trying to get across? She wasn't apologetic at all, argumentative. She never once bothered to ask how she can make it right. I didn't want a new bag of chicken, or anything in return, I just wanted to bring it to her attention. I explained to her that I've ordered chicken snacks from other Tapioca Restaurants, but have never gotten this much pieces of fried batter in my order. But she continued to argue with me. I called this location to try and get more information about the Thai Tea Snow Bubble. When I asked the worker what type of liquid base they use the worker told me it was just Thai tea and ice blended. But upon looking at the website, it says milk and non dairy creamer. So because I felt like the worker didn't know what was in the drink that I wanted. I did not feel comfortable ordering from them. Solely because I cannot have milk and coconut. read more

My kids enjoy coming here after schoo, food and drinks are always good. We order online most of the time and its always ready when we come in. Isa is very friendly and welcoming and always has a smile on her face even when she gets busy with the flood of kids from the neighborhood. Soooo I guess if you order when they are in a rush they don't care to put and the effort in getting the order correct. When I called and asked if the recipe changed, because we only order yogurt frost at this location. I was told that if they are in a rush, they probably forgot. Major disappointed :( This Tapioca Express has switched up their rice combos... no longer has the steamed veggies/ pork rice/ egg... instead it has a salad (that had no dressing!), a little spoonful of seaweed and kimchi. I had the crispy chicken and the portions are much less. They now serve in these plastic bento style to go boxes. I can't say I am a fan of the new style of rice combos. I did not fancy this TapEx location at all. My sister was craving their crispy chicken, and on certain food-ordering apps, only the Bonita location seemed to be processing food orders. I would've ordered from the Eastlake location, but to add to what I had said, this location was only doing drink orders. We placed an order for two crispy chicken combos and one crispy chicken snack. The positive is that the black tea and taro tea with boba were good. The negative was that the food was not satisfying at all. I'm used to TapEx combos coming with a side of vegetables, a crispy/runny egg and white rice. I was surprised when I saw minced pork, a hard boiled egg (it is also not a white egg), and non-white/sticky rice that I am used to as an Asian that frequents visits are TapEx. I was so confused on what the minced pork was that I actually called the restaurant to ask. The first person to answer sounded like an older woman that didn't speak English as a first language. She sounded rude and just passed the phone to her coworker (without warning). I had to explain myself and ask questions all over again and he explained what it was. I'm not sure if this is the new norm or this particular location's take on their meals, but it was not enjoyable. The quality of the food was lackluster and the taste was questionable. My bf, my 2yr old daughter and I ordered 3 drinks and an order of crispy fried tofu here at tapioca express bonita. I'm almost done drinking my drink which is Honeydew snow bubble and found a piece of steelwool inside my mouth as I was sipping the drink and chewing the boba (tapiocaballs).. got scared and took away my daughters drink (she's drinking a M taro boba) and worried that she might also have steelwool on her drink.. this is the 2st time it happened to us, so unacceptable because what if my 2 yr old is the one who has it on her drink and swallowed it? Update: I just called tapioca Express in bonita to tell my experience and the guy I talked too said "they dont know how did the steelwool got in my drink, and that they only use steelwool to clean their pots and pans not the blenders. This is a review I'm really unhappy to write. I used to take my kids to the Tapioca Express in East Lake a couple times/week after school until it closed down. The place was great, people friendly, service excellent and the drinks and food great. good times. Today I was in Plaza Bonita with my daughter and we drove by this TE on the way home. Of course we stopped. Couldn't NOT stop. Imagine the shock when we entered to find you don't actually place an order with a human. You need to hunt and peck through a screen they have setup. I picked up a Earl Grey Milk Tea without added sugar nor boba, but simply on the rocks for around $3, which was a pretty good price. The milk tea was okay. For what I have experience at other places with this kind of milk tea, this one was a little on the sweet side for my taste and it had a thicker viscosity than I like. I literally let it sit in the ice for about 20 minutes to tone down the sweetness and thickness. Also, the flavor of the Earl Grey was to subtle and needed to be more aggressive. Just placed a Yelp order a few mins ago and when my friend came to pick it up, this girl kept insisting that they didn't have an order with my name on it. She even suggested that my friend place another order and pay for it again. I sent my friend the screenshot of my order and my bank transaction to show the girl there and when she went to the back, she found the order. When my friend asked why she didn't find it the first time, she said it was because of the way my friend said the name. The name for the order was for Abbie or Abegaile.. no way she would've messed up that name. Tapioca Express: please teach your workers to be careful and be better with their attention to detail. For this worker not to check properly and tell the customer to pay for their order again is unacceptable. Love this location! 5 stars because I value the drinks made for the taste and service received has been excellent on several occasions. I usually get the banana snow bubble with boba (the little tapioca balls) because the banana used here is fresh rather than other flavors that are artificial syrup. This location has a "spin the wheel" for students in college you can get a number of discounts which I find very thoughtful and unique. Jason has helped make my drinks on several occasions, he is the best because he always has a great attitude and is very polite...always a pleasure to see him when I go there thanks Jason! Tip 1: try the boba a couple times before deciding to not like it I didn't like it at first but the second time loved it! Last week my husband called to place an order for pick up, a rude person verified he had to pay over phone she sounded irritated and did not ask for the method of payment which is cash. This place is garbage. I've given them many, many chances after multiple mishaps and have continued to go here due to the convenience of it being close. After today, definitely not going over here anymore. What's the point of having a number display outside to let people waiting know their drinks are ready if you don't even change it? My drinks ended up melting because I didn't hear them call my number out as I was relying on the display outside as I always have.
