The spot is definitely small, and don't have many seating. The soda machine is right next to a table that a family was eating at. I Really Wanted to Love This Pizza After seeing several Facebook videos from this restaurant, my wife and I drove south after church specifically to try their Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. The videos worked--I was genuinely excited. The last Chicago-style pizza I had was at Lefty's in North Park, which was very good, so I was looking forward to trying another local option. Our first impression was excellent. The restaurant looked great, with Chicago memorabilia on one side and San Diego Padres players on the other. It was cool and comfortable inside, and the cashier was exceptionally friendly and attentive. I told her it was our first visit and that their Facebook advertising was exactly what brought us in. We ordered the popular Empire State Meat Lovers deep-dish pizza. The cashier explained that it would take about 25-30 minutes, which was no problem--we expected a proper deep-dish pizza to take some time. With one Coke, the total was $41.30. That seemed a little expensive, but I would have been perfectly happy with the price if the pizza delivered what the videos promised. We requested it in a box because we expected to eat only a slice or two and take the rest home. After about 30 minutes, the cashier brought it to our table with plenty of chili packets and a deep-dish serving utensil. The pizza looked amazing when we opened the box, and it had the size, weight, cheese, and crunch you would expect from a substantial deep-dish pizza. Unfortunately, the flavor did not match its appearance. I first pulled off a piece of crust, but it had very little flavor. The sauce was overwhelmingly salty--so salty that my wife joked that we would have no trouble getting our sodium for the day. I laughed and hoped the rest of the slice would be better. The pizza was served piping hot, the cheese was plentiful, and the crust had a satisfying crunch. However, after several bites, I could not get past the saltiness. Beneath all that salt, the sauce tasted bland, and the dough lacked the rich flavor I expect from a good deep-dish crust. If I am being completely honest, the overall flavor reminded me more of a basic frozen supermarket pizza than a freshly made specialty pizza. I really tried to like it, especially because I had been so excited to come. But I could barely finish one slice. We walked out carrying a very heavy box with only two slices missing, and unless one of our kids eats the leftovers, I honestly have little desire to reheat them. What disappointed me most was not spending $41.30 on a pizza we did not enjoy. It was that I truly wanted to love this place. The Facebook videos showed someone taking tremendous pride in his pizza craft, and I was hoping to find a great Chicago-style restaurant we could return to. I hope this was simply an off day, because the restaurant itself was inviting and the service was excellent. The staff treated us very well, and the pizza had the right appearance and structure--it just fell far short on flavor. We visited Victorino's because it was the closest pizza place to us. I ordered the chicken bake since it was the Friday daily special, and my husband ordered the Sopranos Supreme pizza. I expected the chicken bake to be similar in shape to Costco's, so I was surprised when it came out looking more like a calzone. We asked about it, and the employee said, "That's how we're making them right now." I am not sure whether they only make them this way for the daily special, but the shape made it much harder to eat. There was a slit cut into the dough before baking, which created a hole for the filling to ooze out whenever I tried to pick it up to eat. I eventually to cut it into pieces, and it became a mess. The bacon was also disappointing because it did not have the texture of fully cooked, crispy bacon, it was more like raw uncooked bacon. The only thing the chicken bake really had going for it was the generous size. Since I ordered it as the Friday special, the price was more reasonable, but I would have been very disappointed paying the regular price of around $15 for it. Other than the size, I would rather go to Costco for a chicken bake. The Sopranos Supreme pizza was okay, but it was a little too saucy for our preference. Nothing about it really stood out to us. I placed an ASAP order through ChowNow, which was very easy to use. I ordered the Seau Family Meal ($55) with the Godfather pizza, Parmesan wings, Caesar salad, and Alfredo pasta. We also added a meatball sub. The order was placed at 11:42 a.m., and I received a notification that it would be ready at 12:29 p.m. My only suggestion is that the app clarify that family meals require additional preparation time. When I see "ASAP," I typically expect something closer to 20 minutes, especially since I was only a few minutes from the restaurant. Setting that expectation up front would be helpful. We arrived around noon, and while waiting, I ordered two pizza slices to go so we could try other flavors--a Bonita White and a Meat Lovers slice. The staff let me know my online order would be ready closer to the 12:29 time shown in the app, which was completely fine. I waited in my car and returned at 12:29. At that point, they said they were just waiting on the meatball sub, so I took the pizza slices to the car and came back. The sub was ready about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, I didn't check the bags until I got home. That's when I realized the Alfredo pasta had been replaced with marinara pasta, and I received a Margherita slice instead of the Bonita White I ordered. I was disappointed by the quality control. While I could have checked everything before leaving, if this had been a delivery order through Uber Eats or another service, the mistakes still would have made it to the customer. I didn't want to drive back since it wasn't convenient, and the restaurant was busy. I mainly wanted to share this feedback because I think paying a little more attention to order accuracy would make a big difference. The food itself tasted great. I really liked the flavor of the red sauce. The garlic knots were a little overdone, but I was able to trim off the darker parts. The Parmesan wings had good flavor, though I personally would have preferred them a bit crispier. A few minutes in the air fryer fixed that easily. Finally tried this place, i was craving pizza and it hit the spot. They sell by the slice as well and that's what i was looking for. I got the meal deal which is 2 slices and a fountain drink, 10$. If you're going to advertise that you make Detroit Style pizza at least do the bare minimum of looking up on Wikipedia what it is. Went here on a Tuesday bc of their $20 special on D-town pizza. The only thing they got right was the shape & pepperoni cups, nothing else. To be Detroit pizza you need the industrial WW2 pans made of Blue Steel, you need the sauce on top in 2 long stripes that don't touch the crust, you have to use Wisconsin block cheese & the cheese needs to go all the way to the edge and caramelize into a dark brown cheese crust. This was a decent pizza, just don't call it "Detroit Style". Overall I'm giving them 2 stars (vs. 1 star) bc service was decent. Pizza came out in 20 min even though they only had 1 poor guy working everything. The only place in town that gets it right is "Angry Pete's Pizza" in Kearny Mesa. WOW! I have been meaning to try this pizzeria out for a few months. I did a promotion and picked up some pizza here...IT IS DELICIOUS! I got: 2 slices Ciao Bella Margarita, 1 Bonita White, and 1 Cheese for a total of 4 slices. ALL of them are Delicious!! It is the traditional and authentic NY Style pizza. I can taste the garlic oil and all of the fresh toppings in every bite. The man who helped me at the counter was super customer service oriented and he was packing up an order of 5 XL 18" NY pizzas but took the time to acknowledge me and help me. This was impressive as he was handling all of the business well. I should have taken a picture of the pizzas on display but they all look good. I am definitely coming back to try more...maybe tomorrow on lunch! They have a lunch special: 2 NY Slices (very big slices) and soda for $10. It is worth it! The flavor is AWESOME! This was't our first time ordering from Victorinos, but it was our first time ordering a deep dish pizza (to go). We ordered their 12" Harry Carey's Deep Dish, Empire State Meat Lovers Pie. It consisted of red sauce, sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, ricotta, parsley, Parmesan, and oregano. We also added mushrooms to our pizza. Upon arrival, it was ready to pay for and boy was it heavy for a 12" pie! The box really got soaked by the time we finished serving the slices at home. It was delicious and everyone that had a slice had positive comments about the pizza. It was fresh, tasty, filling, but pricey! Note: Thursday's is Deep Dish Pizza Special at Victorino's, ALL Deep Dish Pizzas are $27! So if you can wait 'till Thursday's, it's a great deal... Oh man, we really wanted to love this place because the employees are so nice, but sadly, the food was a fail for us. We ordered a regular mushroom pizza, a deep dish meat lovers pizza, and a Machado sub. They told us 45 minutes over the phone, it took an hour. The mushroom pizza should have been easy but t they got it wrong. They put pepperoni on it and BARELY any mushrooms and the cheese didn't go all the way up to the crust. I didn't have the heart to have them make a new one because they were so busy plus I didn't want to wait longer than I already had. The deep dish pizza basically tasted like lasagna on pizza crust--not a meat lovers pizza, and the sub sandwich barely had any meat. I'm talking one very thin layer of meat and the rest was bread and condiments. It was laughable. We were really bummed, especially after paying $75+ for everything. All I can say is wow. Hadn't been by this place since they went through a change and regretting we decided to give them a chance due to their ads. We came in on a busy day, but placed in an order for a pizza with an extra topping. We wait patiently for an hour. It's only once we started noticing people who were waiting (one had been waiting for almost 2 hours) before we came in still weren't getting theirs and folks who came after us were getting. A lot of folks noticed as well and start asking what was going on. When my husband goes to ask, he hears the cook say in Spanish that they had finished it and the woman up front probably gave it away by mistake. She clearly assumed by my husband's looks that he was neither Hispanic, nor understood Spanish, because she proceeded to tell him that it was in the oven and they just had to sprinkle the topping. But surprise! He is and understood what the cook said! So pretty sure we got someone else's pizza because we didn't get theirs pizza as ordered when we checked. These guys clearly did not have their act together. What makes me mad is rather than own it, the woman up front decided to lie. Your staff should not assume folks can't speak other languages just because they don't "look" the part. Act better and take responsibility when you goof up. read more

I wasn't the biggest fan of Victorinos pizza when it first opened, something about the cheese I didn't like, too salty or something. I decided to give it another chance and I'm happy to report that it was improved since last time I came, my six year also confirmed. The pizza had very little flop, the sauce was mild, and the toppings are top notch. I really enjoy interacting with the workers there, they are nicest people in the food industry. As I was chopping it up with the cook he mentioned the special they have on Fridays, which is all subs are only $10 (normally $15). I'm a huge Italian sub fan, I drive all over SD to try em, so I told the guy I would be back the next day to try it out, and I did. Although the pizza is good, their Italian sub, called the Dave Winfield, stole the show! It is now my second favorite Italian sub in SD (first is Gus' Subs in La Mesa still). Salami, capicola, pepperoni, and provolone, with the traditional veggies all on a in house, made from scratch daily, 10" roll. The bread for me is what makes the sandwich stand out over the rest. It's lightly toasted on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. I can't express how good the bread is. Meat and veggies are for the most part all the same, but a great piece of bread is what will set a sandwich apart from the others. If you're in the area, stop and get a slice for the kids, and get yourself the Italian sub, trust me. read more

I stopped in Victorinos for the "Dave Winfield Italiano Sandwich. The sandwich was good, especially the ciabatta type loaf. It had good texture and flavor. The sandwich came with "salami, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, provolone, tomato, lettuce, onion, pepperoncini, oregano, Italian dressing" (Victorino's Pizzeria, 2024). Unfortunately, they only put one later of each of the deli meats, including the provolone cheese. As a result, their flavor was minimal, especially with the thick bread they used. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I liked the bread, but doubling the meat would really make this sandwich just grand. The service was very good. The ladies at the counter were very nice and friendly. We had a good chat. The place offers inside and outside seating. Also, you can buy pizza via the slice here, too. read more
