I order from here very often. And it annoyed me that out of my 5-6 online orders 3 have been wrong. One was a huge order where many of us requested no boba in the drink. They all came with boba. Many of us were not happy (I like boba, but many of my other co-workers were not happy). This place has come to shit. Never coming here again. Ordered two orders of the popcorn chicken and was given potstickers. When we came back to tell the cashier. She said "No, you didn't. You wanted potstickers" my boyfriend asked the cashier to confirm the order before they made it and on the screen, it did say pop corn chicken. We also ordered the crispy tempura. Yaaay! Didn't expect to find TapEx in Bonita but I think this is my favorite vs UCSD, UTC or Convoy. They hand delivered my drink, it was clean and the service was fast. My Almond Milk Tea with lychee jelly hit the spot. Crispy chicken and calamari was cooked fresh and nice and tender. This Tap Ex is OK. Tucked away in the same plaza as VONS (to the right) off Bonita Road, parking is great and the location is easy to spot. I was surprised they didn't offer soy or almond milk like some of their other locations (surprised since they are a chain you'd expect the same ingredients across the board). Got a litchi icee with boba and this time around the boba was decent. read more

I've been to the other locations before, so I thought it'd be great to finally check this one out. It's a pretty cool one, a bit smaller than the others, but it still has an extensive menu and even better they've got a lot of board games you can play. The staff was friendly and my orders (peppermint chocolate snow bubble, fried tofu) came out fast. Both were done well, and they tasted good. Overall, it was great to try this place out, and with it being less busy than the others, I'll be sure to consider this location when I'm craving some boba drinks. read more

I stopped by here to grab some boba since it's closer than the one that I used to go to in Convoy, but you can definitely see the difference from the two stores. I usually order an almond milk tea large with boba and sometimes get the crispy chicken snack. It's kinda of hit or miss when it comes to who's making the almond milk tea. Some days it's good and others it's ehh. The crispy chicken here tastes a little different than the one I'm used to. The place is pretty small so there are only a few tables and chairs to eat inside. The food and drinks are ok. If I'm too lazy to drive to the other locations, this place is ok to stop by and grab a snack and drink. read more

Love to support the local business in the area. I be been goin to this location since they opened up. The past few times I have seen the service decline quite noticeably. Customer service is always awesome. Just the minor items like on a slow day with one person waiting. It took about :15-20 mins for an order. I have asked several times for a stamp card and was told they ran out. But that was said last month. No big deal, but still can be improved. read more

Never again! There is a Tapioca Express a couple miles up Otay Lakes Road that gets the orders right. We have been getting drinks and snacks here every week for a while. On two different occasions we ordered fries and tofu with NO spice, but somehow they came with an incredible amount of spice. We're talking about Thai food hot curry, burn your mouth, start sweating, get a stomach ache spicy. The first time we just rolled with it and suffered. Literally. The second time this happened we called to let them know, and they said they would re-make them. After driving back, I stood there as the only customer for a long time before anyone attention to my presence. I was very patient because I didn't want anything else extra in there, if you know what I mean. I even brought back the messed up order to show what we were dealing with. The girl took a glance and admitted they were loaded with the hot stuff, then gave us tiny replacements. No apologies, no offer to refund, and now...no more weekly customer. I just wish we could take back the tip. read more

Best Tapioca Express ever!! This location is located in a very nice shopping plaza across the street from Rohr Park. It is a little out of the way for me but always worth the drive. Just note that the store itself is very small and seating is limited. There's something about the milk tea made here that tastes so much better than everywhere else. The boba balls have a perfect chewy texture. And the spices on the crispy chicken is crack. I live closer to both Convoy and SDSU but this will always be my TapEx of choice! read more

This is probably my least favorite tapioca express. I always ask for less sugar in my drinks, but my drinks always tastes so disgustingly sweet that I cannot even drink it. They also have their hours posted on the door, but they don't always abide by them. Last time I went, It said they close at 9pm on a Saturday night but they were closing up shop at 6pm. read more

This place has very nice and friendly service. I took my two year old kid here, and she enjoyed it very much. This is a friendly place for kids. I have been here a few times already since the new management came in and I usually order the mango yogurt frost. I love the taste of the fresh mango and yogurt. It has great fruit aroma and the calamari is also very crunch and delicious. The calamari tasted tender, not like the frozen calamari like at other places. When I used to come here, the Service and taste of the Thai tea was so good. When I arrived last night, and it wasn't busy, there was one person ahead of me and the door to the kitchen was ajar. The counter person saw us, but it still took him 3 minutes to come out, let alone GREET us. There goes a star. The person ahead of me and I both got our bubble teas at the same time. Immediately something tasted "off" about my tea. The look was far too burnt-orange than I remember for this cafe brand, but I wasn't going to let that bother me. I shook it some more; I stirred it some more. Nothing helped. It was barely sweetened and almost tasted like they used coconut water instead of milk, condensed milk, or evap-milk. I have Never not finished a bubble tea...the boba even tasted "off" enough that I couldn't even finish those off before tossing it. The only reason I can't bring myself to down this to a one-star review is because I remember their chichi fries were super yummy - I hope that's still the case. SLOWEST. SERVICE. EVER. I understand they are new, but it's been about a month since opening and service has not improved. My fiancé and I enjoy boba and were pleased to find out it was at such a convenient location. The place is small with limited seating and we usually order our boba to go. We went inside, the cashier and the owner (a middle-aged Filipino man) was "cashing out" the ONE register they have. The other employee took our orders for us (one large honeydew milk tea and one large coconut milk tea) and we seriously waited for 20 minutes. The drinks were ready and we couldn't tell which one was the honeydew because they were both the light tan color. Puzzled, the boy that made our drinks pointed it out to us. I didn't know honeydew drinks don't always come out their beautiful pastel green color, but at least I know now. :s There was another time when the employee labor laws poster was being delivered and the lady owner seemed very confused as to what to do with it. (Hang it in the break room or kitchen, obviously...). And lastly, there was another time where the man owner took out orders and he was confused with the names. How do you not know your own menu? Sheesh. During slow days, the workers should practice making their drinks faster. I also hope to see their sense of urgency improve in the months to come.
