I stopped by this Harbor Freight to get bolt cutters that the Northridge location didn't have when I went during the weekend. I found parking easily here and checked on the website if they had it in stock. This store is a bit smaller than the Northridge one but the Northridge one just open like at the beginning of the year. I walked around the store until I found where the bolt cutters were and then I looked at other stuff too. The aisle are more compact which I think is because this store has been here for a while so it's old. read more

When you go online and confirm they have an item in stock then drive 45 minutes only to figure out they "keep that item off site" and can only deliver on special days when unicorns fart. No thank you, I'll shop at the Camarillo store for now on. Today, I came in to return a torque wrench I bought recently, but I had lost the receipt. I was really lucky that Kayla and Tony were working today, because despite the circumstances, they were super helpful and understanding of my situation and took care of the return for me. Harbor Freight Tools would not honor their coupon! I went to the Simi Valley store on January 1st with my "New Year, New Deals" 25% off coupon to purchase a US General Series 3 tool box. #58723 I read the small print very carefully and the tool box which they call a "Roll Cabinet" was not excluded from the sale. When I tried to pay for the $599 tool box with my 25% off coupon, manager Brodee denied the coupon because he said the tool box is refered to by Harbor Freight as a storage cabinet. I told him that nobody in the tool world calls a tool box a storage cabinet. I have heard the name tool box, rollaway, tool chest a roller box, but never a storage cabinet. I pointed out to manager Brodee that my item was displayed in the Tool Box section of the store and that their add refers to item #58723 as a "Roll Cab". I was told roll cab is short for rolling cabinet. The only item that was listed as a storage cabinet that I noticed was the Yukon Tool box item #56613. I told Brodee since the "Roll Cab" was not listed as an exclusion in the small print on the coupon that he needs to honor the coupon. Brodee refused to honor the coupon and gave me a signed note that my item was not valid on the coupon. I then asked two employees at the store, where is the storage cabinet section. They replied we don't sell storage cabinets here. You should try Home Depot or Lowes. I told Brodee that I was going to call the corporate office to complaint, but he didn't care. I called Harbor Freight corporate office and spoke with Palima who was working from home due to the crying kid in the back round. Palima told me that Harbor Freight refers to all tool boxes as storage cabinets and she could not help me. Palima also said that it is now January 2nd and the sale ended yesterday. I explained to her that I was at their store on January 1st so the coupon should have been honored. I also explained that the item I wanted is listed as a roller cabinet which is not one of the excluded items on coupon. Palima then said even if that is true, the Harbor Freight coupon says that "other restrictions may apply" which is at the discretion of store manager Brodee . I said that ANY item in the store could be excluded from the coupon and she said that's right. I asked her if she was a lawyer and she said no. I told her that she should contact their legal department because what Harbor Freight was doing was an unfair business practice and might be considered the old "Bait and Switch" if this goes to court. Palima said have a nice day and that we are done here. I told Palima to take down my number and have someone call me because we are not done here. I expect Harbor Freight to honor their 25% of coupon on the US General roller cabinet #58723 and issue me a $50 Harbor Freight gift card for my trouble. read more

Came in to purchase a few very large and quite expensive tools. I was not able to make it back to my current area in time so I stopped by the local Harbor freight store. I have never known a hardware store that doesn't like to make sales, but this one did not want to take the $600 that I wanted to spend because apparently all the big items that I needed are kept in a building separately in the back and even though this harbor freight was still Open They lock that back location and then won't let anybody go in there at all until the next day. So I was unable to spend the 600+ dollars that I was trying to spend today in this moment. So they lost a $600 sale at that location by being complete idiots and not knowing how to open a door to get tools that a customer was requesting... At a tool store... Utterly amazing how bad this is set up. I've never been so annoyed by a hardware store, but you guys did it. Good job read more

A men's store for all our Tool needs. New location and so much bigger, most of all very clean and very well maintained. I was greeted right away as I entered and directed were I needed to go to, however I wanted to look around. The layout of the store is also presentable along with stocked shelves. I've got to avoid the larger power tools that this place sells.... most are absolutely worthless. Picked up the KRAUSE & BECKER Airless Paint Sprayer Kit as a Xmas gift for myself just before everything shut down for the pandemic. Now that things are returning to normal and I have some cash to work on intended home improvements I spend a butt-load on paint and primer to repaint several interior rooms of my home. Guess what didn't work as advertised...... After finally figuring out that this piece of trash won't self-prime, I manually filled the priming tube and it began sucking up product..... only to spray it from EVERY ORIFICE EXCEPT THE SPRAY NOZZLE! I disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled this machine several times. All of the seals were in place. All of the connectors were tightly coupled. And paint STILL sprayed everywhere ~ except ~ out the nozzle. So the fact that the nozzle itself wouldn't stay in place and just fell out every time you didn't hold the nozzle handle perfectly vertical was a moot point. The true insult to injury was that, even thought I had the receipt, I was well past the store's 90 day return window and the 1 year manufacturers warranty and no amount of explanation, logical or pleading, was enough to earn a refund. Poorly designed tool. Poorly built tool. Poorly supported tool. Poor customer service. And on my part, poor timing. $200 down the drain. This was the LAST power tool I EVER buy from Harbor Freight. read more

Harbor Freight has been known for its Parking Lot Sales in which it hauled out into the parking lot all sorts of items that were on sale, closeouts, or clearance items. The sale items were concentrated in one place, mostly under a large canvas tarp. A salesperson was present Today, such a sale was advertised online, and with large banners inside the Simi Valley store's windows. The first thing I noticed when I entered the parking lot was that there was no merchandise in the parking lot. I asked the first employee when I walked in whether the sale was in the parking lot behind the store. He said no, the sales items were througout the store, I simply had to look for them. Of course, this meant walking down each aisle, with HF's hope no doubt being that I would find other items that I would buy. Much like advertising a "going out of business sale" when the business never closes in order to make people think that they are getting special deals, this is false advertising. All HF did was to change some sales tags on shelves and to continue business as usual. read more

Came to this store on a July 4 weekend sale and found great deals. Their products are good for the most part along with great return and exchange policies. The staff is great and helpful. I happened to be a little more of a needy customer that day with questions but ANTHONY(or TONY, nickname) helped me out and was so kind of so patient and he helped wheel out the heavy equipment I purchased. These people are nice! They go out of their way to help you. I was asked three times if I needed help and the gentleman, when I did ask for help, was busy but he quickly stopped what he was doing and went out of his way to help me. The store is well organized, clean and everything is easy to find. This is not the biggest harbor freight but it certainly is convenient for me, a pleasure to visit and with completely helpful staff. They also will look up coupons for you and will find a coupon if you don't have one. I like that they go that extra mile. read more

My husband bought 2 generators at $399.00 each. One of them when we opened it was damaged and bent frame rocked when it was on the ground. The entire thing was squashed on the right side the panel was even pushed up. Here's where it gets bad. When he got it to Simi location he talked to the manager about an exchange the manager said he couldn't do that. Then my husband asked for a refund which he was then told there would be a $150.00 Restocking fee. Which the manager was about to wave. However my husband then said look I'm sorry I don't mean to be busting your chops but this came damaged. The manager then replied well you are! What kind of an establishment talks back to its customers and does not offer some sort of Customer service satisfaction? This store needs a major upgrade in management skills, people skills and employees skills all around! There was somebody there that was another customer wanting to buy what my husband wanted to return so two people in this transaction got pardon my French, screwed!! companies should know better on how to treat others especially a manager! Selling damaged goods is one thing but not backing up the warranty or the return of product or exchange absolutely unacceptable. Needless to say we will not be going to Simi Valley Harbor freight anymore. Even though we live in Simi we will continue to do business with Camarillo since their staff there knows how to conduct business properly. If anyone does respond to this that has to do with Harbor freight making it right would be a straight up exchange for the item in question and maybe schooling their Simi Valley location. Harbor Freight is the Walmart of tool & hardware stores. This place has practically everything, from AC voltage inverters, generators, tire changing machines and trailers to wood splitters - and each one is available at a significant discount and with a free LED flashlight thrown in to boot. Having worked professionally as a mechanic before, I wouldn't dream of using anything in this store on a daily basis. You also may want to consider wearing a disguise so your friends don't actually see you entering the store. Dark glasses, a rasta wig and fake mustache usually work OK for me. For tools such as socket sets, open end wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc... you need to buckle down and spring for the good stuff OR risk hurting yourself and damaging whatever it is you're working on. HOWEVER - If you need an unusual tool that you only plan on using once or twice, or a large piece of equipment like a generator for occasional camping or emergency use, Harbor Freight is your place. Not only will they have it - it will be dirt cheap. Some of my purchases here have included a double bench grinder, bench vise, tire changing machine, portable 12V air compressor, hammer drill, motorcycle chain breaking tool and each of these have worked great. I did buy a voltage inverter here once that didn't work well and I simply brought it back for a full refund - no questions asked. The Simi store is organized pretty well, but is a little on the cramped side. Access to the store on LA Ave. is poor and you can only get to it while traveling West. There are no alternate outlets either, so unless you're coming from East Simi, a U-turn is guaranteed. The staff at the Simi store have always been friendly and helpful. Even when I've forgotten my online coupon, they will usually give me the latest discount anyway, which is really cool. If you're looking for top quality tools, pay a lot more and go to Sears, or call your local Snap-On or Mac distributor. However if you need something cheap & fast for very limited use, Harbor Freight is a great alternative. And BTW - Those little $1.49 LED flashlights really do work pretty good! read more

I have been a long time customer with this store. Getting the basic help I needed, what I came in for was not available. I picked up a coupon book and to browse more. I was treated rudely by the young cashier, who approached me abruptly about looking at the coupon book saying "that is our property!" Unfortunately, for myself, customer service comes first and it is us that keeps businesses alive. Branded as "Pittsburgh", "Chicago", etc. I took the time to walk every aisle and randomly check a sampling of hand tools, power tools and miscellaneous accessories and found all to be made in China. Not some but ALL. Don't waste your time. Tools can and should last a lifetime. Spend a few extra dollars and buy American, support domestic manufacturing/jobs and get a better product that will last. I buy lots of tools, snap on, matco, Ingersoll rand...Big names. But I also have a large stockpile of harbor freight tools. I usually visit the location in woodland hills, but today I figured I'd drop by this harbor freight to pick up some impact sockets I needed, since it was on the way. I entered the store and was not greeted. I found what I needed and went to the cashier, there was only one. She was an older, asian(chinese maybe?) lady with a thick accent. I am asian myself and could not figure out where she was from. She was "helping" a gentleman at the counter with a whole shopping cart full of items, he was obviously attempting to give HF a lot of business. The customer claimed to give the cashier a coupon and she absolutely denied that he did, and made it such a big deal that she dumped her trashcan out on the counter to show the customer that she did not take it and throw it away. When the customer asked for a manager, she said "no manager here! only me!" This cashier was absolutely disrespectful to this customer, scoffing at his statements even, as if she was so superior to him. This lady should not be in customer service, and I'm absolutely appalled that someone in retail can even treat a customer like that. Harbor Freight doesnt have much going for them, most of the tools are of dodgy quality, without good customer service and warranty program, theyve got nothing left. read more

Most of the knock-off reviews fail to understand the purpose of this store. They gave low ratings because the tools are of lower quality than expected. Of course, these are lower quality tools. Do you expect them to sell Dewalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, or Porter Cable tools at the same prices they are selling their Pittsburg line of tools? lol. I come here to buy tools or items that I expect to be use one time or maybe occasional use. Know your expectations and you won't be disappointed.
