Sherry in customer service is rude, judgmental, and probably homophobic. I came to do a return, but did not have my receipt and was looking for help trying to find it on the card. From the second she started talking to me she was unkind and dismissive. I made it a point to say, calm and respectful, even my young daughter asked me why she was being so mean. She then proceeded to help other customers who she was very kind to and even seem to go above and beyond for them. I am the proud owner of a Home Depot consumer credit card. I always go to HD when I am looking for expert advice on a DIY project. They have a great selection of "professional" items and at a great value. I love their decorators collection. I buy their household items like towels -- so fluffy soft and in great colors too. It's very easy to do business with HD. You can order on line and have it shipped to you or their store. Order online and pick it up an hour later. Same great value! Returns are easy too. Confession - like some people prefer Fords and some are diehard Chevy fans, there's a Lowe's Fandom and one for Home Depot. We fall into the Lowe's camp. I might cop to being a creature of my gender and preferring a more lifestyle/decor approach to home improvement over the literal nuts and bolts. The other day Dear Hubby and I were on the hunt for small succulent plants for a garden project. After visiting several local independent nurseries with only moderate success at finding what we were seeking, we decided to try Home Depot's garden department. We were on our own for finding what plants they had. The garden area seemed to be "minimally" staffed, to put it kindly. We figured out what we could, although more signage would have been helpful, along with a real person to talk with. Their pricing seemed fair, and we did have a wholesale nursery to compare with. Selection was decent, if not thrilling with lots of unique options. At checkout time there was one lone employee, plus a self-checkout machine as another option. I prefer to interact with humans when I'm paying for goods and services. From this limited interaction, it seems like Home Depot could use more staff members available for their customers. read more

The phone app is cool but for additional discounts i would recommend to go inside the store as in the app it seems that some items might be overpriced! I am a PRO ELITE. Which basically means I spent thousands and thousands of dollars here. Well today there was an Asian man in electric. I am Asian myself so not being racist. But he blatantly ignored me and kept helping every male that walked through the door while I stood there the light socket in my hand trying to patiently wait for help. I finally said something like dude you keep helping everyone else do you know about electrical because I need to see if you have the socket here I have to replace. What the heck happened to Home Depot? This place used to be decent, but has progressively gotten worse. Yesterday I stopped by with my father and had I not been there I wouldn't have believed it myself. In the span of 20 minutes, we had to prompt 3 different employees 3 different times for assistance, all because "they didn't work that aisle." During that time 10 employees walked by us and not a single one even acknowledged us despite obviously needing and wanting assistance. We noticed several employees were taking off their aprons so it might have been a shift change, but how in the world do you have/see 13 different employees in a 20 minute stretch and STILL Cannot get help? Mind you this is after already being in the store for 10-15 mins. We walked away after the lack of customer service. The funny thing is we have several big upcoming projects that we will not be using Home Depot for as a result. After reading all the other reviews on Yelp I urge others to do the same and avoid unless it's your last resort. No one is helpful at all and if you do find someone, they give excuses why they can't help you. Home Depot and Home Depot Simi Valley should be embarrassed with their poor customer service! It's literally nonexistent and you might as well have everything automated. What's the point of having employees if they can't help customers? After reading all the recent reviews and their "consistency" with poor customer service I would strongly avoid at all costs. I usually take Yelp reviews with a grain of salt, but seriously it's a madhouse and completely chaos in disarray if you go in. Since we still needed stuff due an emergency, we went to Lowe's and not only did every single employee greet us, but we had an expert assist us right away. It was a complete 180. This location is clearly skating on the name Home Depot and doesn't care about its customers. Way better places to spend your money at. The sad thing is several similar customers experienced the same situation while leaving Home Depot and we even "bumped" into someone we saw at Lowe's complain about the "same customer service" as we were leaving. I purchased a mini fridge online and picked it up yesterday, curbside. Michael and Ben assisted me with getting it in the backseat of my car. They were both very nice. The reason I am not giving 5 starts is, I believe I got the floor model, the box was completely trashed, and there was a sticker with the price and energy savings on the front of the fridge. I asked if it was the floor model, he said he didn't know. I looked it over and everything seemed to be in good shape, so I took it. Just plugged it in today, so I will see how it does. For the price, it has a decent amount of space. I am glad they offer curbside, as I hate going into the store. read more

Beware of contracting with Home Depot for kitchen remodels! Home Depot never informed us they were contracting with another company for the install. We hired home depot YET had to work with another company, Giallostone. Home depot says they were unaware of the install company owner's repeated horrible reviews. Neither home depot nor the install company ever mentioned having to cut a seam in our quartz slab until after the stone was incorrectly cut 1/2 inch short. We had 3 measurement meetings with home depot and Giallostone and the quartz was still cut incorrectly! My wife and install owner had a horrible argument regarding fixing the incorrectly cut stone. We were later told a manager from home depot would call to discuss and haven't heard from ANYONE! Left a msg for home depot manager 5 days ago with no response. We chose home depot despite it being far more costly than private companies because of their name but this was a mistake! read more

This is by far the best and more organized Home Depot I been to so far. Since this Home Depot location is literally across the street from my work office, I put in my order for in-store pickup here. I also had to get a bag for my Rigid vacuum so I went inside the store to get my vacuum bag first. There was no one at the self checkout line so I was able to go straight to the register. After I paid for my vacuum bag, I went to the Customer Service area to pick up my order. At first I was confused because they really didn't tape out where you line up. But since they weren't busy, someone saw me and help me. There many parking here because it's in a plaza so you won't have any issues here. I saw only 3 curbside pickup spots next to the store so I don't know if there more spots. read more

Manager needs to work on their attitude. We were at the check out and everyone was being helpful especially the young lady with beautiful lashes. From out of no where the manager comes barreling through and raises her voice at the employees about "being away from the wall and helping customers". But the employees were doing just that. I think it's worse for a manager to make a scene in front of customers and yelling about customer etiquete. Not only that! The manager singled out the young lady that was assisting us at check out. We went in and selected a door that needed to be ordered as they did not have the color we needed in stock. We paid over $1,000 upfront. We were quoted approximately 4 weeks for the door to arrive. 3 business days before the 4 weeks, I receive an email that our order had been canceled with no reason given and to call the store if I had questions. I was transferred 5 times and finally left a message. Ridiculous lack of customer service. Will never do business with them again. After she finished with him and my husband went to the register she closed it and started counting her drawer. She pointed to the next line which had over a dozen people. I forget how many great things Home Depot carries! Christmas lights, snacks, cleaning supplies, and other things that I forget I even need until I find them here. They have a diverse selection of great items for every need. I always buy my ceramic plant pots here because they have a gorgeous selection in truly magical colors. We also get our Christmas tree here every year. Not only do they have the best prices - they get a fresh delivery of trees every week. Last year we did get our Christmas tree somewhere else and it was not only more expensive, but it also dried out a lot quicker than the ones we have got from Home Depot. So, we went back to Home Depot for our Christmas tree this year. I couldn't be more pleased with the value we received and the wonderful assistance. We chose our tree and they had it all ready for us when we pulled up with our car. It was so easy and convenient! Every Home Depot employee I've encountered has been lovely. They're always helpful and polite. And, I'm pretty sure this is my hubby's favorite store. I know he has a Home Depot charge card. I know he disappears there once a week. And I know that he's spent quite a bit of time there learning how to complete new projects from their helpful staff. So I think he'll agree that this Home Depot deserves a 5-star rating! read more

I'm not usually the biggest fan of this store, but I have to give a GREAT review for an amazing employee that went above and beyond to help me with my Kitchen Design. This wonderful employee's name is JP. He is extremely knowledge, caring, trustworthy and hard working. I randomly came across JP when I realized I needed help designing a Kitchen Island. He helped me design a beautiful Island! See Pics below for what we installed, but please note we did not use Home Depots Counter top people (they charge $200 extra to measure your counter top space which is ridiculous and hard to get a hold of). JP not only spent hours/ different days designing this island, but he was extremely detailed and jovial while doing it which was extremely appreciated. Something I also really appreciated about JP was that he made sure to stay within my budget while designing my kitchen which is not the case with other Designers I have worked with in the past. JP made some great suggestions on certain design elements of my Kitchen Island I never thought of. Certain suggestions I decided I didn't move forward with I never felt pressured to buy anything that I didn't want to buy even if that meant less money sold on his behalf. So I have been using the curbside pickup at Home Depot and love it! It is efficient. Have my products the same day, sometimes within hours of placing an order online when the ready text appears on my phone. I can be out running errands, pull into the parking lot in the designated area, pull up the website, let them know that I have arrived, wait for 10 minutes or less, it is loaded into my trunk and then I'm on my way. The employees are always courteous and helpful when delivering my purchase. I have been to the Thousand Oaks Home Depot and used the same service and find the wait time much longer. I have been spoiled by this wonderful service at the Simi Valley location!! So much so, that I have used curbside at least 5 times within the last few months. read more
