They have no clue how to install HVAC systems. They tried to install the air handling system in my home and when I had my local inspector inspect the work Tapper and Sons did, he asked me if this was their first install because they did it totally wrong. They used toxic cancer causing glue inside the air supply side that specifically states "NOT FOR INDOOR USE" because I found the tubes in my garbage. When I walked in on them when they installed it, they were all high from the fumes and the owner had actually fell on the floor he told me. When I called to tell them they needed to rip it all out because the township inspector failed the install, Rob told me he has been doing it that way for 25 years. (I said, doing it WRONG for 25 years and making people sick). I am sure his employees will lose as many brain cells as Rob has and in my opinion, they should go to OSHA. I paid them 75 percent up front to install, but once I told him he failed inspection, he would not return my calls, not from any of his phone lines or his own cell, office phone, emails, texts. Total FRAUD . So I am out $15,000 and had to hire a real HVAC company. I actually did the air handling system and vents myself because I got screwed out of all that money and did not have enough. The work I did passed inspection and was told by the township inspector and the new reputable HVAC company that installed the heater unit that my work was 100 times better than what Crapper and Sons did. Stay away from this company, they are clueless, unreliable and criminals in my opinion. Got a lawyer friend of mine to look into it and he said I have a solid case against them, but would cost about the same in lawyer fees and would take a year or more. So Rob know how to play the system and that is about it. He got his money and his new motorcycle as I saw in his social media from what I paid him and that is all he cares about. These people are HORRIBLE to deal with. I had to leave 4 messages till they called me back and then the woman owner was completely rude and unprofessional. They breached the contractural agreement I paid for. I was with another HVAC company for 30 years and never ever had a problem with them. Then I went with Tapper in April 2023. I had a Gold Service Contract cleaning and inspection of my oil furnace done. Brandon arrived on time and performed the service in a timely manner. He is very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. I've been with Tapper and Sons since September, 2019. They have always been reliable and prompt to address any issues. I had to call them out last Christmas eve and they came out! I highly recommend getting a Service plan, for me, that means a sense of security if anything goes wrong. read more

They came out this past January when my furnace stopped working on the coldest night of the year, it was a Friday night, they showed up in just an half hour from time of call, they had the parts needed to do the repair on their truck, a new transformer and a new controller. They responded and did a great job even though I'm not a regular customer of their's. In fact I never had used them before, that says allot about their dedication to customer service. I'll just try to make this as short as I can.. Someone came out over a month ago told us our compressor was bad in our unit. Said that they would call the company of the unit and find out if it was still under warranty for us and that if it wasn't he'd have to order the part. We were to receive a call back in a few days with more information on the next steps. We sat around waiting & waiting.. No call. We called them over four times during this time wondering what was going on no answer & no calls back. At no point did we receive a call back about the compressor that needed fixed. I called one last time after weeks of waiting left a voicemail got a call back from a lady shortly after only to be told they marked the bad compressor in the system? The conversation was short. She sounded frustrated like I was interrupting something. This being my first time dealing with a situation like this. I had more questions I wasn't sure where this left us moving forward. So I called back again.. no answer. Left another voicemail just simply asking for some guidance on what the next step is in this process because again this was my first time dealing with something like this and still I haven't received any call back. And that's not even including the very first time they sent someone out to the house for a simple cleaning. The guy had absolutely no idea what he was doing. He took pictures of our unit & stood around talking pretty much his entire visit. Long story short I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. I finally took my business elsewhere. not sure how they are to work with but they have at least one driver who needs some lessons, or both. tailgating people on Route 39, literally all I could see in my mirror was the grill of his truck. making hand gestures to get me to speed up (was doing 45 in 45 zone with a line of traffic in front). not the first time it's happened. Ten stars if I could. Our central air quit in the middle of very hot weather, so I came here to Yelp to find a repair service. Every one of the other reviews that mentions Tapper & Sons' honesty, friendliness, flexible scheduling, and courteousness are spot on. I spoke with Rob on the phone; he said they'd had 13 calls that morning and even more later, but they were planning to work until all of the calls were done. His son Robbie came to help us a few hours later -- he fixed the A/C expertly and quickly, and the bill was so reasonable. Call them the next time you need HVAC work, they are the BEST. read more

Highly recommended! Tapper and Sons saved me $1400 today by just repairing what needed fixed on my outdoor heat pump. Another business had quoted me $1800 for coolant and a valve (that apparently wasn't broken - thanks T&S). The two technicians who came out were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable...and most importantly discovered the valve was fine, there was no coolant leak anywhere, and hooked me up with a couple pounds of coolant and the A/C is back working like it should. After being nearly pressured into spending $1800 on something that wasn't even broken, I rather spent $400 on coolant. Tapper and Sons have just made themselves a life long customer! There are honest businesses out there, and this is absolutely one of those. A+! read more

Think twice: The Tapper installers of our new HVAC system were professional, efficient, organized and very neat. The performance was as good as you could want. That was the only professional part of our dealing with them. At best they are amateurish and at worst they are incompetent. I received a handwritten quote with a price and brief description of the HVAC system. No detail about the model of furnace or A/C. I was told it'd be the same as what I had before but with an upgraded product from American Standard. Then I received a handwritten receipt! No details of the items I paid for. Turns out they installed a single stage furnace and had removed a 2-stage furnace. We argued for 2 days about whether I had a 2-stage unit or single stage. They were sure the company that installed it never installed 2 stage systems. I finally produced the quote and receipt for the prior system and then they believed I had a 2-stage system. At that point they did replace it with a 2-stage system and on the new receipt hand wrote I change my mind about what I wanted and out of the "goodness of their hearts" they replaced it at no additional cost. They were just trying to rip me off. The system ran great for about 9 months, about 3 months of winter then 5 months of summer then 1 one month of winter. At that point the second stage operation began failing. Again, they argued that was the way the system should run. When they finally accepted that fact is was not performing properly after almost 2 weeks, they stopped in and without looking at anything or testing anything with test equipment, they replaced the thermostat. The furnace started and they left. Never trying to experience the failure. The same failure occurred. I called and told him it wasn't the fix, so he offered to come out and disable the second stage feature. Told him that would defeat the whole purpose of a 2-stage system. He agreed then said he'd contact the factory to find out what to do! Over a week went by without hearing from them. And I hired a professional certified company for American Standard, even though I had a 1-year parts and service guarantee. The professional company showed up, and their first comment was the problem I had could NOT be caused by a thermostat. Then ran tests on the furnace with equipment and found the issue within 30 minutes! Look online for American Standard installers in the area. You'll see a list and Tapper & Sons is clearly there. Unfortunately, they are the only installers in the area NOT certified on American standard products. Wish I did that search before. I'll pay for the service call instead of sending the bill to Tapper because I'm done arguing with him.
