We visited on a Wednesday night, when flights are discounted and there is Trivia. Being the off season, the brewery was only open in the upper area that I had never seen before. It had giant comfy couches, tall ceilings, and beautiful, upscale decor that made this feel like a glamorous experience. Our server was extremely personable and knowledgeable, what a delight! He answered our tons of questions and had great wine recommendations for my friend. We got conflicting information from the hostess vs the server on whether food was available and what time they closed, which seemed a little odd. Ultimately I was able to order off the abbreviated trivia food menu, and really enjoyed the Winter Vegetable Flatbread with sweet potato, Swiss chard, kale, and gruyere - very unique recipe with lots of distinct flavors that came together beautifully! The crust was soft and I dipped it in some beer cheese that came with my friend's pretzel (the cheese seemed a little watery to me but had a distinct beer flavor, so bonus points for actually being a beer cheese!) I couldn't tell if a couple of my beers got rearranged on my flight board, so wasn't sure which I liked and didn't. One was smokier than I would have thought it would be but had a sweet taste. The Boch was a bit bitter for my taste. I really enjoyed the White Stout most of all to my surprise - normally a heavier beer is just okay and not the favorite of my taste buds, but this one was so unique in style and crispiness. The beers all seemed very European leaning and authentic in flavor, although a bit on the heavier / less sweet side (fitting for the colder weather but not my personal favorite). The trivia host seemed to have a lot of regulars and the volume wasn't overbearing, I'll have to check it out again and actually play next time. Peaceful setting overlooking the vineyard. The wine was good, cider excellent, and beer was fairly solid, but it was a ridiculous $18 for the flight. I had the Cape Vod Po Boy, overall pretty good but a bit too much bread. The house made potato chips were the true star of the show, best chips we have ever had. Last year for my Valentine birthday we had a fun evening at Taproot but this year it was a total disappointment. Next year we'll definitely go elsewhere. We had a reservation so upon arrival we were quite surprised to learn we were dining in a different location than we had anticipated. Our table felt like it was in the middle of all the traffic and our food was just ok. My husband had the cod sandwich. The roll was too bulky and the sauce which is in place of tarter, he really disliked. Luckily, he had that on the side. My burger was really bland and dry. Last year the menu options were not only more tasty, but more enjoyable. Nothing like a birthday dinner out that falls short. read more

Came here while in town on business. Nice pleasant spot out of the way of the touristy area of Newport. Nice little vineyard with cute outdoor patio. However, I was disappointed with the chowder. It lacked flavor and had a very runny consistency. The strawberry crème brûlée was good, but the top was burnt instead of caramelized properly, which affected the overall taste. The service wasn't bad, but it seemed a bit off after I mentioned that the chowder was only "okay." My table also tried the monkfish tacos, and the Tap burger. While in the Newport area visiting family for Thanksgiving we stoped here on a rainy day to check it out. So glad we did! The brewery staff was super friendly and the beer was great, my husband and I both tried flights to get a feel for a variety of the beers they had on tap. I tried Comet, F-Bomb, Happy, and Chaos. They were all great. Also their food is made from scratch, and is sourced locally farm to table. To say it's insanely good doesn't even do it justice. You have to go there and try it for yourself to understand it. Unfortunately, I don't drink wine so I can't give a review as to the wines they serve. The grounds of the winery itself are absolutely gorgeous. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Stunning atmosphere! We stopped in early in the day. Unfortunately needed a reservation, set one up for later in the evening. This gave us the opportunity to take a look outside on a beautiful November day. Gorgeous property! When we returned for the reservation- our reservation was lost (even though their employees set it up as we waited earlier in the day.) Luckily, as it was late there were tables available. My husband had a sampler and pregnant me ordered pretzels. Have to say- the cheese was delivered to the table with a skin layer on top like it has been sitting out for awhile. For such a nice place this shocked me. Also, it was a beer battered cheese. As we stop at breweries a lot to meet my husbands interests, I have come to love beer cheese. I was disgusted by the flavor or lack there of with Taproots cheese. I also found their pretzel hard and lacking flavor. I can say my husband really liked their beers. Infused with grapes. Was visiting Newport and our beach day got cancelled bc of rain, so we headed here for a beer and wine tasting. Love that they have both a brewery and winery at the same facility. It worked out perfect for a wine-living gal and her beer-loving husband. We didn't have a reservation but the host up-front was super sweet and got us a table. Love how they are doing their beer and wine flights and we had a good time each trying four of them. We also got the chips and salsa and the salsa was delicious! Nice and fresh. I had the Summa Clucah sandwich and it was delicious. The bread was nice and doughy. My friend had the fish sandwich and loved it. The pork and pickle pizza was also really good. The wine flights are plenty for people who are not big drinkers. It's a nice way to try 4 different flavors or wine or beer. Our favorite wines were the Great White, Island White, and the Merlot. For dessert we had the Summer Treats and they were ok. Coffee was kinda cold and super expensive for what it was. The white sangria was ok but the wine was better. What a find!!! I hadn't been to Newport in quite some time, other than an in and out day trip for a wedding. So when we were already close by, I decided to check out what I thought was still only a winery. Much to my liking they had added on not only a brewery but a nice restaurant as well! I'm unsure which I l enjoyed more; the wine, beer, or the food. Wait maybe the venue...... I think I'll throw a party just to use the space(there's plenty of if.) Seriously this venue is perfect for bachelor or bachelorette parties, birthdays, or even work related events. This is the restaurant at Newport Vineyards and it was the best meal we had during our time in Newport. The wine was delicious - we had two tasting flights and ended up buying some bottles on our way out! The salad was very fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend the cheesy spinach dip as well! Came here for dinner and beer for my husband. It's part of the Newport Winery building which also has a restaurant and it's a pretty cool setup. So we were here on the coldest day and I was freezing the whole time we were there and had to keep my jacket on. I am never cold so this is not normal for me. We started with the Pretzels and Quahog chowder. Both came out piping hot which was great! The pretzels were good and the chowder was my favorite part of the night and ate the entire thing! Also super cute presentation. Then for dinner I had the Mac and cheese and my husband had the burger. The burger was tasty but the bun to meat ratio was off and there was too much bun to meat. The Mac and cheese was okay but really lacked seasoning I needed salt and pepper and then I think that would have made it really good! The cornbread on top was interesting it was kind of chewy and I'm not sure it was a good concept to the dish. However it was a great portion size for the price! I was unable to partake in the beer as I'm pregnant currently but I did grab some to go for when I can partake in a little over a month . We'll definitely be back I wish I could give it 3.5 stars because that's where we were at when we left but it wasn't our favorite. read more

This place is located on the Newport Vineyards and is separate from the tasting room. We got the cheese board which came with 3 kinds of cheese, spiced nuts, and various fruits. No I do fiction on flights for beer or wine. Usually at these places with tastings the staff goes into great details about the choices. Had to send back my Sauvignon blanc and what I got in place of wasn't much better. My local tomato dish with burrito looked beautiful but lacked flavor as well as the potato salad w/arugula. My boyfriend and I took my parents here for lunch about two weeks ago while visiting from out of town. Unfortunately the vineyard doesn't offer tours like they used to, but most of the grounds is open for free roaming if you want to walk around / take photos etc. The day we went it was gray and rainy, so the patio covers were pulled down - but the view of the vineyard from the patio was still good. I imagine on a warm sunny day it's amazing on the shaded patio with the covers up. We went for lunch, and the menu is largely what I imagined - elevated American pub fare. We shared the cheese board to start. Then my dad and I each got the Fried Fishwich, my mom got one of the pizzas, and my boyfriend got a Kimchi Turkey Wrap. The fish sandwiches and pizza were good, my boyfriend says the Kimchi Turkey wrap was just okay - apparently it was lacking on the Kimchi flavor profile, and tasted more like an ordinary Turkey wrap. The wine and beer selection was also good. I was impressed with the attentiveness of the waitstaff; they had a duo walking around exclusively talking wine/beer orders so you didn't have to wait long for a refill. read more

This is the first brewery I've ever visited that is nestled within a winery! Personally, I think it's great that there's options for wine and beer lovers alike, so if you're going with a group, the odds are that there's something for everyone. If I could rate the food and beer independently of each other I would give the food a 4 and the beer a 3. It would average out to a 3.5 if Yelp allowed half stars, but alas! The beers I sampled in my flight didn't really hit the mark for me, minus the Vineyard Pilsner. I'm not into hoppy beers so the IPAs I sampled were too bitter for me. If you're into IPAs then you'll be fine. I had wished they had a wheat beer or a sour on draft, but maybe they will the next time. The food and service here is stellar. There's ample choices for snacking or a full meal. The pretzel is only $5 and it came out piping hot and perfectly salted. The Mac & Cheese was excellent too and I'd recommend that to anyone that comes in. It coming out in a cast iron dish, and you should have enough to bring home unless you're really hungry! read more

It seemed like the staff were rushing to leave as we saw them all running out. The food was just okay. The pastrami was very fatty and I honestly should have returned it. The braided roll it was on was pretty neat . The cheese cake was delicious but needs a little more Carmel sauce on the place.
