Made a call to get some information about bats and it was a good conversation and helpful

I hope our tax dollars don't pay for this, because the service is ridiculous. I had a rescue cat bite through both my thumbs at the beginning of the weekend. Obviously I couldn't get a hold of them till Tuesday, but I submitted a report that next morning at the hospital. I finally called them told him where the cat was what happened they said they don't catch cats that I have to catch it myself. I said, catch it myself it bit through my thumbs, I tried. She said well we don't catch them! I said well she's just gonna sit outside then because I can't catch her and I'm not letting her in with my eight-year-old daughter. I waited for a response and she had already hung up. So I go and purchase a wire pet carrier and leather gloves to catch her with with my own money, I called them back and this time a guy answers, and he says oh you caught her OK we can get him get her but if you wanna turn her over it's gonna be $50 I said OK can I just pay that over the phone? and he said no we don't take payment payments over the phone or cards. I was like all I have is cash, he said OK we'll talk about that in person. I'm like what the heck! so I have to catch the animal myself pay to do all of that risk my own safety after already being injured then I still have to pay them, but only in cash. Feels a lot like extortion. (UPDATE): A guy showed up to pick her up, collected the cash, had me fill out another form. Took the cat in the carrier to his vehicle. I told him just keep her in it, he can keep it. He didn't do that, he tried to get ahold of her in the middle of the road with big gloves on and in a large dog sized carrier she was in. So she climbed up his gloves, scratched the shit out of him, then ran off. He then came and gave me the 50$ back, said he was gonna get some traps and come back. Would rate this place a zero star if I could. Horrible employees with very rude customer service. They act like you are the worst person in the world for returning a pet that was PURCHASED from them in the first place, because it wasn't a fit with the family. Yet they make you sign an agreement that severely limits your ability to actually find a friend whom can take the animal instead. Lets not act like this place isn't making money off of people. If they really cared about the facility FULL of pets, maybe consider lowering adoption prices by about 90%. Won't be going here again until nicer employees replace the two RUDE women. read more

maybe it's the heat of the moment... or maybe it's the fact that my dog was covered in feces when i paid 156 dollars to get him out. my dog (11 month old GSD puppy) is an amazing dog. no problems with him. he got out and you know the drill. they didn't even tell us if he was there, it was constant attitude. a bandanna is now a collar i guess? i'm not the worst person in the world because my dog ran away. i'm paying your stupid fine to get him back. anyways, covered in feces, and i noticed a unhydrated tongue. My puppy drank half a bowl of water before i made him stop. also tried to get me to pay 50 dollars more for "pekin city limit" knowing dang well they picked him up on Red Shale Hill Road. No where near the city. so they tried playing more games. totally unexpected and i'll make sure i never get treated the way they treated me all because my dog got out. maybe have a positive attitude before you know a situation. my dog is a future champion AKC. no need to be covered in poop. read more

This is a horrible place the staff is incompetent n very rude. How do people who look at these family members like just dogs is beyond me. My shitty neighbor pried open my fence n let my dogs out then called animal control while we were at the hospital while my daughter was having my grandson they impounded my dogs (which are more like my son n grandson than they are animals or pets)who where in my sons care at the time then charged us with running at large n claimed we were irresponsible owners n told me I had 7 days before my dogs would be euthanized. When I called n explained the situation to the man he was rude n obnoxious n all he could say was well u have an excuse for everything well yeah sir the truth is the truth so whatever. I got my dogs back after almost $400 n they smelled like cow manure n chicken shit n had poop on their paws n my babies will not go to the bathroom in a kennel or the house for a day they are both kennel trained n house broken n I know they won't use the bathroom because I have had to work an open to close a few times where they unfortunately were in a kennel for almost 13 hours straight so they couldn't have taken them potty or they had em in with other dogs n their feces but since I picked them up my poor baby son has been sick with vomiting n diarrhea since he came home. Idk what they did to him or what they fed him or if he caught something while he was there for the 2 days but I'm gonna flip shit if something happens to him n yes I will take him to the vet as soon as I get paid again cuz that money broke me but I guess that's their plan to make it so you can't afford ur loved ones. My babies are pitties btw even though it doesn't matter n they aren't violent or aggressive we go to the dog park all the time they are dog friendly n people friendly hell their favorite people are 3 yrs old 2 yrs old n a 6 day old. These people ain't shit n they are incompetent n irresponsible asf. No stars for this place is an accurate review or better yet negative stars would be great. I heard they where a no kill shelter but that man told me they would kill my babies. They also said when I mentioned the reviews I had read that I shouldn't be reading reviews from stupid owners who are irresponsible n can't keep track of or take care of their animals because the reviews were written by people who were mad for their own incompetence read more

The receptionist I spoke with was very condescending and rude. Learn customer service before you start answering a phone at a business.

I would never tell someone not to do business here due to the negative experience I've had b/c that would only hurt the animals that they care for, however, I do want to point out how disrespectful and unprofessional the woman answering the phone was to me this morning. I found a turtle on the highway on my way to work. It was upside down and had blood coming from their back end. I called a vet in Pekin and they told me to contact Tazewell Animal Control b/c they would know who I can take it to. (I'm not from this area, and google can only help so much) When I called them to explain the turtles condition the woman said "we can take him, but I don't know what you want me to do with it". Not only was she rude, but she didn't try and assist in any way. I was sorry I called. When you're in the profession to help animals, you should be a bit more concerned when someone calls about an injured animal, no matter what kind of animal it is. Her tone of voice and her attitude is not acceptable. read more
