I remember everything being authentic and really tasty but they may have gone down in quality a bit. We ordered a bunch of items and some were okay some were a bit disappointing. The Al pastor picaditas were actually really tasty but it was delivered I a bit of a mess, so I had to reconstruct them. The pineapple and pork had good flavor though. The quesadilla was kind of a mess and weirdly put together with lettuce. The flavor (chicken tinga) was OKAY. The birria tacos were the most disappointing. Although good by taco standards, birrias are everywhere at this point and they do not compete with the other neighborhood favorites. Love this place. So you're probably thinking, why would I stop in there when there are so so many taco carts on Roosevelt. The answer is chairs and a/c. Homemade Taqueria is conveniently located right next to the train, that means you can stop on the way there or the way home. I typically will stop in on the way there to get some food in me before going wherever I'm going. This is a pretty chill place with prices comparable to all the taco carts on the street. Sure, they'll charge you tax, but what you get for the extra $$$ is a chair, a/c, and the chance to relax. The tacos are good and come with all the extras --- lime, radish, sauce, etc etc. Honestly, there's not much extra to say about them. What they're offering is obvious and what they do, they do well. I've been to this location many times--it's always busy and always delicious. You can even watch them making fresh corn tortillas outside, which adds to the experience. Once you order, they give you bottles of their sauces, so you don't have to keep asking for more--super convenient. I usually get Combo #1 or #2--they come with a taco, quesadilla, and tostada. My favorite meat is the al pastor--perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The asada was okay, but a bit dry for my taste. The ambiance was cute in here! It looks like they have a section in front of the restaurant where you can order to-go outside and watch them make the food fresh. Service was super quick! We made a stop here randomly before heading to the airport and they had our food out in about 10 minutes. Tacos were decent though. A really solid taco place that I'm so glad opened up! I've ordered here from a handful of occasions and my order is always ready at the pickup time. My favorite taco is definitely the al pastor taco but I also really enjoyed the fish taco, as well as the steak taco. I love getting a side of red sauce for that extra kick but it's definitely just as good without. I also especially love their birria taco and the side of consume that comes with it. Homemade Taqueria is my new go-to spot! Went with my husband after work - it's right by the Roosevelt/74th station, super easy to find. It's much nicer than eating from the taco trucks if you want to sit down and enjoy your meal. Everything is clean and the staff is friendly. You can watch them make fresh tortillas at the front - que padre! I had the quesadilla del puesto and ay dios moo, so good! The portions are big too, so you get what you pay for. Great place for delicious tacos in Jackson Heights. At any given time (lunch, dinner, weekends, etc), you'll find this place busy. We've ordered food to go and also stayed. The venue is accommodating for small children (they have one high chair), and the servers are good. You can see where some of the staff make the tortillas out front for the quesadillas and other meals. Overall, we really enjoy coming here when we want tacos or cemitas!! read more

Jackson Heights has no shortage of great food, and this branch of the Homemade Taqueria is no exception. The simple dining room is very relaxed, almost cafeteria-style. The menu is broken down by category: tacos, tortas, encheladas, nachos, quessadillas, tostadas, burritos, huaraches, and picaditas. Given that the tortillas are homemade (hence the name), we ordered a couple of tacos, an order of huaraches, and some guacamole. As expected, the tortillas and, therefore, the chips were excellent. They also offer fresh juice, so I ordered a lemonade and watched them squeeze fresh lime into the blender, which was terrific. The food arrived with three sauces: a roasted tomatillo salsa, a "guacamole" style sauce, and a spice chile sauce. All were hard to stop eating. Of the two tacos we ordered, the Beria was much better. The chicken taco was a little bland, but that's what the salsa was for. The Huaraches were tasty; I ordered them with Al Pastor, which came with lots of pineapple mixed in. Many people ordered quesadillas, which looked fantastic as well. If you are in the area, it's a fun spot to pop in and have a quick bite. You can even sit on the stools by the window and watch the tortillas being made outside. When you first walk into this place, it really looks like you're going to get some good tacos. I ordered the steak tacos. It seems the steak were grilled and then boiled. It was dry and had absolutely zero flavor. Usually, every other taqueria puts something on top whether it would be guacamole or some kind of green salsa. This place gives it to you dry as a bone. The prices are stupid, too. $5 and change for a taco? Granted, these tacos are filled more than any taco I've ever had. I mean, they really had a lot of meat in them. But the flavor was absolutely bland. This place is definitely quantity over quality. Usually, I can get three tacos and a soda for $13. I paid $20 here for the same food. No bueno. Every single taco truck along the street makes better tacos and MICH CHEAPER. Maybe not as big, but definitely more enjoyable. While most restaurants seem to want to go out of their way to please the customer. This place seems to go out of their way to be mediocre. I tried it once. I see no reason to ever come back here. Writing this review after trying it several times over the past few months. Our first time going to this location was about a month after it opened and I had ordered nachos while my partner ordered several tacos. It took a ridiculously long time (~30-45 min) for our food to come out (and it wasn't busy at all) but the biggest put-off was when a couple of bites in, I found SEVERAL STRANDS OF HAIR in the nachos. I discreetly brought it to the attention of the employee at the front (since it was a new place) and they uninterestedly told me their cook staff wear hairnets. They then proceeded to go to the back and my spouse heard them tell the cooks to put hairnets on. On top of that, there was no apology or offer to comp anything we had ordered, which is pretty terrible other than the fact that we FOUND HAIR in my food. The most recent interaction, we thought "hey, it's been a few months, maybe they got their stuff together" - we ordered delivery and my spouse, who has an iron stomach, felt so uncomfortable and unwell the rest of the night. Also, the portions were tiny and lacked flavor. Pretty set on never coming back here again and I hope they change their whole system up. Super disappointed - we were excited to see them open since we've only had good experiences at their Maspeth location. If you have the means, just go to Maspeth - this Jackson Heights location is not worth your money or super long waiting time read more

Made a quick stop here after taking the bus from LaGuardia Airport to Roosevelt Avenue. Looks very new and clean, and a nice selection of tacos (and other Mexican food). We got fish tacos and vegetarian tacos; both were very good and hit the spot. Agua frescas were also very nice (though a bit on the expensive side). Definitely a good find! read more
