My Favorite place to Mexican food in Firebaugh. Their Menudo is the Best and they give you the option of with or without hominy. Rice and beans are so good. Their shrimp whether it be the botana or tacos or al mojo de ajo is The Best shrimp from any restaurant. I also love to eat their tortas de Chile verde. Definitely my go to spot when in town for work. I love the campechana shrimp and octopus coctel. I always have one along with two al pastor tacos with the works including whole beans on the tacos trust me you must try them. Had one carne asada taco today just to change it up and it was very good but I still prefer their al pastor. Only reason I'm giving 5 stars is the place needs to be updated with new seats and tables. read more

Old divey restaurant, used to be a coffee shop I think. But great food here. Both times that I've been here. First time had cheese enchiladas with rice & beans. The plate was huge, hard for me to eat it all. Enchiladas had sour cream & lettuce on top. Last week had a chicken burrito. Didn't think that I would be able to eat it all, so big. Our family has always enjoyed Don Pepe's. The food is really good, and the service is usually good, as well. We haven't experienced any sub-par servers, however, if they are pretty busy, we have been somewhat forgotten. Still, the food typically balances that out. We like the asada, the grilled chicken, the pastor, and the variety of house-made salsas. Many rave about the lingua (not me, lol), and many out-of-towners enjoy the shrimp. The only drawback, for some, is the atmosphere. We don't mind it, but, some stay away due to the abundance of "employees" (often 4 - 6 family/friends/helpers sitting at the counter) and their belongings that seem to be stored at various points at the taqueria. Also, the restaurant was old when Don Pepe's moved in, and there has been very little in the way of improvements or updates. There are several options in Firebaugh for Mexican food, and each has their own unique qualities. But, Don Pepe's has some of the best food in town. read more

Disappointment! What happen to this place? This use to be the spot in Firebaugh for good food, now the love that went into running the business is gone. Just a job. Felt so unwelcome, felt like we we're invading they're family time. Weren't too happy to service us. The food was over priced & no taste. I usually take my leftovers home but not this time. Shrimpy beers are the best! The service and food here are top quality and this place has an absolutely wonderful vibe. The salsa with chunks of avocado is great as well as all of the dishes I have tried. We have been there a few times, I get seafood what ever, but Sue has settled with a very large burrito, a Chile Verde burrito, wet with a lot of stuff in it. I use her extra sauce for my plate of what ever. Have a beer, chips and salsa, visit with friends and enjoy. read more

Great food, decent service, quite, bar attached, great price. The Super Nachos and the Chile verde burritos are my favorite. Its aways an agony to decide wich one i want so sometimes i get both. The place was busy as hell when we pulled up for dinner but that's always a good sign. Went in and was seated right away. Normal chips and salsa, ordered a beer and it had a slice of lime and a shrimp with it, great touch!!! I ordered the carne asada which was great and my boyfriend ordered the el pastor which was amazing as well. They offer a salsa bar which is always nice. It started off with great service then a terrible outcome. Everyone knows that the entire family always has to be there which isn't a problem but if you're going to be all loud talking shit about the customers and making false accusations then you need to reevaluate the situation you have going on in this fucking building. I always come here with my family and as a customer almost always satisfied, but after today don't count on me ever returning. We as in 3 customers ordered our plates and drinks still no issues and then my friend happens to find a hair in the food as he is eating the waitress simply refers back to him saying "not to say anything but it could of been from your beard" when the hair was the length and thinness was more of an eyelash she also said it couldn't have been from the cooks because it wasn't mixed in the cheese when the hair was on the bottom of the fries the cheese and toppings were not placed before the fries. Then we're still eating okay big deal? Then I find a hair on my plate and I brought to attention of the man he then tried to say it could've been my hair the plate is oval and I'm pregnant there's not way I'm going to eat over the plate on the table when my tummy is in the way and the placement of the hair was on the opposite side of where I was eating, he then said it could have been from the waitress NORMA. Whatever it was I was already almost done with my food I wasn't going to make a big deal I just told him it was okay I was almost done anyways. Then all you hear is the women who are the daughters and wife probably cousins idk talking a whole bunch of crap I just said it was okay I wouldn't have minded paying for it when I was already almost done like what the heck? Another dumb lady comes out all brave and mighty saying we didn't pay for our drinks why are we trying to leave without paying, and I'm like what the fuck well why didn't you include it if were all together? We thought that's what we paid for? And she's like well no she didn't include the drinks and at this point I'm pissed off I was talked about, accused of things, then this. So I go up in there and the NORMA lady said something which I didn't let her talk I just yelled at her why tf didn't she include the drinks when we thought we had already paid for it and the other lady has the audacity to say "I DoNT kNoW WhY ShEs MaD" hello idiot you're all over there talking a bunch of shit and making a biggo fucking thing out of nothing, with her stupid ass attitude when she could have just said nicely hey mam they didn't charge you for your drinks. I finally had an opportunity to try this place. It is far less crowded and much more roomy than the other 2 Don Pepe's in Fresno. They have the same, crisp, fresh and delicious pico de gallo as the other 2 locations. The fish tacos were a little bit different but still delicious. The shrimp tacos were phenomenal. I've never tried them at the Fresno DPs, but I'm looking forward to the comparison. read more

Good and friendly service. Food was delicious! Old building with dingy bathroom but didn't really matter because the food is what matters. I had chorizo, beans, rice and tortilla. This Mexican restaurant is so good and the service is great. The owner is usually around and is very friendly. The selection of salsas that they have is a lot. The food is delicious and fresh. This is the second time i went. My kids got tuna sandwiches they are 7.00 each its just on regular sliced bread tuna from a can didnt taste like it had any mayo or seasoning or anything way overpriced. I got lengua tacos, carnitas tacos, al pastor tacos. Al pastor was okay if the tortilla was good i wouldve liked it, the lengua and carnitas tastes so plain like as if the meat was just boiled no seasoning whatsoever the corn tortillas tasted kind of old and were cooked with no oil it seemed. Last time i went was a year ago and i got shrimp cocktail it was also flavorless it felt like it was missing something. They need to add seasoning and possibly some oil to fry the meat and tortillas in for it to taste good and tuna sandwich come on one can of tuna is a dollar which you only used half, bread is a dollar a whole loaf you only used two slices. 3.00 is reasonable for tuna, but needs mayo at least. We can salt and pepper it. The fresno location on shaw the food is amazing but this one really missed the mark read more

We ate here recently and have mixed reviews... it was a very "homey" atmosphere. Obviously a family run restaurant... Nobody greeted us when we walked in, so we just sat wherever; then a lady asked what we wanted to drink and quickly brought it to us; another lady brought us chips & salsa (the salsa fresco is DELISH but hte chips were stale) another girl who was applying makeup at the counter came over and took our order; then another lady brought us our food (resonable timing); the food it self was okay (better than taco bell but not the best Ive ever had) the Horchata was drink was really good; it got really loud at times from the people who were playing Yatzee at the counter; and there were a few children running around & coming up to our table (this didnt bother me because I have kids but it may not be pleasent for other people) Overall Im not sure if I'll eat here again... but it wasnt the worst place Ive ever ate at either~ Oh on the plus side, it was SUPER cheap! =) read more

I used to come to this place often but the last visit was just awful mostly cause of the old ladies working there always sitting down and talking about the costumers like if it was high school all over. They don't even go check up on you during your meal and the only time you see them again is when you go pay. The food was not even that good it's always over priced. Also the conditions of the place is disgusting like it's not hard to get off ur seat and clean, their like 10 people working there and they can't even bother to do anything but just gossip. They have the placed looking like a day care, toys and junk thrown everywhere and their kids just roaming around. You can hear them yelling at the kids. I called to the place. A girl answered the phone, I told her the issue, she gave me an attitude. That I should have checked the burrito before I left.( like if I am the cook)... Went back to the restaurant, and spoke to the manager. Told him what happen. It seem like he really didn't care about the issue.. He told me the cook will just make me another one. I got my order and went home. When I arrived home. I bit the burrito it was finally a asada burrito. But, the avocado in the burrito, had a dark color to it. Like if it was old..
