The best authentic mexican food in town! I drive all the way from fresno just to eat here. Their shrimp nachos are my absolute favorite! Make sure you come hungry because they're a huuuuge portion and enough for two!! If you are sitting at the bar make sure to ask for Alicia, she's the best and makes bomb drinks. Her memory is so good that she remembers all the regular customers orders right when they walk in. She will definitely take care of you and make sure you leave beyond satisfied. Madera food industry is small compared to Fresno's. I am always looking for new spots to dine at in Madera without running into my clients as this town is so small you will either run into a co-worker or a client. They had poppin Spanish and Today's music on. I can tell this place can get down at Night Time as it looks like it turns into a Night Club. When we entered we were greeted and seated. Our waitress was kind. We ordered al pastor nachos and I got a spicy shrimp taco which was good but I had better. I've been trying to find Nachos in Madera and I finally found the spot. The Nachos were delicious and yummy. I tried both chicken and al pastor and I think the chicken was delicious. The prices are decent and drinks as well. The staff was friendly. Definitely a fun place to have lunch. I hear the night life is poppin but I won't be participating as definitely my clients frequent this place often. Ok so we wanted to support local and We ventured out last night for a dinner date and picked TJs. We Ordered street tacos and they were ok, we ordered the garlic shrimp nachos and they were mediocre , we asked for Pico on the side ( hence we didn't want onions, the waitress took it upon herself and offered to make Pico de Gallo without onion ( nachos came out with onion so we asked if they could give us some without onion, they brought us back the same nachos with a few onions picked off. There were still onions throughout the nachos , the shrimp had zero flavor and barely any beans and cheese. The salsa is watery and the Michelada was a 7/10... All in all it is a place maybe for basic street tacos but that's about all. read more

While searching yelp for a place to have dinner during a work trip, I came upon Tijuana's Bar and Grill. $1.00 tacos were probably the draw for me. I pulled open the wooden door from Yosemite to hear some banda. I walked in to see a bar and restairant full of happy people. I bellied up to the bar and was warmly greeted by Jorge, the owner, with a handshake. Jorge greeted a number of regulars during the course of my stay but kept coming back to make me feel very welcome. Following his recommendation I had the shrimp taco a la diabla (flavorful but not spicy), not a dollar but delicious! I also had some $1 carnitas tacos and some nachos (pictured). Anna was a great waitress and great with directions for othet points of interest around town. The music was from a jukebox with a great selection and the clientele used it - heard some Prince! Service was good, the waitress I had today during lunch hour was really nice and gave us plenty of time to think about our order selection. Our chips and salsa were bland, they didn't feel like they were fresh. My chicken sope didn't have much flavor and most of the meat felt really dry. I also found the price for just the sope to be rather pricey, it was close to $6 and I had to order the rice and beans separately paying $2.50 for each one. Loved the patio atmosphere and music, but the food, maybe it was what I ordered, I saw a photo menu on the window when we entered and the enchiladas looked yummy. Let me tell you they were not! Yuk! There was no sauce tortilla looked like it was fried with some spices on it, it was bad. Service was ok maybe they need more help serving tables, we asked for chips and salsa and never received them. I had the miss fortune of choosing this place for lunch today. My husband and I walked in and sat ourselves at the table and they were eventually greeted by our server. I ordered it took him tostada and my husband had a Chile Verde burrito. Our food came out right away, strangely it was a little too fast. The table next to us had time to have chips and salsa we we're never offered any. That's not the problem the problem is that our food was strangely ready immediately. Making me question preparation. When I got my tostada the stewed chicken tasted as if it had been taken from Frozen straight to the griddle because it was dry and hard. Sadly, had great flavor but it was too hard to eat. Had the shrimp nachos to be truefull this was really good flavor this the one item that save you from not getting 2 stars. I was not amused the vegetables where cook to perfection and so was the shrimp but this lack flavor I felt like I was have oregano soup not shrimp caldo. Just recently moved here to Madera, CA and I honestly wasn't happy with the food. I tried the Chile Verde and it was really dry no flavor at all. The Al Pastor tacos weren't all that good either. The Carne Asada tacos I'll give it a 3/5 so thats one star and the second star I'll give it to the nice pretty waiter that took our order. She was nice and seemed friendly.
