Taqueria El Compadre is one of those reliable spots I've been going to for years. The menu has a great selection, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. The breakfast burritos are huge and delicious, definitely worth trying. My usual order is the steak super burrito. Most of the time the steak is tender and really flavorful. Every once in a while it's not quite as good as other visits, but overall it's still one of my favorite burritos in town. They also have a great salsa bar, friendly staff, and the setup is easy: order at the counter, then they bring the food to your table. I went in on a Friday around 2pm and it was pretty dead inside (considering the time, not surprising). So it was very quiet and I had my choice of places to sit. I ordered a regular burrito with just the shredded chicken, whole beans and pico de gallo in it. I didn't want the complimentary chips but did get some of their mild salsa from the salsa bar. I like that I can go refill my Diet Pepsi anytime I want myself, even though when you sit down, they bring you your food and check on you like a regular restaurant. It took awhile to get my first burrito, but they had added rice to it, so I sent it back. I got the correct one within a couple minutes. The burrito was very wet and soggy from the juices of the chicken. So maybe they were mad at the miscommunication and just slapped that baby together. The taste was great. Their chicken is very flavorful. There was no eating of the actual soggy burrito though, so I just ate half of the inside after cutting it, and used a fork. I did not feel good right after eating this. I spent the rest of my evening with my friend, Mr. Porcelain God. Maybe it's just my sensitive stomach, or I got food poisoning. Not sure. First time eating here, and I was not disappointed! It was on my lists of places to visit, with all the high reviews it has, as well it should! Very clean, open atmosphere, great decor without being too much! Stephanie was amazing! I got the Flauta's combo plate, the Fajita Wrap with steak, and the two enchilada combo with shredded pork and it was SO good! Huge portions and not pricey at all! So this was our first time here, there was a line to order ...no biggie, because we were with a large group. They were quick with getting the food out and didn't make any errors- that's impressive! The food was DELICIOUS! There was a little kick to some of the dishes. They have a salsa bar- I feel like it's been forever since I've seen one of these (definitely since before COVID)! Pretty good! Loved the salsa bar! We ordered chips not realizing we got the regular ones for free, so we had quite a few of the fluffy flour chips which were delicious for sure, just not what we had expected. Our burritos were great and the restaurant itself was a nice environment to be in! We ordered at a kiosk and grabbed a table number. We filled up our own drinks and the server brought our food to us! Visited Bookish for local bookstore day and this place is right next door. Food was excellent. Finally a restaurant that knows how to season food. Once again, we indulged our addiction to the fish tacos here! They are beyond scrumptious! Ordering is done at the counter, and the personnel are friendly and quick in placing the orders and serving them to us diners. The freshly grilled fish was piping hot fresh off the grill! Situated near multiple schools this location can be very busy when school gets out. Plan your visit. Table delivery of orders, but all ordering is done at cashier. While you are queued up, you can pick from bottled wine, beer, and Jarrito's sodas. I have come here many times, trying the tacos, burritos, torta, enchiladas and even the chile relleno. What keeps me coming back is the salsa though. With mild to you better have a strong GI, you will have the heat you want, to top your order. This review is not about the food. Food is decent. But PLEASE update your hours of operation. My daughter drove from out of town. We pull up at 8:26pm hoping to have a sit down dinner to catch up. The girl at the register made it beyond clear they did not want diners sitting down. Online everywhere including their own website says open until 10pm. The cashier told us we can only get food to go because it's too close to 9- their closing time. I've never been turned away from dining inside a restaurant- especially one completely empty with half n hour left until closing. So we ordered food to go, ate in my car in the parking lot- and was done by NINE. Do better! Don't turn away diners like this and for goodness sakes UPDATE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION! Please teach your staff to accommodate customers that have very reasonable requests. read more

The grilled chicken enchiladas with green sauce is my go to, but anything with their grilled chicken is amazing. The employees are friendly and the cooks always do a great job. The look of the place has changed and updated over the years and currently the feel of the place is authentic and very local neighborhood. I understand people have bad days, but this is the third time in a row with three different people working the counter. The area around the register is getting increasingly messy, as is the area around the restrooms. Old tables, an old register, and other items make walking in front of the restroom a challenge. It was once clean with a nice bench. Also, they recently switched out to plastic plates for dine in. I'm disappointed. First & Last review. I have went twice for breakfast burrito. I cannot tell where the chorizo, eggs, beans, cheese, potatoes or ANYTHING begins or ends. It is 12 bucks for this break burrito as of Feb-March 2024. You will get a big tortilla burrito...it is all MUSH. 12 dollars of mush to be exact. Also...peering over the counter area a bit...you can see many meats just being kept warm in metal bins. Final grub rub review....guys I am one and done. The restaurant is really nice and comfy, if they had a bar I would come and sit down and fuel up. However it is not...neither of those. I think this place is a certain family, that has a niche customer base that is comfortable with bland SYSCO RESTERANT distributor foods....and LAZY customer overall. That being said...it is the consumer that is fueling this place....not the chef, the cooks or anyone that works prep here. There is simple not special at all, or on par at all. In the end, you get whatever the cook is making. So this is basically bar food with 1 cook, a bunch of canned and plastic wrapped cheese and the ego of Jorge Ramsey. All this being said...this is low quality, food distributor supply foods, bad grease and oils along with no skill at all to make such basic dishes. The Dining experience was Excellent! The food was delicious. This was our family's first visit and we all enjoyed our food. The only problem we faced was a couple of the meals were super spicy.
