Been going to Chilis since the 1990's and there was 2 things they were known for. Baby back ribs (I want my baby back, baby back ribs jingle) and their fajitas! It's been awhile since Ive been to Chilis and was craving for their steak fajitas. But before I go into details about the food. Let me talk about Service- 5 stars. Andrew our waiter was attentive and got us refills on the chips and salsa and my soda without asking. Everyone was top notch. Even when we left, the hosts said goodbye as we left. 5 stars for all Now we had the bottomless chips and salsa- recipe hasn't changed so tasted like what we remember. 5 stars Now my steak fajita. First thing I noticed, NO GUAC on my condiments! I asked Andrew about that and he said they took that off 5 months ago. I could add it for a fee which I declined. Now the steak fajita - Lost its sizzle , the grill plate they used is different from the cast iron they use to use. The sizzle to the table was weak. As for the steak they used, it definitely has changed. Making the fajita without the guac definitely changed the taste on my fajita growing up. And for that, I give it 3 stars My wife got the ancho salmon, seemed like she enjoyed it. I gave her more of my Spanish rice since it's a small portion they give. As a Chilis reward member, we did get the chips and salsa for free. Nice reward. 5 stars Overall, my experience was great but I doubt I will get the steak fajita again since it's not the same. The big mouth bites are delicious! They come with 4 sliders and 1 side for almost $19.00. They have mini burgers on mini buns with bacon bits, American cheese, and onions. I asked for no onions and my bacon bits to be crispy, plus got mayo on the side. I chose corn as my side dish. They no longer have the corn on the cob, it comes in a bowl. That is ok by me. My friends both ordered the "3 for me" meals. Friend one got the big crispy chicken with French fries, enchilada soup, and an iced tea. Friend two got the smashed burger, corn, enchilada soup with the tortilla strips on side, so they don't get soggy, and an iced tea. We ordered chips and salsa for the table, with the queso bowl add-on for $5.00 and some change. We actually ordered two! It is so good. Whoootie whooo, which is EXACTLY what my daughter and I did! We started with the triple appetizer with the boneless chicken with sweet and spicy sauce which was tangy and slightly spicy. My mouth is watering now. We also chose the mozzarella sticks (which are massive and EXTREME cheese pulls) and the sliders (which has a clean beef flavor). What a great combo and I was already full. We also ordered the chips and salsa, because, well, it's mandatory! Chili's has some of the best chips and salsa. Especially if you get the lucky chip (which is a chip that all of them are fried together). We split the half a slab rib with the loaded, fries and brisket quesadillas. The other entrée was the sirloin with shrimp and loaded mashed potatoes with steamed vegetables. Holy cow....I felt like I needed a wheelbarrow to take me to my car! We come into Chili's every now and again to have some greasy food to share amongst us. I do enjoy the Don Julio margarita my guilty pleasure as well as that chocolate lava cake. Now for the bad. As we were eating, a large cockroach ran under the booth we were setting in. If you see one cockroach in broad daylight, you can bet there are hundreds more coming out of the woodwork after the store closes. I tried their smash burger which was okay, but I have enjoyed their Oldtimer's cheeseburger more so in the past. My order of mediocre French fries was about 3-4times as voluminous as necessary. Quantity does not trump quality. Others in the group enjoyed their choices without complaint. The service was excellent with multiple servers doing what needed to be done in a timely and pleasant fashion. Today our take out order included a side of ranch in a to go cup and the ranch had a grilled seasoned shrimp at the bottom of the cup. When my husband went to dip his fry it hit something and he pulled it out to find a shrimp. None of our to go order included shrimp. And how a shrimp ended up in the ranch is beyond me. Hubby and I stopped in for a last-minute early dinner. It was nice to see that the facility is still clean and well-maintained. We sat in the bar area, and Sengkeo was our server; I know he has been working here for a long time. He's always very pleasant and efficient. I ordered the Santa Fe salad, and it was 10 out of 10. My husband ordered the Smashburger, and it was 10 out of 10 - the french fries were great too. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because our server Kendra was amazing! She was so nice, very attentive and made sure our drinks were always full. She checked on us about 10-12 times. She was well put together, and had a great personality. Now the bad.. we waited for 30 minutes to be seated and when it was our turn, they wanted to seat us in the bar. 1st. There was a game on and it was super loud. 2. We wanted to be able to talk to each other. When we said we didn't want to sit there the attitudes totally changed and started whispering and talking about us. I guess that's what children do. We should have been asked if we wanted to sit in there. There were also way to many people standing around the hostess counter, doing nothing. I've attached a picture. I can't lie I wasn't that excited, because there are not many Chili's in San Jose and the food is just OK. We do our walk at the mall and decided to get a bite to eat, first tired using the Charley's Cheese steak app to order lunch with a 2 for $10 small sandwiches only to continually getting nowhere but problems that wouldn't resolve, so we decided to leave and eat at Chili's across the mall instead, a MUCH BETTER IDEA!!!!
