Not as good as they use to be. I've been to this location maybe 4-5xs now. Today it just fed my hunger. The pick up line was long as usual. The male cashier had trouble speaking English and taking my order. I waited about 10mins to get the food. I had 2 steak tacos with lettuce only. They were fresh and hot off the grill, but seemed too well done and dry. They were also tough and chewy today. The quality of ribeye wasn't great either it was fatty. The salsa they gave me wasn't wet either it seemed chunky and pasty. It also lacked flavor/spice. I've been to their other location on 26th street and it's ALWAYS better and consistent with the food. I think this may be my last stop at this location. I'd rather just go to the city where ik I'll be pleased! read more

Today I came to order mexican food and when I ordered (in Spanish) the lady at the register completely ruined my order. So politely told the lady that I did not order what they gave me... so the lady kept insisting that ib did order what I was given... i even explained to her that what she gave me did not make sence... so the manager with the green shirt came up and told me that if i wanted my order fixed I would have to pay for the new order. This place has no costumer service and does not care about its costumer!!!!! And to top it off the ladys behind the kitchen were not wearing sanitary equipment to cook. Meh-I wasn't a particular fan of this one. While the price is fair for the serving, the wait was a bit too long for my taste. I will say that it was better taste-wise than the typical food court fare at the mall. I ordered the torta which had a good ratio of meat to bread and my friend ordered the chiles rellenos which were spicy, but she enjoyed it. I don't think that I would go out of my way to visit this one, but if you are in the mall and looking for a decent place for tacos, this would be a good pit stop. read more

For a Mexican place inside of the food court of a mall (North Riverside Mall), this place is a hidden gem. The food is pretty authentic and the prices are awesome! Only downside is that you're in a mall, sitting in a group seating area. I ended up getting a chicken entree in tomato sauce and a horchata. The meal came with beans, rice, lettuce, salsa, and four tortillas - all for $5.25! The chicken was falling off the bone tender and the tomato sauce was delicious. In fact everything about the meal was delicious. Unbelievably good food to be found, in all places, inside of a mall! The horchata was decent as well but I can't rave about it like the rest of the meal. I really wanted to try a homemade tamale but after eating the entree, I was stuffed. Next time! read more

This place by far has the best tacos EVER!!!! If all you know about mexican food is the kind that comes from taco bell then this is not the place for you. These are true authentic Mexican tacos and you can't get anything better than this place. The combination of beans, rice, seasoned steak and cabbage (coleslaw type salad) is heavenly. There's no other way to describe it. I wish there was a Milagro in the northside, but since this place is so unbelieavably good I definitely do not mind the hike down to the southside. My parents have been going to this place since the early 70's when it used to be called El Taco Parado, but then later changed the name to El Milagro. I've been coming to this establishment since I was a little kid and they have never changed the way they make their tacos. OMG I've found the best tacos ever thanks to my co-worker's!! This is located in the North Riverside mall (diamond in the rough). They have other locations, but this is the closest to me. Literally, at lunch time and any other time - this line is packed while all other stores are crickets. These tacos are huge, really you can get two tacos and be full. They do no skimp on the meat. They sometimes give you two large steak or chicken strips. Most times, I end up taking that extra piece of steak home to my dog. I just can't finish it all. Unlike other places that cut the meat up, I like that they give you the whole strip. I've had the steak, grilled chicken (which is my fav), and their chile relleno taco which is massive! I tried some of the Pork taco and that was amazing as well. Also, instead of the traditional onions and cilantro they put cabbage on top. I'm not big on cabbage so I pass on that, but the rice and pinto beans they put in the taco make up for that along with salsa. Prices are pretty high, but well worth it for the portions they give you and the quality of the meats. One day I would like to go to one of their actual restaurants. read more

I was so ready to write a good review for this place. I really enjoyed the tamale plate I had. I love Mexican food; it's my favorite. However, after a while I got extremely bad food poisoning and sincerely regretted going there. It's a shame, cuz the food tasted so good, but it was my first experience going here while I was at North Riverside Mall, and it just did me in really badly later that night. I'm not entirely sure what got me sick. It could have been the fact that some of their items like the rice and beans have been sitting for a while under hot lamps. I don't know for sure. Yeah, this place is overrated. They were out of three of the five things I ordered (it was a Saturday late afternoon...) and, the line wasn't long, but the wait for the food was. One lady was demanding her money back because she had waited for so long. We weren't in any hurry though. I'm glad I stuck with the tamales...they were fine (although, I only got to try the chicken ones because they were out of the pork). My husband got this steak plate that looked atrocious. The meat was so tough, it was completely impossible to eat with the given plastic fork (no knife). I might go back to try the tacos, because they did look good, but I would much rather grab a tamale OUTSIDE of the mall craziness. read more

Everything you would expect from an El Milgros! Only awkward part is its in the mall. Other than that the steak tacos are filled with massive pieces of steak, they load it with rice & beans & cabbage, they wrap all that in 2 small tortillas, & have killer hot sauce. So be prepared to eat all fallen leftovers at least with a fork. You can also ask for pieces of lime for no additional cost. I've seen them make their burritos, they're absolutely monster size! I've had their pork rinds in green sauce taco too, it had just enough spiciness workout going overboard. My hubbies tried the chocolate mole too, which he said was good. Horchata always seems like its a little heavy on the cinnamon, and extra extra sweet, & always needs to be colder. Other than that I highly recommend it! read more

OK...I may get slammed for this mediocre review but it didn't meet the hype in my view. After hearing from friends how awesome this place is, wifey and I decided to venture down to Riverside Mall to check it out. I think my wife said her chicken tamales were a-ok but the steak, which I ordered, was really tough to eat. They didn't give us a plastic knife so I had to use my teeth and hands like a caveman to dig into the chamois leather carne. The beans were really salty and the cabbage was so so.. Steak tacos-they don't skimp on how much steak they give, but as I was watching them cook it I could immediately tell that they were going to be tough. Was here a few times in the last 6 months & the tamale quality has gone DOWN! They now taste DRY when they were always moist. The red pork especially deteriorated. I think they might have changed the recipe. I use to go here especially for tamales, one can cook Mexican food everyday but not tamales. These are my favorite tacos ever. I love the fact that their grilled chicken tacos are not comprised of flavorless mystery meat stuffed in a shell as you would find at most taco joints. Theirs is a 2-3oz chicken breast flame grilled on your choice of taco shell, along with cabbage slaw, rice, beans and salsa. I always get cheese and decline the beans. I did some last minute Christmas shopping at the dump that is known as North Riverside Mall and was torn as to where to eat. So many mediocre places like McDonalds, Taco Bell, Sbarro, Subway, and then this place. I was hesitant, but gave it a try and for $6 my boyfriend and I got enough food to split and feel satiated. Who would've thunk one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area is in a shopping mall. I love the chicken plate. Grilled chicken breast, sliced thin, served with rice, beans, corn or flour tortillas and an amazing cabbage slaw. Service is efficient, maybe even a little on the crisp side. They will charge you for an extra little container of salsa. They get busy and don't have time for nonsense so know what you want and don't hold up the line. read more
