As a result, everything took a bit of time, but we understood the circumstances and didn't find it an issue. When the drinks and food arrived, we enjoyed them. The portions were large and the food was good (but I'd say, not spectacular). For a similar price, I personally enjoyed some of the other Mexican restaurants in the Gastown area, although I don't think this should dissuade anyone from checking out La Casita if there's something on the menu that interests them!

Not a big alcohol drinker so maybe I won't comment on the margarita. -Queso Fundido (25$): I think this may have been my favourite thing. I believe one of the cheeses in here was Gruyère, which I peronally really enjoy and believe adds depth and robustness to the flavour (as opposed to a less "offensive" cheese, such as mozarella. I highly recommend if you order this, given that it comes with corn tortillas, making a little cheese taco and adding their green house-maid pineapple salsa verde! It adds a delicious sweet touch. -Guacamole (16$): Classic, delicious. -Enchiladas Verdes (28$): This was the reason for my disappointment. In my personal opinion, I did not love this. Granted the portion was big, which is appreciated, but the flavour didn't do it for me. I found it overly-salted, but also lacking flavour at the same time? I also felt like it was dry on the inside/needed more sauce and cream and lettuce. It also didn't have the mexican enchilada flavour that I know and love (maybe these are from a different region than those that I'm used to?) -Asada Taco ($10.5): Not pictured, but also shockingly didn't love it. Churros (12$): Was shocked by the sauce. The sauce it came with was not cajeta, was not chocolate, but was an interesting strawberry chocolate combination? Definitely different. But definitely preferred the buñuelos (which aren't on the menu-you have to ask, and hope, for them). Overall, as mentioned previously, I think this is a pricier high-end ambiance, drinks and appies sort of place. None of the appies disappointed. The chicken enchiladas were doused with a wonderfully piquant green sauce that was perfect. We also enjoyed the assortment of guacamole, refried beans, and salsa that was served with chips as an appetizer. The margaritas are interesting here because they are served as a cocktail, shaken, not stirred, and presented in a coupe glass, which I actually really liked a lot because you get much more margarita and a real purity of flavors.

We shared the trio plate (chipotle beans, guacamole and salsa) and it was great, very filling and we loved the salsa taste. The taco platter was a perfect follow up - nice to split 2 and 2 and the veg ones were very tasty and by all accounts the carnitas were awesome too. LMC is a small restaurant where many Steveston locals have had celebrations & parties at over the years. My Strawberry Margarita was just ok - I didn't enjoy it. The steak Tacos were so-so = they lacked in flavour & pizzazz. I even forget to take pics of my Tacos. There's so many Mexican restaurants in Metro Vancouver that are way more authentic, in my view. Also had their Mexican style Street corn. This is just the kernels served on a bowl. No cob. I would pass on the corn next time. I'd probably order 3 bajas next time if I'm back in the area.

They were all liquid so more for flavor than anything chunky you might be thinking. Once was spicy and had kick which I thoroughly enjoyed. The salsa liquid was fresh but tastewise kinda meh. The guacamole was very creamy and pretty tasty, fairly simple but fresh and paired well with the fresh tortillas. The Prawn+pineapple tostada came out and looked beautifully plated though we weren't sure how we were to eat this large monstrous tostada. I tried to take a bite by holding it up normally but ended up spilling juices on my shirt and not really being able to bite a proper chunk off. I ended up using my utensils and cracking the tostada on the plate into manageable bite size pieces and eating it that way. Wifey pretty much did the same thing minus the juice spilling. I wish it had slightly more rice as the mole is super rich and a bit over powering imo. Green beans were cooked perfectly as well with a slight bite but not raw. Wifeys ling cod was plated beautifully as well.. they definitely know how to plate at this restaurant. I had a bite of her dish and the ling cod was tasty and the components of the dish worked well together. We decided to get a dessert after, no menu but were told what they had. Three options were churros, tees Leches cake with blueberries and topped with cream, or a flan. We went with the cake. Reading now exactly what that should be i think we were missing a component! We got the cake and it looked nice, the cake was sponge and the toppings were there.. but thinking back..I don't think we actually got the milk soaking the cake. The cake was dry and we were getting the moisture from the berries and cream on top. Felt unsweetened but I was kinda ok but I felt tres leches was supposed to be sweeter i think that was why we didn't actually get the main tres leches part!
