Super pastor with green and asada with red wet burrito

Went for a quick lunch hour. Such authentic decor inside, complete with music to match. I ordered a half pastor and green sauce/half asada and red sauce super wet burrito. Got a huge horchata to chase the heat from hopefully spicy salsa and chips. The employees were so super nice, the service was fast, and my plate looked so gorgeous with the half and half sauces and crema that my cohorts even wanted a photo of my plate!

Great atmosphere. Came to Ukiah and stopped here to eat. Spacious inside, food was perfect. Reasonably priced. Staff was nice, got our food within ten minuets. We came in on a weekday around 11:30 am. They do accept Apple Pay but you are not able to tip if you choose to use it, so you will need cash.

Cut up some corn tortillas, fry them up in a red sauce and your telling me this is good? Chilaquiles!!!! I now have a new comfort food favorite and you can find it here in my home town of Ukiah. I've been a regular here for past couple of years and there isn't one particular dish that I can say is the absolute best. There are so many Mexican classic entrees here that will continue to lure me. This past Saturday, it was the Chilaquiles, served with tender, juicy carnitas, fresh onion, green peppers and topped with crema and placed alongside a healthy serving re-fried beans and salsa fresca. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. And this is just the beginning of the meal choices you will find here. The carne asada and fries are truly a work of art along with the fresh hand made tamales. I promise you will not go wrong with anything on the menu. Without question, Taqueria Jalos is just as good as anything you will find in the Mission. A warm welcoming and festive (albeit a little noisy) atmosphere is an added bonus.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Their street tacos are the best in Ukiah and their prices are the most reasonable. My wife loves the veggie burrito. It's very good! UPDATE: Jalos has managed to maintain their very reasonable prices while many other restaurants have raised theirs. read more

I've tried several Mexican food restaurants in Ukiah and this one is my favorite. Easy on off freeway and parking. Really good salsas. Lots of cilantro on guacamole and tacos. Good chips and salsa. Fast and friendly service. I always end up here and I'm never disappointed. read more

Stopped in for dinner, the girls up front taking orders were very good at moving things along quickly. I really enjoyed the service Marianna provided. She came out with our food and made sure we had all we needed and made sure to check again, made my evening feel so good. It's been so long since I've had authentic Mexican food. This place is literally so delicious, from their salsa and chips to how delicious half of my burrito was. Big portions you can save to take with you for two meals in one day. Quite inexpensive as well. read more

We went to the restaurant on Sunday for a late lunch. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. You sit yours, the waitress brings you a menu. Service was good, no complaints. I drank my cola out of the bottle, requested chili relleno with enchilada combination plate, as it was not the the menu, they accommodated me. It was pretty good. Genorous portions at a reasonable price. Over all a good restaurant, nothing fancy just good food at reasonable prices read more

Taqueria Jalos claims to be the best restaurant in town. That's quite a claim. I'm a lifelong resident of Ukiah so I decided to test their theory, and was not disappointed. We went there on a Sunday afternoon, and there were a lot of people--always a good sign. The food is very authentic. I had the weekend special, birria. It was mind-blowing, filled with delicious spices, tender meat, and plenty of onions and cilantro. The side of beans and rice was also quite nice. So much goaty goodness! My mother in law enjoyed the chilaquiles. Carnitas was crispy, porky, tender, approaching amazeballs. The kids enjoyed the horchata. The tamales are freaking good too. I just ate a big Sunday lunch, and after a nap, I would go back for dinner. Honorable mention for the salsas and guacamole. Is it the best food in town? Pretty damn close. Taqueria Jalos also has my favorite sign. I want a flag that just says "food" on it. Order the birria, get your goat on, slam some Jarritos, take a nap. Perfect Sunday. read more

For $7.50 you get special burrito and it is huge! I got chile verde and the meat was really good. I couldn't even finish the burrito since it was so huge. My coworker got a $6.50 carnitas burrito with rice and beans and he couldn't finish his and his burrito was smaller than mine. I'll stick to the regular burrito next time. Lol read more

If you love spicy food that isn't just hot, but has a very good flavor base, try the Shrimp a la Diabla, it is the best I've ever had. The staff was very nice, my only complaints would be that the beans and rice were Luke warm and they don't give you very many chips with your salsa. But that's not what I came for. The Shrimp was the best and I will come back and order it again. read more

Ordered at register, lady said 10 minutes, waited 10 and order was up. It literally took me two minutes to get home, tacos felt like they had been in refrigerator. Adked for new order, she said no, refund ?, she said no. How can you serve cold tacos and deny requests for a hot order or money back. Dear lord, this place kicks all kindza ass. I work for a small-production winery in Sonoma on the weekend (I have to supplement my habit somehow) and we were coming back from overseeing a pinot pick in the Anderson Valley. And we were pow'rful hungry. while driving around Ukiah looking for sustenance, we spotted a few picnic tables under an awning with a long line of people and decided to check it out. One person manned the grill, while another handmade corn tortillas and cooked them on a well-seasoned skillet. They were thick, pillowy and perfectly darkened. All of the salsas (there were three) were made - and served - in molcajetes and were definitely not short on heat. Three tacos later (carnitas, al pastor and carne asada) and I'm still dreaming about this place and trying to scheme my way back to Ukiah. This is not your typical Mission joint. This is more rural and doesn't water down anything. If my one experience was typical, this is my all-time favorite taqueria. read more

easily the greatest value for seriously good mexican food in ukiah. i popped in and had two generous tacos and a 7up, and altogether my bill was just over $5! i would have paid $10 for the quality. best al pastor i have ever had in town. read more

I think someone dropped some Fabuloso in it or something. The rest of the salsas were watery and terrible. They did give us chips (a little stale) to wait for the food. We waited about 20 minutes for the food to get to us, and there were only 2 people other than us in the restaurant. The torta was terrible. It had absolutely no flavor. And I'm hazarding a guess that the meat was previously prepared, then microwaved. The burrito was less better, with the red sauce tasting like someone had run out of red sauce, then added a bunch of water to make more red sauce, then drenched the burrito in it. No flavor. The coke and the jarrito were good. As an extra, my son got sick from the burrito later. So there's that. No, not coming back.

I really wonder if this place will last much longer with the attitude here. When I placed my order at the counter, I started to pay but was told by the waitress that I can pay after my meal. When I was served, I asked the waitress to bring me the check. She walked away without saying anything, and then stayed away from me for the rest of my meal. I looked at her alot across the room as she did other things - she looked back at me but never brought me the check. Finally, I walked over to the counter after I finished my meal. The cashier picked out my check from the pile sitting next to the register. I held out my Visa card to the cashier, but she asked if I had cash. I looked at the Visa decal on the door, said "yes, I have cash," and still held out my Visa to her since I was low on cash. The cashier actually turned her back to me and did not turn around until I had cash in my hands. The meal itself had meat that was full of gristle. I am not planning on returning to Taqueria Jalos anytime soon. read more

Authentic to the max! Jalos is just as good as a place as you will find in the Mission (or San Diego). The Mole is thick, rich and full of wonderful flavor. The flour and corn tortillas are handmade, warm and fluffy. I also tried the carnitas which I must say were some of the most tender I have ever found. One of the best finds in Ukiah. Take the Talmage exit off 101 and head West. Turn Left on State Street it will be about a 1/4 mile down on the right (across the way from the airport) Update. From 4 to 5 stars. Since my first encounter it seems as if Jalos just gets better and better. I have now graduated onto the corn tortillas which are delightful. I stop in about once ever six weeks or so and am greeted warmly with some of the nicest people on the planet. I am still dreaming of this mornings huevos con chorizo YUM!! read more
