Overpriced and not very good. I wouldn't recommend it. First impression coming in is that it was a small Mexican restaurant. Not the best customer service bc we were ignored after asking for a couple more minutes to look at the menu. We had to ask for service after. I order the Chile rellendo burrito. It was mostly rice and beans. Very soggy and hard to eat bc the burrito was poorly wrapped and started falling apart after a few bites. Don't recommend. Maybe the four star rating came from being the best in that small town. Not sure but I definitely had a better for that price. They should reduce the price by 3/4 for that quality. read more

My boyfriend and I heard by word of my mouth that this spot was good. So we decided to give them a try. My boyfriend got tacos 1 beef and 1 chicken. The tacos were absolutely horrible. The beef was basically beef jerky and the chicken was crumbly with no color besides a strange yellow shade. It also tasted like the chicken was boiled in chicken soup broth. Staff was friendly is the only reason I am giving more than 1 star. Also the price was ridiculous for the amount of food we got. read more

Delicious and filling! I had the carnitas chimichanga, with rice and beans. The carnitas were great, crispy but tender and full of flavor. The server was very friendly. We were the only ones there for a few minutes but more people started coming in and she was able to help everyone easily. Don't let the outside deter you, it's plenty big inside and there's lots of tables. I'd stop in again if I'm in the area! read more

This is an exercise in patience and pay-off. Don't get hung up on the service, it's erratic. Now let's talk about the food. After only one visit, it's not fair for me to say this could be the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. But I'm waiting for a return visit so I can. Order one of two things: anything from the specials, and the menudo. They are kind enough that you can get the menudo Saturday and Sunday, rather than only Sunday as the hangover cure. That is the best menudo I've ever had for sure. (Even the one that I make.) From the specials we had the birria tacos. Off the charts. Plus it came with a big cup of 'consume' that we took home and just had it as the base of one of the best dishes I've made in awhile, namely shakshuka. The handmade tortillas are gems. We were told that they are going get a beer and wine license, but meanwhile there is a great solution. Down a door or two is Vic's bar. It's a local's dive bar. How do I know, because all but two people turned to see who just walked in. That's the dead give-away, after they look, relax, they are friendly. The two establishments together are the real deal. Anyway, the folks from La Palapa will bring over the food to Vic's and you can imbibe as you wish. It's all just too precious to miss. read more

Bought take out for our family one afternoon recently wanting to stay local to the Valley. We were all disappointed. We had chimichangas and burritos. Everyone found them to be very bland. Personally, I had never had lettuce inside my burrito, anywhere. Warm soggy lettuce is the worse. Others didn't like it either. Not sure we will return due to the blandness. Perhaps we will try again another time, but no promises. I am, sadly, disappointed as Mexican food is one of my favorites. We had tried them years ago, eating in, we didn't care for it then. This was a chance for them to redeem themselves. So, it maybe years again before we give it a go. read more

Was hesitant due to location and being "a hole in the wall". We were pleasantly surprised! Food was fresh, fast and fantastic and priced low. I do have a gluten allergy and she understood but spoke little English. I did not get sick however, so all good. read more

Driving past this hole in the wall would be easy. The sign had seen better days but I was hungry and I hadn't taken my lunch. I parked my truck and crossed the road. A hand written sign said open. Another faded sign read, Please wear a mask. I wasn't expecting much. I ordered a wet burrito and a strawberry Jarritos. The waitress brought out the chips and salsa. The chips were nothing to write home about but the salsa was. I finished every last chip, then I waited and waited and waited. Finally the waitress presented me with the burrito on a white plate. The burrito was dressed with lettuce and guacamole and a drizzle of sour cream surrounded by tomatillo sauce. My god it was good. The carnitas were flavorful and had crispy bites. If I hadn't eaten all the chips, I could have finished the burrito!!!! I kicked myself... Redwood Valley is just outside of Ukiah off of Highway 20. The outside furniture is scrounged up tables and chairs motif; with a border railing found at Mr. Douglas's house on Green Acres. The best burrito anywhere near here. read more

I usually like the food they make. But not this time. I ordered a Chile Verde Burrito and the pork meat they used was old and hard. I don't own a restaurant but I know that Chile Verde is made with slow cooked pork that is very soft and tender and simmered in the sauce. I was scared to eat this burrito.!! read more

Found this place using Yelp. Looking for quick place to have lunch during a long road trip. The place is small, nothing fancy. The waitress was very friendly. I ordered a hard taco with chicken. It was $2.99 and probably the best hard shell taco I've had and had lots in Texas! If you're driving on 101 in Red Valley stin. The waitresses are amiable and attentive, not to mention cute :-) They make their own chips and salsa daily... .....I appreciate Mexican restaurants that take the time to do this - to me this is a sign of true hospitality. This spot is opened during Covid-19 and offer only take out. The whole restaurant is very authentic and has delicious food. They are following all cdc guidelines and require masks, provide hand sanitizer and a washroom. I recommend trying the menudo ! 10/10 read more

If you are looking for a good and simple Mexican Food establishment this is the place. Clean, not fancy. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is tasty. Today I had the menudo special. It comes with home made tortillas. Add a cup of joe and you have "Breakfast of Champions" kind of start to your day. Tab = $16.50, a good value for me. As many locals know, there isn't much in the way of food once you get out to RV, but you would not be disappointed if you came here. Their food is delicious, they have friendly service, and a surprisingly big establishment! Looking from the outside it doesn't seem to be a big place but there's plenty of room inside. In the process of moving to Redwood Valley. My wife and I have noticed this place every time we've been to the market across the street and it was always busy. Dropped in for an early dinner. We got seated right away and the food came quickly. Chips and salsa were below par, the salsa seeming to be canned. I ordered the Torta al Pastor, which came with fries, and my wife got the chile relleno that came with rice, beans, and tortillas. My torta was good. The bread was fresh, the pork was tasty, and there were lots of toppings. My wife's chile relleno was 'adequate' she said. A little greasy. The rice was good and she normally doesn't eat the beans. The wait can be long during lunch and I have been here a couple times when others were served before me who arrived and ordered after us. The service is very nice and they all work hard. I have ordered many different items here and while they all have been really good my favorite would be their hard tacos. ORDER THE HARD TACOS, here's is why: take a small flour tortilla fill it with delicious marinated meat, sew it together with a noodle, deep fry it and now stuff it with fresh lettuce, cheese and whatever else you want in it.. So crispy, so delicious. I just wish they weren't so far away.. Oh well, it's worth the drive! read more
