Down in the Valley for the day and wanted to find a great place, close by, for lunch. I hadn't been to a Mexican buffet in I-can't-remember-when, so Los Comales got my curiosity. When you step out of your vehicle, in the parking lot, you're hit with a tidal wave of the smell of fresh corn tortillas! I knew I came to the right place. The inside has your typical South-of-the-Border flair; Saltillo tile, ceramic wall hangings, bright, colorful, and clean. The service is super friendly. I was seated right away and brought my iced tea quickly. I helped myself to the buffet. Some good choices; fideo con pollo, costillas de res, carné guisada, rice, beans and a few other things I didn't recognize (one was a spectacularly spicy meat and gravy dish I quite liked). They also had charro beans, caldos, an assortment of salsas. I was hoping for some kind of a "taco bar," because I was craving tacos. .... should've just ordered from their extensive menu. Overall, the food was good - nothing spectacular, but it was all well seasoned and hot. I was brought some fresh, house-made corn and flour tortillas so I was able to get my taco fix taken care of. All-in-all, not a bad lunch. I was back on the road in no time. I'd like to come back sometime and order off that menu. read more

I remember when this place first opened. The food was always good and the prices were very competitive. I've been back several times now job the past year or two, in fact I go every chance I get. The food is still delicious; I love the Chiles rellenos and the buffet is awesome! They have chicken soup, beef soup, carne guisada, pork, chicken, beef, enchiladas, chips & salsa, rice, desserts, fruit and lots more that I don't remember!! Also, the tortillas are cooked RIGHT, not crudas (undercooked) like in so many other places. The ambience is warm and inviting and the owners are humble and kind people. I highly recommend you try their food---the buffet is a steal at about $8.00 per person. I believe they need to charge at least $10. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the valley. And the best part was the homemade lemonade!! Next time I'll add some pictures! read more

Today was the first time I bought food here I gave it 5 stars. First the service was great I called ahead to order and they where helpful they even brought the order outside to my car. The food was great I bought a botana for 2 and it was like for 4 people it was big and the taste was great so I highly recommend this place. read more

Four of us ate a late lunch at this restaurant today. We order a mix of entrees from fajitas, tacos and quesadillas. In addition, we shared an order of guacamole which was served as a mixture of its parts as opposed to being mixed together. We found it an interesting way to serve this dish and decided serving it this way offered people an opportunity to mix it as they chose. The special for the day and the rest of the week was t-bone steak along with a baked potato and what look liked a stuffed pepper. It looked really good, so good, that two of which we had ordered that item. Their menu offered a lot of variety and we can't wait to return to order different entrees. read more

Outstanding food -- fresh and made with love. Generous portions and vibrant flavours, with tender steak, moist chicken and delicious homemade licuados. We had the busted Mexicans, which was tender, juicy, cooked perfectly, and studded with fresh flash-fried jalapeños -- DELICIOSO!! Tostadas de pollo are huge, topped with fresh lettuce and tender, perfectly seasoned chunks of chicken breast. The salsas are all freshly made in house every day as are the tender corn tortillas. Come here almost once a week to get the Tacos Reynosa. Good amount of food for the price. And very tasty. Service is hit or miss but more hit than miss. Only problem they have is they need to work on their salsas!!! Otherwise great decor and seating and food. read more

I brought my daughter and grandson here for a late lunch and the entire place had only one waitress. The food was disgusting, cold and quite scarce. my shrimp soup had only 6 shrimp (I counted). my daughter had camarones a la diabla and she said it tasted like straight out of a can. My grandson had the enchilada plate and he said it tasted like a frozen dinner. The corn tortillas I ordered for my soup came right as we were leaving. We had a 45 minute wait for our food and we thought the food would be worth our time, but that wasn't the case. We will NOT be coming back here again! read more

I brought my kids since they were craving a botana so we stopped by...had to have been the worst botana I've had...knew i should have gone to Zamoras. I understand it was 8:30 so they were near closing time but I am still paying full price for my food so I should still get my order portioned correctly. I even asked my waitress where is the avocado and she said oh I'm sorry it finished . I'm OK! (make a bit) When I approached the cashier who I am sure is the owner while paying all he had to say was "ill let the cook know", charged me and he walked back into the office very rudely. This place is really good and inexpensive for a buffet I suggest you try it. It's $10 for the buffet drink is separate. They always have a great variety of items and fresh it's fresh too. Make sure you go during lunch 12-1:30 so you get the really fresh stuff. They do get busy but it's a big place so you probably won't have to wait. Friendly staff is also a plus! read more

Service was great, food was great and price was practically a steal. Only thing I didn't like was that my drink had a fly in it, don't know how it got in but it was floating in it. Nobody acknowledged it in fact the cashier just apoligized and urged us to go back and visit them. I guess it's normal for it since we really don't know what happens in restaurants but I think he should have maybe given us a credit for the drink or something . They should have made it seem like they were more concerned rather than just say oh sorry and no big deal read more

One of my favorite places for breakfast. Plates are huge and tacos are good size. Polite waitresses and waiters. Had my food brought to me late once and I was upset, but manager was good about gave my meal on the house. Will continue to go. read more

This place has to be by far the worse place to eat at in the rgv. Worse service ever. I would put half a star if I could. Ive eaten there before for their breakfast buffet and it's been enjoyable but today I took my family for dinner there for the first time. Not to rant right now because I plan to for the next 4 weeks everyday, but the worse thing they did was serve 2 parties that arrived after us. I understood that because my party consisted of 3 adults 2 children and toddler. The other parties were couples only. But that did not justify waiting over an hour for the order. Literally we only had our drinks. I keep asking every 15 minutes for our food the waitress kept saying that the food was on the line. Food was never ready. My regret was leaving with out attempting to take the food to go and argue the charge. read more
