I ordered 2 gorditas, lengua and arrachera. The Gordita was way too think and undercooked. The meat was dry and hard/chewy.

Food was not good. Meat was tough and dry. Gordita was thick and undercooked. I also got 1 taco and meat was also hard to chew and dry

At least 12 meats to choose from. Some I was unfamiliar with and had to Google. Cicena and Lomo were two I was unfamiliar with. I saw him pulling the carnitas out, and my decision was made. They had salsa verse and salsa rojo available on the tables, and the salsa verde was perfect on the carnitas. Neither of us had eaten since breakfast (4 pm and starving) and neither of us was able to start our second taco. They were very generous with the meat. Tortillas were fresh. Salsa was flavorful but not over the top spicy. I grabbed an extra container to bring home for the second taco. Excellent choice if you're in the neighborhood. It's in the back of the store, so don't get confused and go to the taco place in the adjoining parking lot. Don't miss!

I had high hopes for this place after finding it in a Google search, especially after learning it was inside a Mexican grocery store (they always seem to have the best!). Los Laureles did not disappoint. I came here with a co-worker during a work trip, and hadn't realized they closed the kitchen earlier than the store. We showed up about 10 minutes before they were closing but were still willing to take our order and make us some tacos. And gosh am I so thankful they did because the tacos were amazing. We took our tacos to go and went back to our hotel, but they do have some seating inside where you can eat. I ordered three tacos - two pastor and one asada. Once we started eating our tacos, we pretty much stopped talking because we were scarfing down absolutely delicious tacos. Near perfection. The flavoring was wonderful, we got three different salsas to try with the tacos, and these tortillas were jam packed with meat. No cheap filler here. If I lived here, I'd be here all the time. We went to a "fancier" Mexican restaurant in town for lunch another day, and these tacos were far superior.

Yes, please! Despite normally eating Mexican food in Texas and thinking geographically I am closer to Canada, this was the best Mexican restaurant! This taco platter was $11.99...Barbacoa Taco, Asada Taco, and Pollo Taco. Super fresh and was glad I weaved to the back of this Mexican grocery store for a spectacular taco plate.

TLDR; authentic delicious tacos and horchata hidden in an unassuming Mexican grocery store Definitely recommend the tacos! Each flavor we got was juicy came with a good lime wedge. TIP: IF YOU CHECK IN, you could get free rice and or onions as you can see in my photos! Plus the HORCHATA was sooo addicting; wish they had more but they only had one more left before they had to make a new batch. The burrito was alright since I got chicken but next time I want to get the fish or shrimp. Definitely the ambiance isn't the main feature, the food is. But it was comfortable and we have to go up and order/pick up food from the cashier. But she was super nice!

    Steak and Barbacoa Taco.

Amazing. I had the steak( real strips of beef and barbacoa tacos with cheese, cilantro and onion. I wish their red hot sauce was a bit more spicy.

This was my second time eating food from Taqueria Los Laureles. The first time was four or five years ago when I ate at the store. My earlier review commented that it wasn't as clean as I would have expected. After reading the recent reviews, and the fact that you can order delivery I decided to give it a try. As those who read my reviews know, I comment about how food allergies are handled. When ordering from GrubHub there is a section for you to put special comments. Before you type, the box has instructions showing what to write there and they specifically mention food allergies. I have a serious milk allergy. I always write, "No cheese, butter, sour cream MILK ALLERGY" in that box when I order. I was eager to try it based on others' reviews. But, like many other restaurants, they either don't read notes or don't understand how serious a food allergy can be. Of course, there was a lot of cheese in the Burrito. (I ordered a Carnitas Burrito Meal.) I cut into the burrito before eating any and saw gobs of cheese. I wish I could eat it but I ended up throwing it away. I used to complain to GrubHub when something like this happens. Their usual response is to put a $5 credit on your account, no matter that your lunch was $20 with their delivery fees. It doesn't seem to make any difference, and the blame is really on the taqueria so this time I did not notify GrubHub decided it really wasn't their fault, they just facilitate the transaction, They provide the order as you type it. No disrespect to others who rated their food with 4 and 5 stars. I'm sure it is true. This, however, is a special case. And, no, I did not take pictures of it after I cut into it. I was so unhappy I simply threw it out.

Hands down the best steak taco place I have ever had! It's inside a small grocery store. I went on a Tuesday afternoon, and they had a Taco Tuesday deal. It said $6.99 for 3 steak tacos on the screen, but I think prices have increased. They should probably update the pricing. I ordered 2 of the 3 steak Taco Tuesday specials, and it came out to be $14.98, so $7.49 per order. There's a 10% sales tax of $1.50, and tot's came out to be $16.48, which isn't bad for what you get. The cook makes the meat on the spot and loads the tack with chunks of steak. Seriously the fattiest and juiciest steak chunks I've see on a taco. It is so flavorful, and he makes it super quick! I can't wait to return for those tacos and try everything else on their menu!

The interior is fairly spacious and nicely decorated with plenty of seating. The signage is also attractive looking as well. Menu items are priced fairly reasonably, particularly on Tuesday where there are $2 tacos available. I do also like how you have the choice to put cilantro or tomatoes/lettuce, and corn or flour tortillas. On the negative end, the service is a bit slow here -- even when they aren't very busy. This is much slower than expected for a similar restaurant, as I waited probably close to 10 minutes for my simple order of tacos, despite only 1 order being ahead of me. The food itself was also a bit bland for me - even after adding salsa in. The chicken, carnitas, and ground beef were a bit indistinct in texture and flavors for me - with the pastor being a slight improvement, but nothing like the flavorful preparations available at other local taco spots. Overall, an alright option if you need tacos near the downtown Arlington Heights area, but for me there are tastier options nearby for a similar price.

We ordered breakfast last week- a steak & egg burrito and tamale plate. Burrito was delicious and their salsas are fantastic! Had to go back for tacos tonight w/ cilantro and onion. On top of that, the meat portion was extremely small--definitely not what you'd expect for the price. The tamale was another letdown. It was overpriced, tiny, super dry, and wrapped in plastic, which is honestly concerning. The rice and beans tasted like they had been cooked weeks ago and reheated multiple times. There was a noticeable styrofoam/plastic smell, and the flavor came off artificial--almost chemical-like. It barely resembled real food... more like PlayDoh. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of zero is because the salsa (verde and roja) was actually good. I was hope at least the customer service would make up for the food, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The cashier seemed bothered that I was even there--no warmt, no welcome, just a rushed and uncomfortable interaction. Overall, not a place I'd return

So, I stopped in during the week, just after lunch time and found this little hole-in-the wall of a restaurant conveniently nestled in a shopping center next to the local Walmart. Even though I walked in and the restaurant was completely empty, the pure vibrancy of the decor and the cheerfulness of the staff encouraged me to stay. Not to mention that the aroma making its way out from the kitchen was absolutely mouth-watering. I took a seat at the bar while I perused the menu and was delighted in the simplicity of it. You know the food is about to be fire when the menu is simple and a restaurant focuses on what it does well. In addition to the excellent service, the food was absolutely phenomenal. I started off with some chips and salsa.... which was delightfully flavorful and perfectly crisp. Then, I had a bowl of the tortilla soup. Each spoonful was like deja vu. Each bite made me feel like I was in my grandmother's kitchen as a little girl all over again. The broth was perfectly seasoned and each bite came with a chunk of chicken and an assortment of veggies... truly perfecto! Once I was done with the appetizers, I made my decision to try two tacos from the menu. The first was a salmon taco--and it didn't TASTE FISHY. It was grilled to perfection and then paired with an unexpected yet delicious topping of crispy potato strings and chipotle aioli. I ate every bite of this. It was the perfect combination of crunch and flavor, I just couldn't get enough. Then I also ordered the carne asada a cabron taco. Simple, yet dynamically flavorful. I was so full at this point but took this one home to eat at a later time. Still as amazing as the day I ordered it i'm sure. While I neglected to have any desserts or margaritas here, I was assured that they are just as remarkable as anything else. I had a wonderful meal, excellent service and I greatly look forward to going back if i'm ever in the area again for work. 10/10 Highly recommend!!
