Tacos (left to right) chorizo, pastor, shrimp
Jessica G.

This was my first visit. There were plenty of booths around the outer perimeter (the center is where the food prep happens). You can tell that this place used to be something else back in the day but I'm not sure what. We were greeted once we selected a seat and given menus, I will say the service was slower but I think our server may have been also helping to prepare orders. I saw a few people do takeout and only a handful of other tables were there while we were. Prices seemed competitive with any of the other local taco joints. We ordered guac to start without onions per one of our guests requests. The guac was fresh and delicious - there was a lot of cilantro in it which I loved. We had 4 different salsa bottles placed on the table with no explanation so we had to figure it out for ourselves - luckily nothing was unbearably spicy. When our tacos arrived they were hot! I like that they are served right as they're done and the kitchen is very close so there isn't a far trip to the table. My favorite was the chorizo - it was done to a crisp and the toppings of onion and cilantro paired nicely. The shrimp taco had lettuce on it, to my surprise as well as some other veggies. It was my second fav and least fav was the pastor - the pieces were a little bigger than my liking but the flavor was good. This place is for sure off the beaten path but I'm sure locals love it. If I were to go back, I'd likely try the flautas or another item besides tacos.

Owner has no customer service skills. In need of empathy. The food was as bad as the service.

They are incredibly rude. Not a place to eat, they suck, and the owner really needs to learn costumer service.

This place is a gem! Tacos are meaty and solid very good! You need to experience the fresh made chips and salsa you will not regret.

The waitress was friendly and busy. The seating was a little tight depending on where you sit. Our table was almost blended into the one next to us. The food was good. The menu is partially in Mexican, so be prepared to either use a translation app or guess what you're getting based on photos. We ordered or thought we ordered the #9 lunch but got something a bit different but still very tasty. The plate was full of all the standard stuff, beans, rice, salad, main dish. The chicken under the cheese was delicious and moist. The beans and rice were flavorful without being dry. The salsa was unique. It was something of an acquired taste. The margarita flight was delicious! The prickly pear and traditional were our favorites. The blue one was a close second or third. The mango with the spicy rum was our least.

I don't know what they put in their salsa but I can't stop thinking about it. The food was delicious! I got alambre with no cheese (later on was told by staff that alambre is fajitas with cheese so I basically got fajitas), my friends got a shrimp plate, burrito plate, tacos and three meats plate. The service was ok when we went. It was busy so we had a hard time finding our server to get more salsa or drinks and my vegan friend had a hard time getting her guacamole and chips that they forgot about. It also wasn't vegan friendly and that was the only option my friend had. Other than the wait and it being busy, I appreciated that our waiter brought out a sombrero and we sang happy birthday to our friend. I would go back here again because the food was delicious, but I'm mindful that I may have to wait on service when they're busy.

Taco Tuesday at Poncho's Tacos was so good! I'd never been before as it's a bit far from my house,…read morebut it was totally worth the drive. It's cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. The menu consists of your typical items like tacos, burritos, Panchos (nachos), tortas, and more. They also have a lunch special and a daily deal (3 tacos, rice, and beans for $12.50 but no mix and match proteins). Since it was taco tuesday, tacos were $2.50. Nate got three tacos (al pastor, asada, and tinga) and I got a wet burrito with asada. We also ordered a horchata to share and chips and salsa. They have some dine in space but were doing a lot of takeout orders while we were there. Our chips and salsa came out first and the rest of our food shortly after that. The tacos came without toppings since you can load them up with their salsa/toppings bar. The tacos were super stuffed with meat! The burrito was massive - we shared it and still had leftovers for the next day. I tried each of the tacos and they were all delicious. The meats were not dry and again the portions were generous. I really liked the burrito as it was full of meat, cheese, beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce... it had it all. I wish the fillings were mixed up a bit more but it was so tasty. Service was great - we were asked how our meal was and they cleared our table when we were done. I'm really glad we finally made it to Poncho's Tacos and will definitely keep them on my Taco Tuesday list for the future!

His former favorite taco place, El Cunado, are skimpy on filling and he didn't care for their pastor (his fav). At Panchos he is in HEAVEN! He LOVES the Al pastor tacos here and on taco Tuesday they are $2.50 each. We both also really like the Asada. I also got a small rice, but prob wouldn't order again. It was $2.50 for maybe 3/4 of a cup. The online pics show a bigger box, but that wasn't the serving I received. It is cash only so be prepared. If in a pinch, there is an atm onsite!

(5 stars? That's adorable. I'd give 47.)…read more I came to Pure Mex expecting tacos. Instead, I had a spiritual awakening. Our server, Ruth, did not simply "wait tables." Ruth orchestrated an experience. I am now convinced she exists outside the normal laws of physics. I'm fairly certain she can hear when a tortilla is overcooked from three zip codes away. Before I even realized I wanted another drink, Ruth had already appeared beside the table like some kind of benevolent taco guardian. I blinked once and the salsa was refilled. I blinked twice and somehow my life had direction again. The food? Incredible. But honestly, I would've eaten drywall if Ruth recommended it. That's the level of trust she inspired. Scientists should study her efficiency. NASA should recruit her. The Olympics need a "Hospitality Decathlon" because she'd retire undefeated. If she ever decides to run for president, I don't care what her platform is. She has my vote. At one point I said, "This is probably the best taco I've ever had," and Ruth smiled with the calm confidence of someone who already knew that would happen six months ago. I genuinely suspect Ruth is running at least four restaurants simultaneously using advanced cloning technology. There is no other explanation. By the end of the meal I wanted to stand up and applaud. Not because dinner was over--but because I had just witnessed greatness. The tacos were phenomenal. The margaritas were fantastic. But Ruth... Ruth is the reason legends are written. Future civilizations will uncover this Yelp review and assume she was a mythical figure, like Hercules, except armed with chips and salsa instead of a club. If you visit Pure Mex and Ruth is your server, cancel the rest of your plans. You're about to experience customer service so elite it should probably require a waiver. 10/10. Would gladly drive across state lines, through a snowstorm, and possibly a minor volcanic eruption just to have Ruth ask me, "Would you like anything else?"

He literally was in no hurry and our dialogue went far past the normal server/customer relationship. Finally, as the worship service, I mean my meal went on, the neighboring server, Ruth, came up to and just started conversing and making me feel welcome, just like everyone else I've mentioned. I plan to bring my friends and family. I highly recommend Pure Mex, and am confident you will be treated as well as I was.
