Tacos El Cuñado on Bridge Street is honestly SO delicious! I've been here a few times to get some take out but recently stopped over and sat on their outdoor patio. I haven't seen it since it's been put in and was pleasantly surprised and impressed! Love the red umbrellas! Ordered a couple shrimp tacos with cilantro and onion and it was amazing! Their tacos are so simple but incredibly delicious! I appreciate that the prices for food are reasonable. The horchata is very satisfying too! I love this Tacos El Cuñado location! They have great customer service and they are quick to make your order! The location is small and parking can be a challenge but the to go option is convenient. They also have some tables outside if you want to enjoy your food there. The food is delicious and always add a new item to our order to ensure we try everything! They have great salsas too! Our favorites so far are their torta de asada and tacos de asada. They also give you some grilled onions, limes and a jalapeño on the side! When I was a wee boy, I tasted the best taco in the world in a small village in Yucatán, Mexico. For years after, I have embarked on a journey across Grand Rapids in search of this taco. Countless dollars have been spent, shirts have been spilled on, and symptoms of spicy food have ensued, if you know what I mean. And yet, despite all of this, my taco perfecto had eluded me. I had all but given up until I moved to the West Side of GR and stumbled upon what could quite possibly be considered the Holy Grail of Grand Rapids Mexican food: a small, unassuming red shack on the corner of Bridge St. I'll just get down to the brass tacks. Any taco buff knows that a taco joint can be judged on one thing and one thing only: their Al Pastor. And by god, Cuñado delivers. On top of that, the Chorizo is cherishable. The steak is stellar. The chicken is, well, chicken, but it's damn good. And the salsa is just shy of perfect: it's fragrant, fresh and feisty, and pairs perfectly with any and every menu item (except the horchata, for obvious reasons). The sautéed onions provide sweet, crunchy and umami layers, and for the bold, a sauteéd Jalapeño to top it all off. All of this is housed between a generously griddled double tortilla, which bears the burden of it's toppings like an absolute champ. The value of this place is truly off the charts. I went (begrudgingly) to Donkey Taqueria the other day and paid $12 for two flimsy fake tacos. TWELVE DOLLARS for two raw tortillas with a smidge of crock pot meat in between. Meanwhile, I pay $8 for three hefty, hearty boys made with cariño down on Bridge Street, and they knock my socks off every time. The folks running this place are absolute gems as well. When you walk in, it kind of feels like you're at your abuela's house and she's pulling out all the stocks to absolutely stuff you to the brim. Although they probably see a thousand people a day, the Cuñado Bridge crew never hesitates to make my day that much better. In my opinion, Tacos El Cuñado Bridge St. humbly boasts the best tacos in town. And if you don't believe me, it'll only cost you $8 (on Tuesdays) to see for yourself. read more

Love Tacos El Cunado. Great prices and nothing fancy which is exactly what you want from an authentic taco stand. I'd say your best bet is to call/order ahead (they are on uber eats) and go pick it up. They are quick to make the food usually. Between 5-15 minutes and the food is fresh. They have a couple spaces you can park in or along the side streets. Their 12 inch quesadilla is huge!! Literally has so many fillings and it's kind of hard to pick up and eat but genuinely it's SO good. They also have some of my favorite rice and beans around town. This is my little rant. Overall, not a bad taco place, but I ordered Quesabirria tacos, and this experience just... wow. I've had these tacos at another location, and the consomé comes with them. Here? Gotta pay extra. I also asked for no cheese, but all three tacos came with it, and the limes? Dry to the point that not a single drop came out. The Bridge Street Tacos El Cuñado is the best taco location on the west side of this state. Calling ahead and placing a to-go order is super easy & they're very quick with their orders, I waited about 10 minutes for 8 items. I got the small chicken quesadilla and a chicken American-style taco and both were amazing! You get your bang for your buck here with the amount of food in each item. Delicious. We have been here twice now and havr only good things to say about this location! It is a small pick up location that you call your order into. There are tables for outdoor seating but that is not helpful in the winter :) Carne asada tacos are our favorite and we love the traditional onions and cilantro that come with it. It's corn tortillas, for the gluten free conscious who want to know these things! Tacos also come with limes, roasted peppers and onions. Your order also come with red and green salsa of which the green is actually the spicier one! We have gotten chips and guacamole here (regular side pictured, large order is double it) and it is delicious. The guacamole has tomatoes in it and maybe a little sour cream? And they leave the avocado pits in to help avoid browning! Prices are extremely reasonable and you get plenty of food. We will keep coming back! read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but they have the best authentic steak/asada tacos in town. One of a few locations in GR. I ordered their lunch special of 2 steak tacos with cilantro and onions and a side of rice and beans for carryout for around $7. The tacos take me back to when I lived on the west side of Chicago and would order tacos probably twice a week at this whole in the wall establishment. Those are the best places for authentic Mexican tacos/burritos. The indoor counter is large enough for only 1 party placing an order. You then get your receipt with a number. While you wait outside, your number will be called from the window for your order to be picked up. Staff was friendly and let me know my order would take 8-10 min. I didn't have to wait longer than that to satisfy my craving for delicious authentic tacos. read more

The line at about 6:15ish was LONG (always a good sign that the place is good). Social distancing precautions were followed by & reinforced by the staff. Wait time for small orders was quick. I ordered a beef tongue, pork, and chicken taco. Ranking by fav: pork (SO MUCH FLAVOR and moist, lots of meat), chicken (good flavor, lots of meat, a little dry), beef tongue (good flavor, good amount) [note: I enjoyed each one). They give you a side of grilled/sautéed onions, two sauces, lime, & half of a giant jalapeño. I combined the sauces for major heat. We had a friend mention this place recently. Stopped by on a hot and humid August evening. We were surprised that this place was small. Basically a walk up area to order inside and that is it. Benches on the side. The joint was busy! Continuous stream of customers while we were there around 6pm on a Monday evening. Lots of young people. Glad to see the place busy and it told me the food might be ok. ;) We ordered a steak burrito, pork torta, chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. The meat was very good on each item. The seasoning was perfect and there was decent amounts of meat in each item. I didn't give a 5* because the lettuce, tomato, etc could have been better. But overall very good. The prices are great. A+ for being very affordable. The young man taking our order could have been a bit more polite, but these days I guess you're happy to get help at all. I would recommend to a friend to try this place. Tasty fare. I look forward to another visit to try some other items. read more

Tacos! The best part about Tacos el Cunado Bridge Street is that it's right around the corner from Lincoln Park, so you can get your tacos and have a picnic nearby. My boyfriend and I did just that over the summer during COVID - the walk up window and takeout model works well for them, I think. We each got two tacos and a bottled soda. The tacos didn't take long to come out and then we were on our way! I usually get asada tacos anywhere I go, and these were really good: flavorful and juicy with lots of onion and cilantro. Love the staff (they're so nice ) and the food here. I always get a horchata for my Mami and I whenever we pass by. And the prices are actually really reasonable for what you're getting, I always get three tamales and salsa verde and it usually fills me up for about $10 I believe. (That's not including what I buy for family ) It does include a Jarrito--which they do have as well. Also have had their Flan and can recommend that 100%, it started a war between my coworker and I when he accidentally ate it. It was worth the fight. I got the carne asada, which wasn't super marinated, but I still liked it. However, it's all about the quesadillas! Get the grande, you're going to need it. Never knew this place existed, and wow am I happy I tried it! I got two American style tacos, both without onions and cilantro. One steak and one pork. Both the steak and pork were extremely juicy and flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The tortilla wrap was very authentic, and the salsa was a nice addition. Not too spicy but not bland either.
