Tacos!

Very friendly service to match the phenomenal food! Highly recommend lunch or dinner for authentic Mexican food !

Taco Trio Plate: Asada, Chicken, Pastor

AMAZING food!!! Friendly service and clean restaurant. Seating is socially distanced and most customers do takeout. Will have to return to try more things on the menu! My first time having birria tacos - so good! My only "complaint" has nothing to do with the restaurant, just that the location is a little tight and crowded. Parking is available behind the restaurant!

Incredible tacos and fantastic prices! We visited El Globo based on a recommendation from a friend and it was fantastic! Additionally, they have tacos for $1 on Wednesdays - who can top that?! I had the Al Pastor, Chicharron, Chorizo, and Barbacoa. My favorite by far was the chicharron!

Authentic Mexican!!! We found this gem by accident. The horchata is yummy and the birria tacos were amazing! I think they would get so much more business if they had a way to advertise. We will definitely be back!

El Globo is located on Division Ave - we were able to park on the backside in the lot (parking meters). From there, you will find an arrow on the back of the building that guides you into the restaurant - we walked past the kitchen, the cash register and to a table. We were given menus right off-the-bat but upon ordering beverages, we waited about 5 minutes before another employee came over and took our beverage order again stating that the other employee was too busy. It was a bit awkward but after that, the service was just fine. Most of the people in my group ordered tacos - there is a platter that you can get 3 tacos (4 options to choose from) and it comes with rice and beans as well as lime wedges, grilled onions, jalapeño and sliced radish. I really enjoyed the chorizo and pastor tacos. I also got a chicken taco - but it was dry and stringy; that is the only one I'd recommend skipping. The chips and salsa in the beginning were tasty and the salsa had a nice tomato flavor. Our checkout experience took awhile as we didn't realize we needed to walk to the register and pay without getting bills. The value was good - the taco platter was $8.50 so it's much better priced than your upscale taco joints (Donkey, Luna, etc). Beware - the neighborhood is a bit sketchy - we had a woman that was clearly under the influence of something almost walk/fall into our moving car - so keep your eyes open and be safe but definitely worth the risk for good eats!

This is our favorite place in town for authentic Mexican food! We've tried many things and all are delicious. My husband usually gets the quesabirria tacos and steak tacos, both excellent. Pictured here are steak and al pastor Gorditas. They do a great job accommodating my specific requests (no tomato, lettuce, or sour cream, add beans and cheese). I love their green salsa and I like to dip my Gorditas in the consume for quesabirria.

Great service. Food came out promptly. Extremely flavorful. Chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. 10/10

I found this place on Instagram after searching for birria that would be comparable to the birria you'd find back home in Chicago. El Globo definitely lived up to my expectations. I ordered the quesabirria combo and an horchata, and this was enough to span 2 meals for me. Everything was delicious and spiced just right. The horchata was perfect and not too sweet. The presentation was great and the staff was so friendly and attentive! I will definitely be back for more!

$1.50 tacos on Wednesdays ($1 extra for lengua and tripe)

I've heard about this legendary place with cheap tacos on Wednesdays so we finally decided to check out El Globo for lunch. Tacos are now $1.50 each for traditional, Mexican-style tacos with cilantro and onion ($2.50 for lengua and tripe), and $2 each for "supreme" tacos with sour cream, lettuce, and tomato. My boyfriend and I each ordered three traditional tacos--I got al pastor, asada, and pollo, and he chose lengua, carnitas, and chorizo. They give you a small basket of free chips, salsa, and hot sauce to start. The salsa was so delicious, with really rich tomato flavor and lots of cilantro. The hot sauces were just okay for me. I preferred the orange one over the verde sauce, which was a little bitter. Neither were really spicy. Our food came out quickly and everything was hot and fresh. The corn tortillas were some of the best I've ever had! Not at all dried out, and light and fluffy. We shared bites of all the tacos and the lengua was definitely my favorite. It's a super rich, fatty cut of meat that was perfectly tender. I usually base my judgment on taco places by their asada taco and El Globo's was just okay. It was a little lacking in flavor and not very tender. However, the price can't be beaten, the service was friendly and helpful, and I would absolutely go back for more tacos or some of their other dishes that I saw coming out of the kitchen. There is a ton of metered lot parking behind the building and some street parking as well. We waited around a bit until we figured out you go up to the register to pay. They also have a surcharge for credit card orders under $5 so keep that in mind. We spent about $13 before tip for two people for lunch--pretty awesome! Definitely give them a try if you love authentic Mexican!

As we were visiting Grand Rapids, we found El Globo on Yelp. It looks like a small restaurant on the outside but it is a very deep restaurant. The food I would rate as 5 star. We ordered the guacamole and it was fresh and punchy. For dinner we had the Molcajete Tapatio. It is a hot stone bowl with chicken, shrimp, beef, and Chorizo. With the meat, there was Mexican Cheese, a large Poblano pepper, cacti leaves, and onions in the hot bowl. The flavors were fabulous. The bowl came with flour tortillas, rice and beans. Oswaldo the chef said that everything is made there. I did not try the desserts since the had sold out of tres leches cake. The ambiance was ok and closer to a place like Chipotle. For ambiance I give it a 4. Overall, I look forward to eating there again.

I was so excited to try the birria here but it was so bad I couldn't even eat the second taco and the salsa is very watered down.

Best tender, juicy lamb in a crispy crunch homemade shell with a mildly heated dipping sauce is hands down the best I've had.

The staff was friendly and our waitress was friendly, talkative and fun. She definitely added to our experience. I hope we get her again the next time we go. The place is clean and large enough for 2-10 people in a group. They have typical booths, tables and is spaced out enough that you don't feel too crowded. The food was delicious! We got something with a bed or Mexican rice covered in chicken and queso. It came with 3 tortilla shells. The flavor was amazing and the portions were more than enough for two of us to share. Our friends got the burritos and they said it was one of the best they had. Now the drinks! Wow! They have a sangria margarita that will go down way too smoothly and warm you up right away. So good! We are definitely going back for those! Can you tell from all the exclamation points how good it was? LOL. We will be back and I hope that your experience is just as good.

The waitress was friendly and busy. The seating was a little tight depending on where you sit. Our table was almost blended into the one next to us. The food was good. The menu is partially in Mexican, so be prepared to either use a translation app or guess what you're getting based on photos. We ordered or thought we ordered the #9 lunch but got something a bit different but still very tasty. The plate was full of all the standard stuff, beans, rice, salad, main dish. The chicken under the cheese was delicious and moist. The beans and rice were flavorful without being dry. The salsa was unique. It was something of an acquired taste. The margarita flight was delicious! The prickly pear and traditional were our favorites. The blue one was a close second or third. The mango with the spicy rum was our least.

I don't know what they put in their salsa but I can't stop thinking about it. The food was delicious! I got alambre with no cheese (later on was told by staff that alambre is fajitas with cheese so I basically got fajitas), my friends got a shrimp plate, burrito plate, tacos and three meats plate. The service was ok when we went. It was busy so we had a hard time finding our server to get more salsa or drinks and my vegan friend had a hard time getting her guacamole and chips that they forgot about. It also wasn't vegan friendly and that was the only option my friend had. Other than the wait and it being busy, I appreciated that our waiter brought out a sombrero and we sang happy birthday to our friend. I would go back here again because the food was delicious, but I'm mindful that I may have to wait on service when they're busy.
