Who knew Little Mexico was alive and well in Wyoming/Byron Center? We used to go to the short-lived Allendale restaurant from Grand Valley (1970's) and enjoyed the Bridge Street restaurant for decades. This new shop has different ownership and an updated menu, but still all the touches of the original. The salsa is outstanding. They have great lunch specials. My husband and I came for a quick lunch and the service was quick and we had zero complaints. For two people including tip, we walked out of there for $30 completely full. That's hard to come by these days for good food! Recommend this place for sure! read more

Great food, slow dine-in service. Waited three minutes for someone to greet us at the hostess stand at 6pm on a Saturday. Host neglected to include cutlery for our two people in our requested party of 4. Waited 15 minutes for the waitress to greet us and take our drink order; at that point we knew what we wanted for food, so put that in too. Waitress visited our table once after our food came out. As I walked into the restaurant, I appreciated the decor as well as the music. It really set me up to enjoy the authentic Mexican food and experience. I ordered the vegetarian plate #4 with an enchilada, taco and tostada as well as rice. The server brought out the chips and salsa just after my arrival and I must admit, the chips were crispy, delicate and lightly salted. The salsa was absolutely amazing! As I enjoyed my tostada, I tasted the near perfect beans on top of the crunchy tostada. The taco was freshly made and tasty. The enchilada was definitely the stand out, with the cook's own version of enchilada sauce. I've enjoyed enchiladas all over the west coast and several venues in between here and California and I love the regional recipes for the sauce. The service was friendly and prompt! Having enjoyed lunch here a few times, we wanted to come for dinner where there is table service. (Lunch is sort of fast food style except its WAY better than fast food. You stand in line and wait for them to cook it and take it to your table) First came our chips and salsa. I noticed on the menu a charge for extra chips and salsa. OK-red flag. Chips were good and warm. Salsa was a bit bland for my taste but still good. I ordered fajitas and my wife had flautas. Fajitas were much better than OK but not quite to an excellent rating. My wife thought the flautas were a bit dry. The salsa didn't last for the initial order of chips meaning I would need to order more for the existing chips and to have some for my fajitas. Here's where I draw my line in the sand. It's like paying for catsup and mustard which I felt was ridiculous. High pricing doesn't bother me-this type of practice does. My problem is with the salsa charge, not the extra chip charge. I was told it's the restaurant's policy. If that's the case, there's a number of excellent Mexican spots to go for dinner. Little Mexican Restaurant in Byron Center. Lots of parking in the plaza. They still have their Covid precautions up. After 3pm, you are supposed to call for a table. Food: BIG PORTIONS! I got the lunch special which comes with 2 items, rice and beans. You can choose between Taco | Enchilada | Burrito | Tostada | Chimichanga | Flauta | Quesadilla and it comes with rice and beans. My mom got the nachos which was huge, too! To-Go service is like Chipotle towards the back. You can choose what toppings to add to your dish. There's also a nice long list of alcoholic beverages. Fast authentic Mexican with friendly customer service. He took 4 of our orders at once and just tossed the different size tortillas over his shoulder onto the grill. The tacos were fantastic and reasonably priced. You can customize every aspect and all their toppings are fresh. My parents both had medium wet burritos and loved them. The only disappointment was the chips and guacamole. They were both bland and flavorless. Stopped in randomly because I thought well I like Tacos! It was Taco Tuesday so that was convenient that tacos individually are $1.75. The shredded chicken was delicious on its own. With the pico de Gallo even better! The steak was nice and tender. All the toppings were fresh and tasty! Even has chicken nuggets for the kids. They use nice paper plates which is fine but the styrofoam cups are a bummer. What is this 1980? Stop using the earth-killing foam cups and go for paper cups instead. Friendly staff but they keep the line moving so be ready to order! Line at lunch time on a friday but it moved quickly. About a dozen tables to eat in if you choose.
