My wife and I also shared an Esquites, a container of corn topped with mayo and Cotija cheese, like Mexican street corn without the cob. I liked all the food, as a burger lover I especially liked the All American Taco. Everything was quite flavorful. This was a quick and easy meal, the food was ready in about 5-6 minutes. It is raining everyday Florida, and today was no exception. The rain was pouring and I was sitting…read morein my car waiting for it to stop, but it just kept coming. Then, there was a tap on my window and I looked over to see a kind man grinning at me. Normally, I do not open house or car doors for just any smiling man. But, this man could not hurt a fly and was nice enough to escort me under his umbrella to the overhang of his taco truck to order my lunch. I told the staff that I want tacos, but I only have $6.50 (cash only), they nodded and a woman proceeded to cook up some food. It became: 2 fajita tacos on corn tortillas $1.75 each 2 chicken tacos on corn tortillas $1.50 each Both served with the usual chopped raw onion and cilantro. These did not come with a side of lime, and the green chili sauce was most interesting... The Tacos el Indio truck has by the far the most unique and homemade tasting tacos and chili sauce that I have had so far. I watched as the woman lightly dipped each of the corn shells into melted lard and placed all ingredients onto a large iron griddle. This gave the shells a delicious char of black and brown spots and toasty/nutty taste. The chicken was all white meat that was shredded like rotisserie chicken style. The cook seared the shredded meat on the griddle and sprinkled lemon pepper on it. It actually still tasted like a taco with the toppings and the chili sauce, but just a little more interesting. The fajita beef was cut into long thin strips (about 4 inches) and seared just like the chicken on the griddle. The meat was tough and somewhat buttery, like cheaper cuts of beef can taste. I will usually use a marinade to prevent this sort of taste. The green chili sauce was runny, but the ingredients were pureed into a smooth liquid that consisted of: green chili, avocado, lime, cilantro, salt, and beer. I actually think that the main ingredient was beer. It was delicious! But, since it was so runny, I had some trouble keeping it on the taco. Now I am at work, hoping that my breath does not wreak of beer from the sauce. After I received my food, to take back to work to eat, the man was nice enough again to escort me back to my car with the umbrella in hand. I told him that I will see him again soon, and I will, but hopefully in nicer weather and with people accompanying me. They have a large list of other items; tortas, sopas, burritos, menudo. There were no prices posted and I would have loved to sneak a photo of the menu. I did not see any bottles sodas for sale, but it does say that they have aguas frescas on the menu, and lists horchata as one of them. It is really hard to get photos of the trucks, because everyone is so paranoid. It is only two buildings North of Taqueria Mi Rancho, but they are still the busiest I have seen. They are in the parking lot of "Vessels Into Honour" ministries. There is a listing for a Tacos el Indio at another address on Yelp, but I cannot locate a business of that name under the address that is on the listing.

But it isn't really a taco wago, the name says it all "Pupuseria el puerto La Union". This place has some yummy pupusa. THey have their menu arranged in "numbers" where you can order a set thing for a set price. For example, I got the set of three chorizo tacos for $5. The options are clearly posted on the side of the truck with some pretty good pictures. WE got what we saw in the pictures. I didn't trust my lame high school/pod cast Spanish trying to order anything fancy, as it might be nice to get one or two pupusa and a taco rather than the set plates they hare set up. We got an order of pupusa and order of the chorizo tacos. I seriously enjoyed the pupusa. I have not had many to compare to but having this as an option in the area is great. WE got three lovely corn/masa cakes stuffed with cheese and a bit of chicken. The corn was light and tasty with a good crust from the flat top on them. The bites with the cheese were supper yummy and making me want for more. They came with a cabbage salad, red salsa, and a pickled jalapeno. You get 3 for $6, which is a deal in my mind. The green salsa that came with the tacos was a bit better than the red salsa and I put some of that on the pupusa and was very happy. Also some of the juice from the picked jalapeno added some nice acid/zing to them to cut the cheese a bit. The chorizo tacos were good, but nothing outrageous. Good tortillas, plenty of cillantro and onion. A bit of spicy green salsa on the side and you are set to go. Although some of the chorizo was a bit over done and you ended up with hard bits it had a good flavor. Some of you might like the hard bits of chorizo but seemed a bit odd to me as the rest was perfectly fine. I'll be back to try more pupusa and to check out their other goodies. The woman who was running it when we were there was friendly and happy to put up with two gringos mangaling Spanish. If you are interested in some yummy new street food treats go give this little yellow truck a try.

The food here is actually cooked, pan fried, fresh as you order. Not sitting in a steamer all day like many of the trucks in the area. I love the name of the stall and the nice woman that runs it. They even have business cards! All of the tacos here are $1.50 each. You have your choice of pastor (pan fried tiny bits of pork), pollo (pan fried minced chicken), asada (pan fried minced beef), carnitas (shredded and slow cooked pork), and chorizo (ground pork sausage). Every business serves it differently. If you are new to authentic tacos, then I recommend this place as your first try. Mostly because the tacos here do not have as much exotic tasting seasonings as other places. By spice, I am referring to cumin, paprika, garlic, and hot pepper flakes cooked with the actual meats. Since everything is cooked fresh to order, I recommend calling ahead to place your order 941-321-5718. The tacos here come with a side of green chili salsa and wedges of lime on the side, and cilantro and chopped onion on top. The green salsa is so far the spiciest I have had, and can be mouth numbing, so try a little at first. I ordered 2 asada on corn tortillas and 2 chorizo on corn tortillas. The asada steak had minimal fat, was finely chopped, and very tender. However, the meat was pan fried with very little seasoning, so it was kind of bland. I added salt, a ton of green salsa, and a whole lime wedge to make it tasty. However, the chorizo was amazing. It was nice and salty with a bit and a hint of tang to it. The chorizo is by far my favorite. They carry many drink and soda options, my favorite being apple soda. The Tortas (sandwich) are $6.00, Sope $3.50, Tostada $5.00, Burrito $5.00, and Quesadilla $4.00. I will definitely be coming back, and bringing mostly people that have never tried taco trucks before because this is a great introduction. If you are driving down State Road 70, it is behind the Dollar General on 15th Street. They are open everyday of the week 11:00AM-9:00PM, and stay open until 11:00PM on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tacos that you only dream of come out of this trailer. Some people make fun of or are scared of food sold from trailers, but I'm telling you this is some of the best street food to be had. The fact that it comes out of a wagon should not scare you off. think on this, you can spend $10 at a "taco" chain down the road, that serves up cardboard shells they like to call tortillas, or you can spend $5 at La Cholita and have amazing tacos that make your tongue sing, your mouth rejoice, and your tummy happy. The spicy pork tacos are the best, just a little onion and cilantro on a couple of warm tortillas, green salsa and lime wedges. Heaven on a plate. The people who work here are friendly and know what they are doing.
