You're going to walk in here and think, "it smells weird, and this place is kind of sketchy." But don't leave! Keep your hope alive! The food was shockingly excellent and margaritas - while not the best I've ever had, decent and even better for the $7 price point. Margarita had just enough alcohol to make you feel real nice. I got the tacos (chicken and Barbacoa on a corn tortilla) and they were great. Tasted super authentic and loaded with cilantro and onions. The guacamole on the side was average but the salsa was good and had nice chunks of onions and peppers in it. My friends loved their enchiladas (enchilada de pollo with salsa verde), and expressed that the rice was nicely salted and beans were Smokey. One said she had one enchilada and was full and still had two more to go! Also heard the place is BUMPING late night on Saturday's so will need to check it out. read more

Great place for nicely prepared Mexican. We ordered plates with enchiladas, burritos and all the trimmings. Everything was very tasty, and we kept eating long after being filled. Fresh ingredients, nice sauces, and a tasty margarita made an early evening dinner perfect. Street parking was pretty easy at the end of the business day right after they opened. Downtown Framingham can be a traffic nightmare, but we zipped right in and right out. And the prices were so reasonable. Almost cheap eats! read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants in Framingham, however, they have weird hours, long before the pandemic. They are open 5:00pm - 10:00pm and are closed on Mondays. Some time this week (I believe it was Tuesday) , I tried to place an order during their small time frame at 8:30pm and they were closed. Today, I placed an order through EatStreet before they opened. You would think that I would receive freshly made food because my order was placed early. The chile rellenos (stuffed peppers with cheese) were smaller than the size of my palm with little to no breading and with no exaggeration, it was DRENCHED in oil that you could taste was burnt. The "stuffed" peppers did not have cheese. I paid $30 for 2 plates (4 peppers total) and they were all bad. I'm so disappointed. I called to have the order fixed or to receive a refund and there was no answer. I give up on this place. read more

Unsanitary: My friend found a small cockroach in her water (not the kind that sings La Cucaracha, unfortunately). Way to quench your thirst... (See the picture.) Although the staff was nice and polite, finding bugs in your food shows the place may not be sanitary. We told the staff, who replied with a simple "sorry" and nothing more. In a move that bodes well for downtown Framingham's emerging dining district, Taqueria Mexico recently relocated from Route 9 to a large and bright space next to the town common and near the commuter rail station. They in fact enlarged the existing space from previous restaurants into the next storefront, built a bar, livened up the color scheme with brightly-painted walls, and added numerous Mexican cultural artifacts as decor. A weekday lunch time found the place nearly empty with only one other table occupied and a trio of landscapers downing beers and eating at the bar. The host and waitress were warm and welcoming and spoke fine English. A basket of tortilla chips accompanied by two salsas was promptly brought to the table. The smooth red salsa was tantalizing and only mildly spicy, with a hint of smoke from what I surmise are fire-roasted chili peppers. The chunky salsa was a bit hotter, with a nice spikey burst of cilantro. Intrigued by the "Agua Frescas" drink offerings, I had a horchata ($1.95), a silky, cream-colored beverage made from rice that was a bit reminiscent of soy milk. I ordered a burrito ($6.50) that was as big as the plate it came on, with pastor, pork in chili sauce, that added a delectable, moist richness to the meat with only moderate spiciness. The other fillings of rice, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes made for a hearty meal in that large tortilla wrap. Quite a deal for lunch for less than $10 total. Mexican pop music played on the restaurant's sound system, and when I noted the enlarged space, divided into two rooms, to the waitress, she mentioned that it is very crowded on the weekends, particularly later at night when they have karaoke on Fridays and a DJ on Saturdays. The menu is large and holds promise for some interesting dining choices on future visits, including chicken mole, always a bellwether for me for a Mexican restaurant, as well as a seafood soup (available on weekends only), tongue tacos, lamb burritos, and a trio of the usual dessert suspects - flan, tres leches, and rice pudding.They also have a wine and beer license with brews tilting mostly south of the border, including Dos Equis, Tecate, and Negra Modelo (my personal favorite with mole dishes). Forget those bland, corporatized Mexican food chains. Come to downtown Framingham for some authentic and tasty Mexican food at reasonable prices. I'll be coming back to Taqueria Mexico for sure. read more

Our first visit to the reconstituted Taqueria Mexico represented a modest improvement over our visit when it was at the Route 9 location. The service was prompt and helpful, and the margaritas, while not using 100% lime juice, as least tasted refreshing and robust. The food was comparable to what we've had at their Waltham restaurant - a sprawling menu of fairly standard Mexican fare. I had the Pollo Mole, and while the mole was flavorful, it was also a bit more watery than it should have been. The chicken, rice and refried beans were all nicely prepared and well-seasoned. My wife had the Chile Rellenos, which were quite tasty. One thing we didn't expect was the presence of a "Mariachi Karaoke" singer, who sang traditional Mexican folk songs over a recorded music track. While it should have contributed an air of authenticity, it was instead intrusive and a bit campy in my opinion. We'll definitely come back for the food and cocktails, but it will be on a night without "entertainment". read more

I first stumbled across their location on a side street in Waltham, MA and was thrilled when they opened another restaurant in Framingham. Their previous location on Route 9 was good, but parking was tight. Although this location is in downtown Framingham, we always find convenient parking. We have dined here quite a few times, often bringing friends, and we all agree it is very good Mexican food, particularly this far from the border! I'm always skeptical of margaritas in Massachusetts but the bartenders here do a fine job. At first I gave it 4 stars because their chorizo isn't what I'm used to in Texas & Mexico, but it's still really good! I have to admit the high ceilings and lighting are off-putting to some, but the people and food here more than make up for it. I highly recommend Taqueria Mexico if you're in the MetroWest area. read more

I started frequenting the Waltham location about 10 years ago, and have continued to make a regular visit there at least once a month. I recently just moved to Framingham, and found this other location from a random Yelp search, not expecting it to be the same place. But it was. YAY! My fiancé and I visited this location which is much bigger and "prettier" than the original in Waltham, but the quality of food remains the same if not better. The guy that I used to see in Waltham now works here and greeted us, recognized me, shook my hand, and I introduced him to my new fiance. (important little detail) I got my usual - a chicken burrito with a side of salsa verde and my fiancé got the same. We started our meal off as always with chips and two different salsas which taste incredible! The chicken is flavored very well, and one of the salsas is nice and hot. The salsa verde is great addition to the burrito. The burritos have definitely gotten bigger in size but still taste just as good as always. We stuffed our faces while smiling from the satisfaction of the hot tasty burrito on a cold day. Our experience became amazing when the guy that greeted us brought over a flan for my fiancé and I and said "congratulations amigos". They clearly go above and beyond to satisfy their customers in terms of food and service. read more

I am SO glad we found this restaurant sooner rather than later! just moved to the area from CT and since we've moved east from CA, up to this point finding a good Mexican restaurant has been frustrating to put it nicely. We just about gave up hope of ever having authentic Mexican food. Taqueria Mexico has turned that around! The flavors - spot on - totally wonderful. The refried beans are velvet. Refried beans are the tell. If a restaurant can't do beans, they should just stop and take down the sign.. Plus, the accompanying rice wasn't dry as it normally tends towards, and it wasn't wet and gummy. It was delicate, moist and each kernel separate. Every dish was perfectly seasoned. The chicken taco - perfect. Corn tortilla freshly fried and crispy. My chimichanga - oh my...too too DELICIOUS! I closed my eyes and kept eating until I was about to burst. Everything was so good, we just wished we had ordered more for the next day. My husband's burrito - delicious. Perfect. Carne Asada - delicious! I can't wait to try carnitas and their mole. There's much to look forward to ordering. There's still a tiny bit of refried beans in the frig and we've been saving them to have with our Saturday over easy's. So so good. We're still unpacking so take out is pretty much keeping us alive and we are SO GLAD to have found Taqueria Mexico!! Not only will we order again, we are looking forward to eating there in person! Great food, friendly staff. Nice decor. But I could not enjoy my meal because they have televisions running in the dining room across from the bar. I get having televisions in the bar, and the bar is set off from the dining room. But for some reason they put four gigantic televisions across from the bar in dining room! Now one's eye has no place to go without having to look at a gigantic, distracting, and annoying television. In our case with ESPN on it. How does ESPN lend anything to a lunch or dinner? Simply Stated: I love this place. I have been going to the Waltham location for 15+ years and was so excited when they opened around the corner from my house in Framingham. I have been there 3 times now with different groups of people and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their experiences. The free chips and salsa are always amazing but the meals and drinks were right up there as well. We have tried options from all over the menu and everything has been fantastic. The place is huge and the service has been great. They are extremely friendly and overall the ambiance is perfect for this restaurant. A friend of mine just did a really cool mural there and they now have music on Thursdays and some weekend nights as well. Sorry but this is not the best Mexican around- other places within walking distance are much better. No AC, lots of flies, slow service and dirty glasses. Dim lighting does not hide uncleanliness. A little disappointed since I really liked their route 9 location. First off the new location is tough, there was some sort of altercation and a lot of police around at the park next to it when we arrived. Hopefully that will change when they have finished "revitalizing" the downtown. The decor is typical Mexican bright colored walls. It took us three requests to get water. They gave us about 10 complimentary chips and salsa, the salsa is still great. We got guacamole which was good but not great....the consistency seemed like they had put it in a food processor? I ordered fajitas and the meat was dry and lacked flavor. It didn't come out sizzling. I had asked for black beans or pinto beans instead of refried beans and they didn't have either ~what self respecting Mexican restaurant doesn't have black beans or pinto beans? read more

Made ZERO attempt to keep our business other than refunding us the difference between what the meal cost and what I was charged.
