Went there by recommendation from vendors in the nearby supermarket. We did a tasting for an upcoming Cinco de Mayo party. Came here for lunch and ordered the steak quesadilla as well as the burrito with goat meat. The wait for the food didn't take long and probably waited about 7-10 minutes. This place rocks! I came in here on a whim, and I'm super glad that I did. The tacos are HUGE and absolutely delicious - easily the best I've had in years. The price is also pretty reasonable for the quantity of food you get. Taqueros tres reyes for me personally have the best Tacos in the dmv. But my favorite thing to get is the Torta with pollo asado (grilled chicken). Their juices are always on point they feel So natural and fresh and have never disappoint. Service is good, you order up front, take a sit and then they'll get you your food. The place is very humble, very cozy and with lots of Mexican colors. I recommend everyone to try them. Their Flan is also one of my favorites. read more

I figure that if that's what they're going to call themselves then that's what I'm going to have. One chicken, one beef and one pork. All were quite tasty with plenty of meat on each one and with a lime for each one, too! You'll be able to see them in the picture I posted. I was also brought the hot sauces. Yep, they were hot. I didn't even try. Cholula is about the most I can handle on a good day. They also have Mexican sodas here. I chose an Orange Fanta, which has tons of chemicals in it but no high fructose corn syrup. FINALLY! A Mexican restaurant that makes me feel like I'm back in my hometown of San Diego. I live and work in Northern Virginia, but a few weeks ago ventured out to MD for business reasons. Not knowing where to have lunch, I went to my trusty friend Yelp for suggestions... And once again, Yelp helped me find a gem. Their menu offers a wide selection of items; I had three tacos on my first visit (beef, pork and chicken) and they did not disappoint. The tortillas were much like the freshly made tortillas I've had in SD (not like anything you can find in a store) and the pork and beef were very tasty! Chicken was only so-so, which was fine because the two tacos I had had a ton of meat and were really are filling. I loved the tacos so much, I brought my husband to Taqueria Tres Reyes later that week. That time around I had the carne asada tacos with a side of rice -- best rice ever! I can't wait to go back and try the posole (seemed to be the popular choice -- in addition to the tacos, that second time around). This place is the real deal. The carne asada quesadilla is monstrous (see pic)---it is literally a foot long. BUT most importantly, it was very tasty. Food: I got chicken, beef and pork tacos. Each came with two tortillas, onions, and cilantro. Each had very distinct flavors and were hot and juicy! The plate came with different vegetable sides and a lime for each taco. We were also given a sauce set and there was regular hot sauce on the table. My friend got the chicken and queso quesadilla (redundant, eh?) I tried a bit and it was all right. I like variety, so I personally prefer getting tacos with different meats. They had a lot of different items on the menu - like soups and desserts. Wish I took a menu to go. Service: Not much to say, you order and pay at the cashier and the food is brought to you. One of the workers didn't understand me when I asked for a fork, but the other workers were able to take care of that. Setting: The restaurant from the outside is brightly painted and the interior is decorated with bright furniture, murals and objects. Riverdale is fortunate to have several authentic Mexican restaurants. Out of all of them, Taqueria Tres Reyes has been my favorite for three years in a row. While all Mexican restaurants preserve the authentic recipes and style, Tres Reyes is the more memorable for the quality of cooking, the prices, and the atmosphere. Tres Reyes is what you may come to expect from a small family-owned Latin restaurant. It's small, cozy, Latin TV is always on, you can play tunes from a Latin jukebox, and the food is what you would normally get from a home cooked meal. What Tres Reyes does right is the way it cooks its meats. The seasoning and time on the grill are done to perfection. The drinks are also very desirable. We can never get enough of their Jamaica and horchata drinks. Make sure to order large so you have some to take home. When you order tacos to eat there, they provide more than enough sauces and vegetables to go with your meal. I am a big fan of their hot red sauce. One of the green sauces can be hot for some even though it may appear to be mild. Be careful. The soups are always a pleasure to eat there as well. I tried a soup called "posole" which at first glance I was sure I wouldn't enjoy. Boy was I wrong. One sip and I had to have more. This is, essentially, the perfect taqueria. (Just wish it was closer to my home in DC.) These are the best tacos I have found anywhere in the DMV, and I have been looking for over a year since I moved here from San Diego. I went with an amiga, and together, we ordered 6 different taco fillings: Barbacoa (goat) Al pastor (pork) Carnitas (pork) Lengua (beef tongue) Buche (pork belly) Carne asada (beef) They were all great, which is a problem, because I won't know which to order next time I come. To be more helpful, I would say that the carne asada was the weakest, and that the best were the barbacoa and buche. Honestly, a person only needs two of these huge tacos for a satisfying meal. I guess that means you need to bring amigos with you. I saw a couple of the quesadillas come out of the kitchen, and they leaped on to my to-try list for next time. They are enormous, like head-sized, filled with meat, and look like they're made with a corn tortilla. Oddly, I couldn't find any prices listed anywhere on the menu. But don't worry, it's muy cheapo. My 3 tacos and medium horchata (very nice) came to $10.60 with tax, which means the tacos were probably about $2.75 each, or less. The decor is a perfect fit. This place will truly disappoint any Mexican or Southern Californian looking for authentic food. The first sign this was not authentic was reading they offered "yucca." In case you didn't know yet, Mexican restaurants do not offer yucca. Yucca is an central/south American thing. Also, the names of foods reveal this is not true Mexican. "Pancita" for "Menudo" or tripe stew?!?!? Strangely, they offer some version of a fried burrito and market it as a "flauta." A fried burrito might be called a chimichanga in Texas and is non existent in Mexico. Come on. In addition, their carne asada tacos are not really made from carne asada (flank or skirt steak). Instead they are made from braised beef. Weird. Braised beef is not carne asada. What bothered me the most is the deceit. They market themselves as something they are not. The bottom line: I disagree with all the rave reviews all these other people give this place. That is, the food is not as good as people claim. It may just be that they've never been exposed to real Mexican. I would not recommend anyone to drive out to that forsaken place just to try that food. If you are in the area, then go ahead you be the judge. I'm sure you'll come back and agree with my review :-) For a more authentic experience, try Taco Bar in Gaithersburg, MD. Charity and I went in and had 4 taco's and a bowl of seafood soup...it's a bowl of soup made for Paul Bunyan and two of his buddies after a full days work!? The Tacos are what dreams are made of and worth the trip alone but the soup!? There was a pile of seafood swimming in salty, peppery tomatoy broth that made you NOT able to put down your spoon! The torta Mexicana is especially good: meat of your choice, avocado, pickled jalapeños, mayonnaise, maybe a smear of beans. Also try the gordita. It takes forever for them to make it, but oh, little hot pocket of fried masa, how I love thee. Ask for the little caddy of salsa (don't ask for the "caddy of salsa", but you know what I mean), you get a red, a green, a creamy green and a pico de gallo, plus they have more free pickled jalapenos at the counter. Went with the yelp advice and stopped by this place after picking up my bro from BWI. Got some tacos and he added the milanesa sandwich. He had just flown in from LA and was starving so he had his milanesa on the car ride home. He said it was amazing, great blend of beef, guacamole, and queso. I tried this place at the recommendation of a friend. It is nearby my company, and I stopped by for some lunch. I ordered the Tacos Dorados (barbacoa = goat!). It came with 4 tacos, lettuce, cheese, beans and rice. It also came with a salsa verde. I did not get the chance to enjoy them piping hot but still felt they had great flavor and a good taco shell. The salsa was spicy, not incredibly hot, not ultra boring, it was in the middle and brought a good heat to the meal. I got the goat because I have not had goat in the U.S. and thought, "Why not?" I thought the goat was good, and will go with barbacoa with the other items I order in the future. Overall it was a good meal, but I thought it was a little pricey at $10. Want to try AUTHENTIC Mexican food? This is about as authentic (and tasty) as it gets here in Maryland. No slapping on melted cheese on the food here - the flavors of the meats and the vegetables and the sauces make that unnecessary. I also LOVE the scallions and radishes they provide as the garnish. When I often come here, I usually get three tacos of different varieties, and fill my self up for less than $10. There are about 10 or so different meat options! The tortas (sandwiches) are also good, and so is the Mole Chicken. I do need to break out of my rut and try some other items - there's a lot to choose from! While the primary language spoken here is Spanish, and I speak Spanish myself, I think non-Spanish speakers are equally welcome.
