We stopped here late one night for dinner on our way back to the hotel, and it was a great find. We ordered chips and salsa, the elote, a couple of drinks, and tried the carnitas, carne asada, and al pastor tacos. Each taco had great flavor, and everything came out fresh. The chips were served with three salsas--a mild, a mango habanero, and a spicy--all of which complemented the meal well. The atmosphere was relaxed, with lots of families dining and the World Cup playing on the TVs. It would be a great spot for a quick meal while passing through, a casual date night, or to grab drinks with friends. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. What a fun restaurant! The servers are bilingual and the menus are available in English and Spanish. The guacamole was very chunky and tasty with their tortilla chips. The pico de gallo campechano appetizer was outstanding. The quesadillas are huge and the tacos are very flavorful. I had the Govenors tacos were overflowing with shrimp. Fair to say nothing so far has come close to Sonic (guilty pleasure but they have the standard of good poppers, sue me).......until whatever happened today that challenges my life's understanding! Anyway, aside from the poppers, we got the surf n turf tacos (me) and stuffed avocado with fish (her). Hoo boy, we've eaten plenty of similar food but this is the best. Happened on here for taco Tuesday night after arriving to town and having come from gorgeous sunset. Sat at the bar. House margaritas were on the taco Tuesday special as were a couple tacos. Bear in mind prices for tacos are reasonable. Ordered the special ones plus a ceviche taco. Wondering how a ceviche could be a taco. The ceviche taco was delicious. The others were too. We had a great meal and the service was great. They sat us down even though we did not have reservations which was a good professional gesture. The atmosphere was great the business was decorated as we were at an authentic restaurant in Mexico. The only negative part was the seats and tables, the seats were really uncomfortable and the tables were a bit small for all the food plates to fit comfortably. You have to park a couple of blocks away but definitely worth it, it will help you digest your food on the way back to your car. The positives on the food were there are vegan options and allergen friendly options. This is also a popular restaurant and in the heart of town. The yellow sauce that comes with the salsa is just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The guac is chunky and fresh. Our waitress was great and kept checking on us. Yea so this is the last time my sister will dupe me into a Mexican joint in Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans are a lot of things, makers of good Mexican food is not one of them. The nachos had absolutely no taste to them, carnitas meat was dry and whoever thought Monterrey Jack cheese instead of oaxaca or queso blanco was a good idea needs to be fired. The pathetic attempt at an Al Pastor taco I had was abhorrent. The meat was dyer than the Sahara and had no type of taste at all. My mom got the governor's tacos and her food was so greasy she just ended up having them take it off the bill. Completely ruined her meal and appetite. After a 3 hour drive from Luquillo, very disappointed in this spot. I know the tapas joint next door is more expensive but it's gotta be better quality than this. First day in Rincón we visited this Taqueria, all we can say is "WOW", "I love this place" and "our server was AMAZING". Massive shout out to Abel. We are all service industry folks and agreed that he is possibly the best server we have ever had. We questioned if he owned the place because his knowledge of every menu item was spot on and extremely descriptive. Plus, wrote us a note about great spots in the area, AND gave us the name of some great songs playing (he was on top of the playlist). We could keep going on about Abel, but the food and drinks also deserve 5 stars. Guacamole, tacos, margaritas, beers, all amazing. DELICIOUS. So so good. Me and my husband are big Mexican food fans. I grew up in California and we have been to Mexico multiple times so our Mexican food standards are high. This place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Our waiter was Celso. He is a gem and gave some great recommendations. Their nachos... TO DIE FOR. The pico- chefs kiss. I got the birria tacos. I can't put into words how good this piece of art was. Cheesy and greasy, in all the right ways. Even their side rice- please just give me a bucket. My husband got a chimichanga- his go-to order if it's on the menu. After one bite he looked at me and the shocked look on his face made me think it was gross, but I was wrong. He told me it was the best he has had. I am telling you, some of the best Mexican food. PLEASE GO HERE. Make a reservation because this place gets packed fast. We went one night and there was an 1.5 hr wait and we were starving after a day of scuba diving but we could tell this was the place to be so made a reservation for the next night and there was a line out the door when we got there! Ambiance was also fun. Great art and lighting.
