I got some late night munchies at Taqueria52 on Friday, Jan 17, 2025 at 10:30 pm. The establishment wasn't busy for a late Friday night for dine-in, but was more busy at the bar. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the tacos here. They looked and tasted pretty typical of tacos you would get from a taco truck. The presentation was elementary and lacked that restaurant quality. The asada was bland. The shrimp tasted like it was previously frozen. It really needed help with some more seasoning and I thought it could benefit some freshness from pico de gallo. The guacamole was such a small portion that I cannot really forgive for given the price of $8.50. I'm a huge chip dunker when it comes to guacamole and the entire bowl was gone after like 5 chips. The kicker here is when we ordered a second guacamole, it came out with even less portion than the first time. Although the service was friendly and nice, it was slow. It probably didn't help that we were sat in the back of the restaurant. It took a while for our orders to be taken. Ummmmm, I am definitely on the fence with this place, super slow service ( they were not even crowded this past Wednesday ), we could barely get a waitress over, and it took a long time to get my unseasoned chicken fajitas. First things first, they're open till 1am so if you want a late night restaurant, this is the place to go. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be so I was able to be sat immediately, and had to option to choose where to sit. I was greeted immediately and was brought water as well. After looking over their main menu and seasonal menu, we ordered 2 kimchi tacos, T52 fries (loaded fries), and the al pastor burrito. The total was around $30. I had my mom with me, so we ended up sharing everything we ordered, and she really enjoyed it and still talks about it to this day. For some context, this isn't the type of food she would normally enjoy, so for her to continuously talk about it it was pretty good. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. As good as the service was, our server waited next to us for us to pay, even after we told them we would pay in cash. TL;DR: If you value your time and want to eat in a reasonable time, do NOT order here. Ordered 2 fajitas, 4 tacos and a guacamole (~$60). Did not get it after waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes. Timeline (from texts): 10:26 pm - Placed order online, said it will be done at 10:39 pm 10:50 pm - Arrived at restaurant, I went up to the server station since there was no host in the front. Asked about my pickup order and was told "Hah, it won't be done for a minute. We are backed up." I was like, ok... and started waiting at the bar. Observed that the places was decently filled so I was OK with waiting a bit. 11:26 pm - After waiting 35 minutes, asked if my order was ready. They asked for my order, I showed it to them, they said OK and went to the kitchen with no further response. Observed at this point that they had ~15 people at the bar and 3 tables. I was thinking about canceling at this point but thought it would be done soon. 11:42 pm - Asked about the order again and this time, the employees in the front went back to the kitchen and packed the two fajitas. Then, was told that the tacos were not ready yet. 11:55 pm - No further updates other than the "Waiting on the tacos." I decided that I've waited too long (1hr 40min) and asked to cancel the order for a refund and left. During my time at the restaurant, there were two other people waiting for a pickup order who've also waited 1hr+ with me, but fortunately for them, they got their orders at the end. I am very unsure why it even took this long since there was only 3 tables with people as well as the 15ish people at the bar. The lack of response from staff was very frustrating since there was no justification for the wait. If this was a "bad day", I sincerely hope this is one of the worst ones. If you are looking for a great Mexican Cantina go around the corner to Alebrije Mexican Restaurant. I promise you the experience is 100% better. The variety of food and drinks, the noise level (you can hear your date) and not be frozen out by the temperature of the bar. Thankfully there are plenty of other options in the same courtyard area as Taqueria 52. Gu Thai has amazing Ramen, Jak Omakase for sushi with excellent service. Hōō Izakaya is a hopping place with a full bar that is not loud and obnoxious. I will concede that I haven't tried Taqueria 52's new brunch menu, but Paris Baguette is also right there, and they are delicious!! read more

Along with the order, I got chips and two sauces with it. I was really curious about the Cauliflower Al Pastor Taco, and it turned out to be my favorite of the 3.
