Mr. Tarabini and his son came out to fix electrical issues in my house a few months ago. I appreciated greatly the time they took to explain things to me and make sure everything was working. They came the same day I called them and they even worked on things that we just discussed in casual conversation that I'd been having issues with and didn't even charge me. My dad just got his a/c done by Tarabini and said they were the best deal in town(better than COSTCO, too) and they did a great job. Plus, they went under the house to check everything out and found an unrelated water leak that needed to be taken care of ASAP. They cleaned up after any dirt that got tracked in on their special suits to go in the crawl space. Very friendly, too. Super careful with my 4 year old around and very nice all-around. They explained everything they did and talked to my dad about concerns regarding the water leak they found. Of course our A/C stops working during the hottest time of the year. We used a different company at first who came out and replaced a part & we were told to leave our air on at a super low setting for a couple of hours to let the cool air kick in. Needless to say, we paid $200 & heat continued to blow from our vents. I should of known when the first company showed up on a Harley and minimal tools. Finally found Tarabini Mechanical on yelp & I received a call within 24hrs and a appointment the same day. He was in/out within 30 mins and found the cause of our problem. Jim and his sons were awesome! I had gotten a really expensive quote ($4,000- $10,000) from One Hour Heating & Air for hot air blowing from our AC. They said the entire unit needed to be replaced. I called Jim for a second opinion and he came out to take a look. Turns out, it was just screw that wasn't screwed in properly in the disconnect box, a $175 fix! I'm so glad I called him instead of just going with One Hour. He really saved us a lot of money and now we have cold air in the 100 degree weather! Jim and Tarabini Mechanical are AMAZING! After moving into a new house, my wife and I purchased a washer and dryer. It seemed like a firstly straightforward affair. Once the delivery truck came, however, it was a completely different story. Instead of setting up the laundry room with a 30-amp circuit breaker and a three or four prong outlet, the previous owners set up the laundry room with a 50-amp breaker and an outlet for a range cooktop. Short story: we couldn't use the dryer. So we delayed delivery to find another solution. After doing some research online, I found that the problem was fairly simple to fix, and could be done by most competent electricians. However, as a new homeowner, I wanted to find the best. After looking at Yelp, Jim came highly reviewed, so I decided to give him a try. After calling him late on a Saturday evening and expecting to get a voicemail, Jim actually picked up the phone. After explaining my issue, he said he could do the job for a $100 service call (plus the cost of parts). I was sold. He even came out to my home after work on the next Monday! He did the job quickly, skillfully, and for the quoted price. He was friendly and personable, too. It is amazing now-a-days to find honest, hard-working, fair and incredibly talented professional electricians. My A/C went down here in Antioch during a heat wave. I called a local National HVAC Chain first (big mistake). That technician (although in my opinion should never even have that in his job title) was a waste of $140 for him to tell me that I had an electrical short in my wiring and that he wasn't qualified to do that kind of work....so I should call an electrician. In retrospect, I suppose I should actually THANK him, as my next call was to Jim Tarabini and his privately owned company Tarabini Mechanical. Just by taking the time to talk to me on the phone, he made a preliminary assessment and reassured me it would most likely be an easy fix. When he and his son showed up the next day, they had the parts in hand and fixed my Central AIr Furnace Unit for under $200. I would give Jim Tarabini 10 stars if I could. The electricity in the laundry room of our rental property went out. I called two electricians and no one responded to my calls. Jim picked up my call during the first call and was able to fit us into his schedule at 6pm the same day. Jim and his guys did a fantastic job on the heating system. As an engineer, I can really appreciate the way in which they hooked up the hot water heating system in our old Victorian. The days were turning hot here in the East Bay and I needed my a/c to run. The condenser fan was not turning on my 1.5 year old unit. Please note, I foolishly purchased the AC unit from another company, who have been in the biz for over 30yrs in Oakley, and I have regretted that decision ever since. TARABINI MECHANICAL came to my rescue then (in July 2013, two days after installation of said unit by the other company, which shall be nameless.
