I use to come to this location a lot but as of late it does not feel safe as it use to be. I remember the car being broken into and the people that robbed this at midnight. I don't think it would be safe to shop at night. The positive side is that this Target is pleasant. They kept the store clean even though they had remodel the place a few times. Target keeps the store clean as much as possible. I have not seen any mess on their floor plus the restroom is working properly. Target can be busy during the daytime and driving around the parking lot to find a space to park at. It is safe to say it would be good to shop at Target during the daytime. You'll feel safe...just don't leave anything valuable in your car while you shop. read more

Horrible online experience dealing with unprofessional online manager. I'm showing her my item was accepted at the store but she refuses to look for the delivered merchandise. Claims she doesn't know where to look, and store policy is to refuse the delivery. However, my tracking says it's been accepted. There was no update the items were refused. Ugh this Target!!! They've done me wrong twice, can't wait for a third time! The first time- we were going on a trip to Italy and needed adapters to plug our stuff. We ask a young, male employee to direct us toward the converters/adapters to plug our phones in. He said Target didn't carry any... so we had to waste 30 minutes and hunt them on our own. Which of course Target carries! Second time- I ask for a vacuum that only employees can get for costumers. The employee (another young, male in electronics) scans the vacuum and claims they have one in the back. Leaves me waiting 20+ minutes until another employee comes, scans the vacuum and says they don't have any in stock!!! WTF!!! Why are you working at Target if you literally hate doing your job? Can't keep staples like dairy, meat, and distilled water in stock. Even their own brands. They keep locking up products in glass cases, have a militia of armed security, and expect customers to wait at the exit for staff to verify receipts. All while other folks will just walk right out with an unpaid for microwave and security does nothing to stop them. read more

I used to love coming to this location. I'd drive the extra 10 min to come here instead of the one near me. But recently it's been depressing coming here. From the SWAT looking security to all the security cabinets that now store most of their merch, the kind where you have to ring some bell in order to find someone to help you. Yeah those. I can understand that perhaps they've had to deal with theft, but that doesn't change the ambiance. Customer service has declined significantly. People at the dressings rooms so consumed in their conversation about their weekends that they don't realize customers waiting for a fitting room. A good stop for some last-minute necessities. We stopped by here to stock up on supplies before heading out to explore downtown San Francisco. Parking was a no issue, although it could be a bit of a pain. It gets very busy on weekends. On the flip side, cops patrol the area regularly, so rest assured the area is safe. The target was pretty clean and well-stocked. We picked up some bottles of water, and other stuff. The checkout lines were long, so we went through the self-checkout. The terminals here can malfunction at times, but a store clerk came to help us out. After checking out, and making a quick restroom break, we were out the door. Good evening. This afternoon I set out to go grocery shopping at the nearest Target in order to fulfill a fun and convenient experience as promised by this business established in 1902. I walked to Target with a service dog since I have disabilities that restrict me from obtaining a valid drivers license until the Department of motor vehicles performs a re-examination. I have Veterans endorsements and I have a psychiatric service dog who's trained to detect seizures and reminds me when to take prescriptions. Medium size dog. At approximately 5 p.m. as I entered 1555 40th St. 94608 location I was approached by the young lady door greeter who seemed to have gone out of her way to make someone aware that dogs weren't allowed inside the store. Obstructing my right of passage. I made a conscious decision not to engage, being that I frequent that store and my service dog intentionally stays by my side 24/7. Proceeded to the frozen foods aisle to pick up broccoli, beef and tortillas. The store manager (male) along with (3) security guards made it clear that they didn't want me present. Trying not to engage, I continued to go grocery shopping. On my way to self check out a team member pulled my groceries out of my hands which caused the groceries and frozen pizza to land directly on the floor. One of the guards took out a baton acting as if he Wanted to use it. I stated that even if he chose to hit me that I still wouldn't fight back. 2 hands other than my own were placed on my back and began by force, pushing me physically. I think in most counties in California moving a person by force and/ or against their own will can/ will be considered kidnapping. I made them aware that I would exit the store once I completed the purchase of items. I suggested law enforcement to be advised. Waited outside the entrance for Emeryville PD arrival 100% willfully zero restraints. Thank God they responded in such a timely fashion because I was feeling unsafe, maybe almost like a George Floyd type of deal. Having had no interest in conflict, EPD and I came to the conclusion that the officer would escort me and my service animal to retrieve the items I intended on purchasing. The store manager made false statements that he personally witnessed me throw the groceries on the ground or at customers. I can't help but wonder if this will happen to me every time I need tortillas. Oh, yeah did I already mention that it wasn't my first time entering this location with my service dog. The manager stated that he would agree to law enforcements suggestion. So I wished them a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays and bought groceries at the Pak-n-Save/ Safeway. read more

Used to come to this Target but will not anymore. They made getting things from their hygiene and vitamin section a hassle. Everything is locked behind a case and you have to ask for assistance for every single item. Having to wait for someone to help grab something as simple as toothbrush, face wash, deodorant or even vitamins has become an annoying chore. read more

Despite the bad news of what has happened between November 27 and December 15 with Target stores across the nation, and a good thing was I did not do any shopping (using a credit and/or debit card), I received a $50 Target gift card around the time of this mess. Spending the day with my sister and she wanting to purchase some more Christmas merchandise at 50% off, we stopped in to check what they had. There were certain necessities that she needed besides 1/2 off on Christmas cards - a pair of slippers for my mom, a bottle of Vicks Vaporub for my sister and a bottle of Palmolive Oxy detergent (my recommendation of the product). Then she ran into a former sales associates (back in the Emporium days) working there...job talk...I think my sister might consider applying for a part time position at this Target when she retires from the labor market...lol. I almost bought this bottle of Cirock Amaretto ($26.99) or the Kinky Liqueur (see photos), but that would have been impulsive purchases. What exactly is Kinky Liqueur? Well, according to the bottle and quoted here - it is a "naughty infusion of super premium vodka distilled five times with succulent mango, blood orange liqueur and passionfruit". Maybe I need this beverage served on the rocks when I have a kink in my back, hips and knee from certain type of activity...wink, wink...lol. I had to walk away and purchase what was necessary for my household - two bottles of Palmolive Oxy dishwashing detergents, a box of Prilosec (42 ct.) for my husband and a bottle of Rolaids (72 ct.). I bought another box of Christmas cards...hey it was only $2.00...and I couldn't walk away from a bargain. At least I did not use up all the value of the gift card at one time. I still have a little over $10 left. Target was busy and crowded with bargain hunters, and it was a good thing we managed to leave before 3:00 PM to head home. This Target is more convenient for my sister, but for me it is the Target in Alameda. read more

They have made this store incredibly unpleasant to shop at. Now, they have basic toiletries like soap, skin lotion, deodorant and toothpaste all under lock and key! You'd literally have to ask a person who works there to follow you around as you shop just for toiletries! These are inexpensive things. I could see doing this if these things were valuable and expensive. Plus, the armed guards standing in the doorway complete with guns and sticks (I guess to hit people with) are intimidating and scary. I used to enjoy shopping there. It was awful today. read more

The security look like military police, which actually gives the impression that it's not safe to shop there. They have recently locked the personal care items behind glass cases. Target will always receive no less than 4 stars from me-- I'm just simply in love with the brand that they have built. This Target location is ok given the location in a somewhat rough area near the freeway and West Oakland. Why do I say this? On the side of the store and in the rear near the tracks is a village of bums. This store is a smaller location, but still contains a grocery. I say that this store is smaller because the selection of featured premium guest designers can be limited. For example, the recent Marimeko products (toddler, girls, and women) were only available on two racks hidden in the ladies section. The store is pretty clean, the staff is always helpful, and returns can be made swiftly. I enjoy having this Target location near my office and will continue to visit it frequently. read more

I found some very nice jeans, very comfortable with the stretch strap and look good too. I was surprised Target had such a selection of longer length jeans as I am 5ft 10″. The parking lot is always crazy busy, but self-checkout is usually quick. Would definitely recommend. read more

This is a well-stocked Target and they definitely had everything we were looking for! Unfortunately we were here at about 10:30pm on a Saturday evening and so it just didn't feel very safe on the drive over. The backroads we had to take to get here were concerning but then we popped up in the well-lit shopping center and it was fine. We came in search of baby gift bags, tissue, and a few other odds and ends. Everything here was organized and we were able to get in and out in about 10 minutes. I sprained my ankle and couldn't walk prior to this trip and was relieved they had an electric scooter available at the entrance so I didn't have to strain myself while shopping. Customer service was great and the store was clean. I know where to go for my one-stop shopping next time I'm in the East Bay! read more

This is the worst Target of any Target I've ever been to. If this Target was an NFL team, they'd be the Cleveland Browns. If Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, this Target is Dismal-land, the saddest place on earth. This store is why online shopping is really the only way to shop. The products in this store throughout are limited compared to other Targets. The lines are extremely long, like 30 minutes or more before reaching a cashier. The employees look really sad and unhappy. I feel so bad for them here, it's worst than seeing a video on Facebook of a elderly person being abused by their caretaker. I'm angry and sad at the same time. On top of that, every undesirable person that lives in the east bay comes to roost at this Target. It's the Mecca for every transient and thug, like Israel is to Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Just take a drive around the back of Target and there is the largest homeless encampment I've ever seen. So if you're ever in the area and you need a few things from Target. Wear your bullet proof vest. Be prepared to feel a large range of emotions like sadness, fear, anger, and frustration. The staff here has never been helpful. Often times, they'll help you and leave to "check" on the product. You'll wait long enough to be annoyed and have to ask a second person. Soon you'll see the first associate you asked for help in another isle on their phone. Also, they are famous for putting products on the shelves "too early" before their release date. So you'll likely have the pleasure of bringing it up to the register to tell you that they won't sell it to you. If your staff put something on the shelves, why is it not available for purchase? And how dare you make the customer feel bad for trying to purchase it and make sense of the stupid situation that is entirely the fault of your store managers and staff. Weirdest shopping experiences at this store. That's if you can get through the trashy, crime infested parking lot. Three security guards (who don't know how to socially distance themselves) with a security car patrolling and still cars are being vandalized and broken into. Avoid this store. It's worth driving a little further to the Albany location. ENTIRELY different shopping experience there. Much more pleasant. It's been YEARS and I still don't think this Target has pulled it together. And having to follow additional rules and guidelines at this location has proven to be even more than they can handle. I went in for 20 minutes, got my car broken into, and over $2,000 worth of stuff stolen. I made the mistake of getting out of my car and shoving my backpack into the trunk, someone must've been keeping an eye on people, because 2 other cars were broken into at the same time. I was parked in the main road, in front of cameras that supposedly work. Clearly they don't, and I got screwed. If you park here, park in the front, and hopefully your car has nothing in it at all. Wow this is the best ! I repeat the best out of ALL Targets in the Bay Area to come to . Some of these reviews are ridiculous and of course most of them are from Karens and Racist people . Why is it I can never go to target and leave with the thing I originally wanted in the first place? I always end up buying way more than what I truly needed. The Emeryville Target is literally the best Target in the Bay Area. It is ALWAYS packed compared to other locations and they always have a very unique inventory. I wanted a pair of the Powerbeats Pro in all black and guess what? They had them AND they were on sale.
