Stood in electrical for 15 mins before being greeted by an employee, once I was greeted I asked for a television and was told that only certain employees could get the television. I waited for this special employee to finish with the person he was helping and before I could speak to him another employee told him someone need a camera, I let both employees know that I had been waiting in line and they both looked at me and walked off to help the other person. Since they remodeled, it seems like they have a lot less stuff. I went in to get bathroom night lights which are not LEDs. They don't carry any regular light bulbs anymore. This place used to be fine for a Target store, but now, if you are planning on going there for anything involving skin care, tooth care, hair care, etc, You are are going to have to find a floor person to open up their stupid locked plastic doors, lining at least 12 lanes of product! And then if you can find someone to open the doors, they give you what you are looking for and send you off into the store. So if I wanted to steal something I would have to ask the floor person to open the door so I could put it in my cart, and then walk to the other side of the store and slip it into my pocket or backpack. This is the stupidest f'ing plan I have ever seen. They probably spent minimum $200k removing and installing new security cabinets, and added $160k minimum per year for employees walking the isles opening locked plexiglass doors for people all day, every day. read more

Horrible parking lot design there are too many angry customers roo count and have no patience or manners they will slam a cart into your car or steal a spot you have been waiting for to signal into . Terrible stocking and supply chain at this constantly busy location. They had zero elf makeup lip stains also hardly any grocery stocked and moldy old produce . Onions at 99 cents that are moldy and wet in texture. Customer service : there is none. The employees look like they all were held by gunpoint to be in the store . I stopped shopping at the Emeryville/Oakland Target because they lock everything up. The last time I shopped there, they had no one around to open up the cases. The customer standing near me went and found a staffer, and she was extremely hostile--probably because she was in the middle of doing 15 other things. I get trying to deter theft, but locking everything up without adequate staffing to help customers doesn't work. It's an untenable situation. read more

This is a really nice location and has a big selection of the dollar shelves. The layout is nice, I was there today they recently remodeled this store. The Starbucks is big and nicer than most Starbucks that I have been to inside of targets. I lost track of time I was there for like an hour almost got lost in there. The combination of the armed guards patrolling the store and basic items (like deodorant, moisturizer, toothpaste, etc) being locked up makes it feel like you're a criminal. This shop was a hidden gem for me and I was able to find shoes I've been looking at online at GOAT or STOCKX and they either matched or had a slightly lower price in my shoe size! I was really happy with my finds here: They had the Acronym X AF1s in my size as well as the Acronym Vapor Max slightly in my size! It was unbelievable! Other than that, the staff was really accommodating. I don't see why this place doesn't have more stars because the guy who sold me even hooked me up with a nice RIF paper bag even though I said I was going to wear them out of the store! 4/29 TLDR, PSA: if you are buying anything of high value, like a game console, open the box in front of the sales clerk and verify the actual product is inside. I have been shopping at this target at least once a week, as it's very close to home. I have never had a bad experience buying regular groceries. My girlfriend's birthday is coming up. Growing up as a poor Chinese immigrant's daughter, she never had any toys or luxuries a normal child could experience. But one day her father comes home with a game boy color and a Japanese edition of Pokémon Yellow. She can't read Japanese, and the gameboy couldn't save her progress, but she would play through from the beginning and as far as she could go, struggling through the Japanese text via trial and error, until she had to turn the system off. She would repeat this process with just as much joy as the first run. It was the best and only toy from her childhood. So, fast forward to April 24. Now as adults, she saw the Let's Go Pikachu edition Switch. Her eyes lit up with nostalgia. Last one left. Her birthday is two weeks away, so I hopped on it and bought it without hesitation. 5 days pass and she couldn't contain her excitement, so she opened her gift early, today. But we were met with disappointment. Inside, someone had placed a used standard switch and it's accessories. Hell, they didn't even include the shoulder clip-ons for the joy-cons, so it's not even a full system. They took all the limited edition accessories out, too. This limited edition cost me $440 after tax because it includes a copy of the game, limited edition decorations etched to all of the accessories, and a limited edition controller in addition to the limited edition joy-cons. A standard switch is $299 (I believe? Could be wrong, but I'm sure it's that, or lower). So, I'm left with a very sad girlfriend, I am also left with the sunken feeling that I just got ripped a new fucking asshole. "If I bring this to customer service, they are totally going to think I fucking swapped this shit out. Not only do I get ripped off, but my reputation at my favorite local Target will be tarnished and I'll be seen as that schemey asshole," I thought to myself as I got in line at customer service. And here we are, readers. The manager had to get her boss, and I had to leave on the promise that they would get to the bottom of this and see what they can do two days from today, on Wednesday. I wonder if going through the other tribulations allowed this ease of an exchange this time, or if it just depends on who you get. I'll assume the former. But with extreme wariness, and for big electronic purchases, I'll go around the block to Best Buy, who had the product, factory fresh, unopened. Target is usually grab and go stop for me however at this location it never seems to be the case , today I went for wall anchors to hang up a few things around the house but couldn't find any . I love target. That said, this target is dreadful. I absolutely will not go here ever again. Disgusting. Last rip was a doozy. Took all my purchases out to my car to find something was leaking and sticky. Juice bottle had somehow leaked all over everything. Cashier never checked. But wait. It's more disgusting. It seems that someone had opened it up and drank from it. Yeah. In the time of covid I had someone's germy mouth and god knows what, leaking all over my purchases. So now I have to return everything. 300 dollars worth. But I'm not gonna do that. I return the offensive bottle and get my money back. I peddle my happy ass over to the cleanser aisle and pick up Clorox spray and assorted towels. Pay for items, head back to my truck, placed all items in the bed and sanitized everything in the goddamn target parking lot. Oh wait, there's more. While I was in the store an undercover guard caught a woman trying to steal baby formula. That became a thing. But here's the thing. I didn't really trip on all that till I woke up right now , made a bowl of cereal, cut up some bananas in it poured some milk that I just purchased from said target store, only to pour it all the fuck down the toilet cause the milk was ALREADY sour. The best thing about this Target is Target. The worst thing about this Target are the people who come here. When I arrived and took a cart (I love Target's carts, thick, sturdy, yet fairly light with plastic molding, beefy wheels, and with 50% less stray wheels with their own minds, or crippled carts with end stage bumpity bump)and this was what i got: Cart #1: Used pizza box in the upper compartment, yuck! Cart #2: Used orange drank cup about to spill out onto everything, yuck! Cart #3: Used squiggly straw dripping its remains over the cart, yuck! Any of these cart drivers heard of Trash Cans? This is a pretty large Target, with a good selection of just about everything you love at Target. I didn't notice if they have the newer food section, because I came here for 1 purpose....Blackout Curtains. Not that I am designing a Meth Lab in my bedroom or trying to keep voyeurs from seeing any kinky sex. No, it was for a relative to sleep better, easily bothered by the light that creeps in. I had gone to Ikea first, not far away, also in Emeryville (Emeryville never saw a development or retail opportunity it didn't like! I used to live here, even before Bay Street, Ikea, and this 40th Street Big Box mall). But Ikea didn't have blackout curtains, only floor to ceiling 98 inch drapes with rods and hanging systems you need a mechanical engineering degree to figure out. And I thought Target had a limited selection, until I went looking for curtain rods, and Voila, I actually found what I was looking for, blackout curtains that reduce noise, light, and help moderate extreme temperatures, with a simple rod hanging system. So I left happy, but if I ever come again, I might buy Mr. Clean and a large sponge to clean off the carts. Oh, and about those people who come here, they are not all bad. Some of my favorite Yelpers come here, too! #41 Normally my trips to Target are for toiletries, work out clothes, holiday cards, etc... This trip: groceries. A colleague had driven me to Cal for a seminar and we were headed back to my apartment. I knew I needed a few groceries so my peer mentioned Target. I thought, "For groceries???" He shops there, so it must be good enough for me as well. The parking lot was terribly crowded, all handicap spaces were full, all spaces remotely close were taken, so he dropped me off at the front door while he located parking. I wandered inside and found a Starbucks :) smile. I ordered a tall, skinny, vanilla latte and waited for my peer to arrive. Once he entered we grabbed a shopping cart and went to work. I had a decent sized list and was truly curious to see if Target actually carried everything I needed. I began with cat food...my nana (Nietzsche) needs his dry food. I started buying wet food at RAWR recently, but still supplement dry for breakfast for my fuzzy friend. Okay, next... I needed cheeses: Gouda Baby Swiss Cheddar Feta Ricotta Mozzarella I did find everything except the fresh mozzarella. Next, I needed fruits and veggies. I found a great price on potatoes. I recently started making my own hand rolled gnocchi from my grammy's recipe, so the HUGE bag of potatoes is perfect. I also got black berries, raspberries, strawberries, grape fruit and clementines. The spinach was fresh too. Also, I located celery and carrots for my matzoh ball soup ;) I did not find fresh parsley, however. I moved along to the canned items as I wanted beets, lots of beets, for beet salad, and also garbanzo beans for fresh hummus. The bread section was a bit lacking as far as special breads are concerned, but I did grab a loaf of potato bread. I needed Pom juice and Almond Milk. Grabbed those too. I did, at one time, have a difficult time locating the tomato purée. A sales associate. Ali, jumped right in and lent me a hand. Though he was busy with a project he insisted on walking me to the item rather than simply telling me where to locate what I needed. Ali also walked slowly with me, noticing my broken foot. Thanks Ali! To summarize my experience, Ali and the rest of the Target staff were very professional and helpful. I did, in fact, locate most of the items on my list. The only star I decided to deduct was due to price. It was a bit high. In the future I might not do my weekly shopping at Target, but I will always be willing to grab random items I do need. But also, in the future I will be able to drive myself to the store and not rely on my colleague's choice ;) Quality and freshness abound in the Target grocery. Onesies for your adorable nephew? Yes! IPads, outdoor furniture, bikinis, and a frothy Starbucks mocha frappucino to sip while you shop? Abso-effin-lutely. There's even a stop-'n-shop in the middle of the store that sells groceries, including produce. You haven't been to Target until you've put bananas into your cart next to the school supplies. Customer service is top notch, unlike any I've ever seen. There are red phones at the end of the aisles, and when you pick one up you can Press 1 to request a store employee at your location within 60 seconds. I didn't realize the seriousness of this helpful suggestion until a Target employee came careening around the corner, red-faced, raced to the phone, and pushed a button. "How may I help you?" he puffed. "Whoa," I said, "you didn't have to run! I'm so sorry!" "Actually," he replied, "I do. We have to make it to you within 60 seconds or we get in trouble." Like, the red store has no escalators and an Ugg shortage and no bar on the top floor so how could it possibly ever earn more than four stars tops? Don't be star stingy. This store is hella cool. Here's why: It's the first large grocery store anywhere close to West Oakland. True that. The fine historic important struggling against odds community has been without anything other than little liquor and chips markets save for the sweet place by the Bart station for a very very long time. It's given over a hundred local residents jobs. It's clean. The staff are helpful. There's a ton of stuff. It smells good. Parking isn't a pain. Prices are reasonable. I think there's music. I have to drop breadcrumbs when I go in to find my way out. I'm pretty sure elves in red t-shirts move my crumbs into aisles packed with things I didn't even know I needed because I leave with way more than I intended to procure. Unlike the San Francisco Center, where the devil moves my crumbs, these extra bags don't prevent me from making next month's mortgage. I drank the wine from the hate all things big box goblet for a while and did as I was told. That buzz has worn off and I shan't swill from your cup any longer. I was really surprised by my super easy Black Friday experience here. Granted, I didn't go at a peak time, but this store was very organized and well-stocked. They had a deal in stock that was sold out in surrounding areas still available late in the afternoon. They had 3 people directing traffic in and out of their parking lot. The staff inside was also very nice, accommodating and polite to not only me but other customers, and this was in the very popular electronics area. They even picked up the phone, which shocked me! Total time in and out including parking was maybe 20 minutes. Very professional and effective performance on the worst shopping day of the year! Considering how busy this store is, it is amazing that it's well-organized. The parking lot seems to be continually packed, and parking further out seems to make it easier to leave. The prices seem a little higher than I normally see, but given the location, it's understandable. I am surprised how well-stocked the store is, even though certain areas, like movies and music are thin. Organized differently than what I'm accustomed to, the food/imbibing area with the Starbucks is exceptionally spacious here. There are many more employees to help greet you, assist you with items, and an easily spotted security presence as well. Organized and brightly lit, this Target is meant to be patronized with those sneakers that have roller blade-like wheels on its heels. Translation: octogenarians oughta power walk here... they'd firm everything else and their mother by clocking just one full round here! My gawd. This is the only place I know that sells men's waist size 26 jeans. When I first saw them I thought they were accidentally women's or teenage kids jeans placed in that section. They weren't. There doesn't seem to be much of a point to yelping a Target, but here's my two cents. This place always has the most helpful associates, and there is always someone nearby to help. That's quite a feat given the fact that it's always so crowded! This review is mostly to give props to the greeter who says "God Bless you". I'm not religious but he seems like the nicest person ever and I always hope he's working when I visit! secondly, I'm writing this because I watched Brenda, who seems to be a manager, kick but tonight at keeping check out lines moving, then going to guest services and helping out. Who doesn't like Target? Close to my apartment, it literally is a hop, skip,and jump away from me. Everything is all nice and new. The layout reminds me of the one back on Oahu. A single floor paradise, not a two level target like the Albany one. So no carts getting stuck in the cart mover between floors. Being that it was opening weekend, it was jam packed crowded. The entire parking lot was full with cars circling. Inside, long lines of customers being queued to the cashiers. The queue system does work, as I timed my entry into the queue till the cashier. The wait time was less than 5 minutes. Not bad, as I was expecting a longer wait. Target, welcome to the neighborhood. read more
