You don't go to Target knowing what you want. Target will tell you what it wants you to want. You will buy it. You will wonder how you accidentally spent $100. This is the way of Target. Secrets to Target: 1) everything seasonal comes out about a month or more in advance, so plan ahead! When it's the actual season, what you need won't be available (like patio furniture in July) because they're constantly operating ahead of time. Segue... 2) if you see something you want, buy it right then because the likelihood it'll be around in a week is low (seriously, the lack of patio furniture in summer is shocking). 3) they have a relationship with British store M&S who ships them sweets around the holidays and they sell out almost immediately, so keep your eyes out for them around the end of November. 4) if you don't know where something is located within the store, check out Target's website and make sure your location is set to the store you're in: it'll tell you exactly which aisle to find a thing! 5) there are some AMAZING vegan frozen food options that I haven't found at my local Hannaford or Whole Foods (plant-based pizza Ming Bings and Morning Star riblets to be exact). 6) if you're a petite adult, you can wear their kids (especially Cat & Jack brand) L and XL! Pros to THIS Target: it's close to where I live; it's usually well stocked; the best bathing suits I've ever owned come from here. (MAJOR) Cons to THIS Target: the parking lot is a nightmare; it's always busy regardless of when you come; there's stuff thrown everywhere on the floor (especially in the women's clothing section), the lines are impossibly long despite the many self check-out options. read more

Target is a store I really try to avoid most the time for a large variety of reasons. Unfortunately for me they are a spot that carries a few things I can't find elsewhere. Besides that and a lot of the reason behind the low rating for this particular location is how much of a disaster this store looks like. Now I do suspect it's often due carelessness of customers but it's insane how often the clothing areas look like a tornado ripped through it! Also Target is yet another brand that has limited the amount of items you can have and go through self-checkout which is great to avoid people with full carts slowing the line for those with just a few items. Despite this fact though they don't always have a ton of cashier lanes open which causes back ups for those not using self-checkout. Typically a spot you are better off avoiding unless looking for something specific. read more

I am not sure how many times I have been to this target and even though I normally am not pleased I'm sure I will keep coming back. Recently though I have been a few times and the service is awful. You can't find anyone to help you and then you have to wait in line for at least 30 mins to check out and this is for self check out or for a person. It's so disorganized and it always stresses me out to go in there. I also haven't been able to find what I am looking for with the shelves being pretty empty as well. If you're not local, you'd better have navigation handy. I needed to make a quick run to a Target, and I was staying at a hotel on the other side of I-95. From my hotel window, I could see the store, but I had no idea how to get there. Navigation showed it wasn't obvious, but was easy, to get to it. Inside, it's your typical Target. One of the managers was having a pow-wow with a bunch of employees - about a dozen - at the first big intersection as you walk in. That was a little inconvenient to get around. It also looks like they may have rearranged some of the shelves recently, because a few items were 1 aisle off and, their location was not immediately obvious. I have stopped into the store three times in the last six days to try to find something in the men's section, and could somebody tell me why this whole section has look like this every day that I've come in? I mean, I get being shorthanded, but JFC, seriously? Does nobody at the store have a single ounce of work ethic or pride? How do you walk by every single day and allow it to look like this? Especially when everything substantially priced higher than your major online retail competition? I can sit in the luxury of my own clean house and order these things then come in and be surrounded by a bunch of incompetent adults with zero pride in their work. Why should I pay their salary or hourly wage for them to obviously take zero initiative to make a store look even semi decent. I've been thrift stores and flea market are taking care of better than your corporate store. But if you're fine being absolutely worthless at your jobs and go home and feel proud of yourselves, power to you. This Target looks like a Target that has gone through the apocalypse, week after week after week. This Target is the only Target in Portland, while the next one is 30 mins away in Biddeford, therefore shipments are sparse. For some strange reason, something I need is ALWAYS out, and shelves are always rummaged through. Bulleye's Playground is unfortunately right next to the restroom...which smells HORRENDOUS. Usually, I take my time perusing through the 1-3-5 dollar spot I've come to adore. However, for this Target, I run straight to what I need (if available) and head out. read more

Really love to shop here. It's great place to shop at. Very clean and neat. They only thing I Don't like is that, sometimes there are only two registers open ? :((. But it's a really Good place to shop at. Plenty of Space inside to shop around, especially now too. Not all of people are shopping with this Virus going on. HATE the re-do they did in the front where the sunglasses, hats, and junior miss clothes are. There are literally no mirrors other than one tiny face sized mirror and that's it! WTH, Target? The renovation has been great, the costumer service is always amazing, unfortunately they like all other business are experiencing a shortage of help creating long waits and a messy store but that really can't be held against them, this is an issue everywhere. If you have read my Biddeford Target review, you know by now that I love, love, love Target. It's my person. I want to bask in the greatness that is Target. Naturally, this Target is no exception. This Target is fairly organized and they have a large parking lot that is shared with various other stores, which is nice. I also love how their home section is set up and their grocery section is extensive for a Target, in my opinion. However, compared to other Targets I have been to, it's not my fav. For one, this Target can get BUSY. On every occasion that I have gone, the lines are incredibly long, and it's not because they are understaffed...it's just the flux of people. Again, not totally Target's fault, just something that turns me away from coming to this location at times. This is a overall decent Target that I go to when I'm in the area, however if they could add more registers at some point, I think that could alleviate the mass amounts of people. read more

Teeeerrrrreget! Location - We really like this store as it is close to other shopping eating options. As with most of their locations, great parking options as well. Staff - this place never is lacking for staff. The staff, on the many occasions we have shopped at this location, have been friendly and helpful - especially when it comes to finding a shorter checkout line for you. Another amazing thing - consistency with staff, we see a lot of the same familiar faces. Seems they have low turnover. One stop - we always have found the items we are looking for and bonus...sometimes they are on sale! Speaking of sales. Of the great things about this store, is they seem to always have something on clearance or deeply discounted sale in every department (although I can't speak to the children's/baby's sections) We shop for every day items, seasonal items, gifts - i mean it's Target, they have so many options for every occasion. My ding for the 1 star - the good news is there always seems to be a sale on clothes, the bad news....looks like a microburst hits those locations frequently. Oh I absolutely love this store. It's the only store out of all stores, that I have been to that the customer service is truly hand for hand. They messed up on a $800 new iPad and he handed it out To a customer when it was being held for me for after I was done shopping.so they gave me $500 off the one they ordered for me. That's customer service. But it's not only that one exception. It has happened a few times that they have taken very well care of me if they make a mistake. Target I love you. The only reason why I give you 4 stars is because you don't have things a normal store like you should have. You do not have earring backs...and you do not have window blinds. Yes, I saw that you had them online but I wanted them yesterday right away. You had zero. I was pretty disappointed and had to go to the dreaded "W" place. Other than that I love your store. You $1 section - especially the packs of Thank you cards has saved my life more than once! Filthy! This store is just dirty. Outdoor sidewalk lined with used masks, discarded wrappers and God knows what else. Inside, it's not any better. Many of the aisles have things just laying on the floor, or tossed aside haphazardly, items in random spots where they shouldn't be, and very disorganized aisles that don't have anything off the shelf. You can blame some customers for not putting things back, I'm not blaming the employees for that. And there is a staff shortage, I am aware. But they really should have someone doing stocking and making sure aisles are neat and tidy. read more

Decided to stop by Target this evening to pick up a last minute holiday gift for my wife. I found the gift quickly and then I saw the extremely long checkout line. It was crazy, but I needed to pick up the gift, so I bit my tongue and anchored myself in line. I figured I'd be there for quite a while, however surprisingly the system they had set up worked very efficient and they had me at a register in a matter of minutes. I was very impressed. So, this overall experience was great. I was able to park, get into the store easily, find what I wanted quickly, and get through the register in a matter of minutes. Let me tell you a story. I'm sure these events could have taken place at any Target throughout the country (maybe it's even happened in your town), but this particular tale begins in South Portland, Maine, on an ordinary Saturday afternoon. I was in need of a household staple, something that nearly everyone in New England has in their home (winter is coming, after all). This essential item is paramount to your survival (okay, that may be stretching it a bit) should you lose power in a blizzard (or even on a windy day if you have CMP). High and low, we searched through the aisles of Target for a single box of MATCHES. My poor husband--he absolutely hates being in a store longer than necessary--helped me on my quest for these wondrous sticks of flame. "Where could they be?" we asked ourselves, as we hunted through the endless piles of utensils in the Kitchen-goods aisle. "Well, maybe we're just odd for keeping our matches in the kitchen, let's check if they have a section for candles." Off we go, to our new destination... only to find that, whilst Target has a variety of scented wax for your pleasure, you may only light them with disposable butane contraptions! "Aha!" I exclaimed. "There must be some in the seasonal aisle for charcoal grills!" We vamos'd to the Bodega and found piles of grilling essentials, though unfortunately our beloved caja de cerillas could not be found among the wreckage. In a last ditch effort, we turned to the paper goods aisle. After all, you can burn paper-esque materials with your matches, right? Up and down we searched... napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, more charcoal for your grill (huh?), and finally, as we left the area and passed some plastic cups... we noticed a small box with a diamond design on the cover. Could this be? Had we finally found them? I raced to the shelf and held up my prize! Four different areas of the store, and I've found it! We can FINALLY check out and go home! But wait... "You have got to be %@#% kidding me!" In my delirious haze, it took me more than a moment to realize the box in my hand contained a different wooden stick altogether: "TOOTHPICKS!" Crushed and defeated, I threw the box back to the shelf when my husband, who is much taller than I, heard my exclamation and truly saw the gleaming trophy on the shelf above my head. "Look up," he said, and there, FINALLY, the Holy Grail... our box of matches. My friends, I learned a very important lesson this day. Never ever shop at Target for a random item because the place makes no sense, you'll never find it, and employees seem to be non-existent. /// Fin /// On a more serious note, this place often has empty shelves and is terribly messy in some areas of the store (others, like cleaning and beauty supplies are fine). Every single time I've been here to find something for a friend's baby registry, it's been a hassle and not worth it. Likewise, the clothing and jewelry sections could be hazardous to your health if you don't watch where you are walking. I like Target, I just don't like THIS one. Unlike previous reviews, I found find no one willing to help - and it was as simple as where do they display the sugar-free candy. Hugely disappointed in the unwillingness of staff to help so left empty-handed. At the Scarborough Walmart an associate has walked me to the location an item is placed. read more

This morning (early) I went into the Target Store in the South Portland, ME. I was disgusted by what I saw. I was searching for a pair of dress shoes, but the shoe section looked like a tornado went through it. Every shoe isle had boxes, papers, shoes, etc. scattered all through it, and you could'nt even get a cart through it. I've never seen a shoe department this bad, in all my life. There were no employees in the shoe section to find. I gave up, and spent my money elsewhere. I was'nt the only one who made comments on this. What a disappointment! read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this place which is why I can only go 3 stars. There are some great things and then there are things that make me so frustrated, I want to pull my hair out. I'll always go here over venturing into Walmart, but there are times when that's unavoidable. It usually happens when the selection at Target is lacking or they don't even carry a specific item. Let's start with the good things, hmm? + They recently added self-checkout lanes. Thank you, thank you, thank you! For an introvert like me, I don't have to interact with the public! Hooray. They actually work well too and I was quickly out of the store. + Did you know you can upgrade your cell phone here? Did you? I bet you didn't because the guy in the electronics department told me that they are a hidden gem for cell phone upgrades. When a new phone gets released, they almost always have a ton while the cell phone retailers run out quickly. The prices are ALWAYS better than going to the carrier's store. You might get lucky and they will be running a special like buy a $100 phone and get a $100 Target gift card. They frequently have specials including incentives like gift cards. The staff are very helpful and can quickly do the upgrade and send you on your way. +Target RedCard. I like having a credit card for them and getting a 5% discount on every purchase. + The grocery section is pretty awesome. They have a big variety of items and the prices are very competitive to a regular grocery store. Plus they often have sales or "buy X, get X free" which is good if you want to stock up on something. Now for the not so great things: - Whoever designed this store wasn't using their logical brain. Items aren't in areas where they should be and you will probably spend time wandering from section to section on a scavenger hunt. - During winter times, there are some must-have items that Target just simply doesn't carry. The most notable being windshield washer fluid. It is a staple for the winter (at least for me) and I couldn't find it in the Automotive section or even just a big stack out front near the registers. I don't understand how they don't carry it in the store. I end up having to go to either a gas station or the dreaded Walmart to get a refill. - The lack of organization throughout some sections of the store leaves me frustrated. Clothing racks aren't organized by size, shelves are a mess, etc. It just doesn't project a nice image of a clean, organized store. It makes finding things a challenge as well. read more

I just read a review while browsing in Yelp (another checkmark on my life's bucket list--yeah, me! LOL) for Target. The store here in So. Portland has some very nice people who work in all areas. I recently stopped shopping at another large retailer who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty from embarrassment (begins with W, ends with mart...you get the idea)...their brilliant ideas on customer service include hiring people who do not speak a word of English to be greeters.....REALLY? And being told where something "might be" is not the same as being shown to the aisle in case it was a wrong guess. Let's not wander any further into that territory. When I first walked in to Target a week ago, I was looking for those mystery washer sheets you can throw into the load to do one load of whites and colored items together and not worry about turning a white shirt splotchey pink (it does not resemble camouflage and the owner of said shirt will be upset...trust me on this) Looked twice and could not figure our where they hide. Then we met Abby...she is the trainer and manages the front end.....she called someone on the little radio and the guy came over, put in the vague name I gave him and told me where they were, how many they had then escorted me to them. Awesome....I am happy and my laundry is ecstatic...as ecstatic as a load od dirty laundry can be, I suppose. Abby also showed me an amazing savings tool they have called Cartwheel..download able app...and that I can stack manufacturer coupons on top of special deals and sales Target has....and i can save 5% with a special red card (check store for details). The people are friendly and don't just send you off to fend for yourself with a finger point in the general direction of the item, they escort you. Admittedly, there are times when the store has issues with out of place merchandise, every other large retailer does too. And sometimes items are not where you expect to find them. Just ask and I bet they can pull out the handy dandy little red computer and find it for you. Ahhhhhhh......customer service....so this is where you have been hiding! read more

Every time I have gone it always looks as though a hurricane has just passed with empty shelves (feels like a third world country), disheveled stock.. why? this Target location can be sort of hard to find if you haven't been here before. so take directions carefully and remember how close they are to the mall! as with other Target stores, this one reliably has lots of products that i want at reasonable prices. i always spend more than i mean to, not because things are too expensive, but rather because i tend to find too much stuff that i need! this is a definite first-stop when you're moving into a new apartment, they have just about everything you'll need. specific to this location, the staff are friendly, the aisles are spacious, the store is clean and the parking is plentiful. read more
