The Federal Way store was our home store until we recently moved to downtown Tacoma. Now we shop here at the Target off Union Ave. The store is nice, has everything we always go looking for. This location has convenient access, either backroads through north Tacoma, or jumping off the Union exit from HWY-16. Bonus is in the same parking lot is a pet store and liquor store so usually we can combine shopping destinations. read more

I recently moved to California for two years (altogether now: boo-hiss) and had the misfortune of shopping in Target there. When I returned home to Washington, my closest Target was the Target that had been closest when I moved to the dreaded sunshine state - the Renton Landing, which was new when I moved away. Two extremes there - the shiny, new Target with the food section and weird carts and the run-down Bay Area Targets in California that apparently eschew the plan-a-grams sent by corporate. All of that? Made me really appreciate this Target. They don't mess around with the layout every week. They keep reasonably consistent stock of things. The dollar section up front has stuff in it from this year. It's bright without being blinding, clean, and the employees have been there long enough to know where things are in other parts of the store. I do wish that Target, as a corporation, would knock it off with the Christmas creep and clearancing Halloween before Halloween though. Let me have fall first, you guys! read more

So I wouldn't call myself a Targe-holic but i have been know to come to this store from time to time. Thay have plenty of parking in the complex so if you come on the weekends you will find parking. You just might have to walk a bit further then you would like. They have handicap parking available right up front. ( Though you will find someone in their car using it to wait for whoever they have inside shopping so they don't have to find parking...just rude and there should be someone out there to kick them out of those spots) As you walk in, the customer service will be on your left ( in case you need to return anything or just for help with something ) This is a one stop shop that has a bit of everything. Just not too much variety on any one thing. The women have plenty of selections to choose from as far as clothing. Fellas, we are stuck in the back corner with very little options and everything is all crammed together to make it fit. For the most part I have not had any problems with staff. If fact most of them are super friendly. The trick is to stop them for help. Otherwise they will walk right by you. So be on your toes if you need help. The cashiers work pretty fast and the self checkout moves pretty quickly as well. I do wish that they would have more than 4 self checkout machines though. When it gets busy, that would help speed things up so much more. Just an idea Target lol anyway, if you need a place to shop for a few different things this is a pretty good place overall. It's Target! I am not a big fan of the new remodel. But the personnel are friendly & helpful & not annoying. Apart from watching thieves walk out the door with carts overflowing & wondering how much more my purchases are marked up because of it. This is why shelves aren't ever fully stocked. I don't feel comfortable here after dark. This store is much better than some of the other stores in the area. I can order something online & pick it up in a reasonable time. Great job cleaning the carts, but was shocked to see on of your employees (stocking the kitchen area) NOT wearing a mask. When she finally put it on she had it under her nose. Come on. We're in a deadly pandemic. Signs at the front of the stores say masks are required. Follow a good example and make sure your own employees are wearing a mask! Help keep our community safe. Ok. I get it. It's 2022 and people in retail don't care to acknowledge or care about their customers. The customer service I experienced today in their electorates department was honestly bizarre. I came up to the kiosk with 3 people behind the counter. No greeting. No "how may I help you" I had to ask them to unlock their video game so I could purchase. The black guy who helped literally was talking to himself while we walked to that section. He proceeded to talk to himself the whole time unlocking the game. Worst Target I have ever been to. There are always items strewn about on the floor of the isles and over half of the shelves are consistently empty from items being out of stock. Plan on waiting at least 3.5-5 hours for pickup orders, if they are able to find the items. They currently don't have shopping carts available if you want to shop yourself. You can tell the employees are trying their best with what they are given, but working in those conditions must be stressful. read more

So my wife and I come here often for our grocery needs but maybe that will change. Normally I receive a warm welcome as well as good customer service however today was a little different. A nice lady by the name of Graceful welcomed me to her counter and everything went fine when I noticed her name. I asked her if her name really was Graceful as it is unique and quite nice if I might add. She said yes and at that same time her coworker whose name I did not get jumped in and told Graceful and I quote "You must get tired of people asking you that." As she smirked sarcastically. First of all my conversation was with Graceful not you. And if Graceful does get tired of people asking her about her name then she can always change her name. Otherwise people will continue to ask her about it as it is not a common name. YOU can mind your own business next time someone is talking to your co-worker. Don't feel the need to jump in and be rude thinking that you're standing up for your coworker when all you're doing is making an ass out of yourself. You came off like a real bitch. You know who you are and the next time I see you I'll call you out to your face. After all that happened I finished with Graceful by saying I'm sorry I asked. My wife had some Shea Moisture and went to our local Target (North Tacoma branch in Tacoma, Washington) to use them up before they expired. She took our two girls. When it came time to purchase, the particular coupons were not ringing up correctly which prompted the Cashier to ask for help. The associate informed my wife that she was only allowed to use 4 like coupons per transaction. My wife then worked with the Cashier to try and split the total visit into multiple transactions, breaking down how many coupons she was allowed to use per transaction. The same Shea Moisture coupons were still ringing up an issue. This prompted the Manager to step in and remedy the situation. He briefly read the coupon and then stated that she could only use 4 like coupons per trip. He then said since the coupon value was higher than the value of the product, he didn't feel comfortable allowing her to use the coupons. My wife has performed this same type of action before at this store, with no issue. She explained she's done this before and the overage on one item gets applied to the balance of the other items. He repeated that he didn't feel comfortable allowing her to use the coupons because the coupon value was higher than the value of the product. My wife then politely asked to speak to the other manager she had worked with before on a previous trip with the same coupons. The man before her said that he was the only manager there that day and whatever he decides is how it's going to go. My wife then politely asked to see the coupon policy, to which he replied he will go and get it in the back. When he came back out, the Manager said "she's getting it and bringing it out." A Lady familiar to us both then came out, with no policy, and rudely stated that, "Target's coupon policy is whatever the coupon says." [I've been with my wife when she had to deal with this same woman before, who we thought may have been a manager or supervisor - she was rude then, too, didn't want to apply coupons then either; we went back the next day after that first encounter with her and the store was able to grant the coupons to the previous day's purchase, correcting the misinformation on the coupon policy given by the Lady to my wife, then apologized for the behavior.] My wife was able to read both the Manager and the whom she thought to be a supervisor's reaction and did not want to engage in confrontation, so she simply said, "okay," then decided to continue ringing up a small purchase. She then asked the Cashier if she knew the names of the Manager and the Lady. The cashier then informed my wife the Manager's name was Nick and the lady was security. Let me point out that my wife is black, the Manager is white. Why did Security have to be involved over a question of the coupon policy? Why, even then, was Security aggressively dismissive and rude with my wife while she was being polite. Why didn't anyone provide the policy? If the policy had changed -which my wife wanted to be informed of, if that is the case - why did they not provide the policy so she could be apply it to future trips? Why was she treated so rudely and dismissively? Why did the Manager call Security on my wife instead of providing company policy? I'm speaking on my wife's behalf because with everything going on (with COVID-19 and with the protests over George Floyd's death), she's being forced to confront a reality she didn't think was so close to home. She was racially profiled, demeaned and devalued as a person/customer. She was ignored based on her race and it was easier for them to just push her out of the store as quickly as they could than try to rectify the situation. She's now crying because she can't help but wonder -if she were white, would they have called security or given her he policy? She can't help but wonder if she would be treated differently if I - her white husband and Iraq War veteran - would have been there with her. She was not rude, she was not impolite in any way, shape, or form. It was going to be just another trip, but she ended up being dismissed and cast aside, devalued. We've been hit hard, like many people in this pandemic, and she was just trying to save money like everyone else. She didn't have to take into account that she may be treated differently because she's black, and the manager didn't want to have to deal with her so he had another black woman be rude to her on his behalf. Rather than help her to purchase the items she wanted and provide proper assistance, the manager on duty found it easier to bring security, the very presence of intimidation, into the situation. This was nothing more than racism centered in white fear and intimidation politics. I hope that both employees are disciplined if not terminated. There was no need to call security when the manager was asked for the coupon policy, so my wife could be better informed. Instead of providing my wife with the policy, he used a figure of intimidation to address her. read more

I love Target. During the worst of the economic meltdown in our beloved country, Target approved me for an in-store only credit card and saved my starving student behind. Between the affordable house supplied, cheap movies and electronics, cheap pet supplies, and the mini grocer, I was able to pull through the roughest stint of my independent life with minimal calls to the Bank of Dad. What I never realized until maybe two years ago (which consequently is when this particular Target really started having a grocer) is that I could get all of the essential foods and frozen frozen foods, minus the fresh produce, for about half of what I would pay at safeway. Plus, at the end of the day, paying 5 dollars for a bottle of Barefoot really puts a mind at ease, and the shelf of Pepperidge Farm cookies placed strategically across from the wine? I am a TARGETaholic..... Yes, I just admitted it, I am a TARGETAHOLIC:) My husband once asked, if we become FILTHY rich you would still shop at Target wouldn't you??? I answered, DUH, YES, YES, YES!!!! LOL'.... Being said, this particular location is my favorite out of the 3 in my general area. I can always find what I need her even with the new remodel and us moving away, I still come back and can find things in a pretty easy fashion. Went about a hour or so before closing. And I was absolutely appalled and taken back with how messy softlines was. And 3 of the employees (younger) that were in soft lines were literally messing around having a great old time in the corner right before the fitting rooms where the clearance items are I would say for a good 15 minutes or so!!! When they should've been recovering their department and who knows how long they were there before I entered. That right there is why the department was a complete disaster it made it almost repulsive to ship in softlines and I'm for sure the was plenty of missed opportunities for sales because they weren't doing their job correctly! Once I checked out I asked the cashier who I would need to call to inform about this and she called Alexandria (or something similar to that name) (blonde hair )over and I told her what happened and basically what I'm saying on here and all she did was give me attitude and ask she said it's that they were short staff. No apology or I will definitely have a talk with them or that's not acceptable . Instead I get attitude and hear talking offensive of letting her know what's happening in her store. I will be calling and talking to the store manager as well. Would given zero stars if I could. I don't know if I'll be shopping there anymore. read more

In addition to all of the regular *stuff* this Target location carried before, they have recently completed a remodel that includes a new grocery section with produce, meat, dairy, etc. Yippee. I like shopping at Target just fine (who doesn't want more STUFF for less $$?), but I don't care for this particular store all that much. It seems like its always too busy here, the parking lot is a mess, and people can be kinda rude (probably frustrated by the crowded store and clusterf**k parking lot). I prefer to go to the Lakewood or Gig Harbor locations instead (or Lacy, Olympia, Puyallup, Silverdale... seems like Target is everywhere!). read more

I took my dogs to the vet then was going to be on my way to the Dr. for myself in Tacoma and when I got the dogs to the vet they pooped in the back of my SUV. Now, in general, I love Target. But saying that, compared to other Targets, this is not the cream of the crop. It is conveniently close to the freeway, but not the easiest to get in and out of the parking lot. I can't even imagine what it will be like once the Wal Mart opens. It always seems to be a little out dated, feel a little older and grimier than the other Targets near us. They still have all of the awesome things that I love about Target- great prices on everything I need from new clothes to jewelry to toothpaste to dog toys to food even! I love Target! I've always thought that Target is too pricey. Wrong! Their items go on clearance and it keeps getting marked down to as low as 90% off! They offer mobile coupons, in-store coupons and they accept manufacture coupons. More savings on your purchase. Plus, if you bring your own shopping bag you can save another whooping five cents per bag! I love how they are starting to have some fresh meats and produce. I always buy my fruits here because it's from Driscoll's! Everything else is in the fridge or frozen. But their selections are huge! This Target is pretty clean and organize. Terrible customer service from Saryeah. I approached the Customer Service desk, there was no line so I walked right up. She told me to wait one moment for no apparent reason. She then advised me she was ready to assist me. I was there to shop for Shipt, an online shopping service. It was my first time shopping this service at Target so I figured I would ask how it works at this store. Saryeah just stared at me as I explained why I was there. She had no information for me nor advice, luckily there was a man that jumped in from behind the counter to help. I didn't catch his name but he was wearing makeup. He was very sweet and extremely helpful. He advised me how the Shipt shopper was to work in Target and sent me on my way. While I was looking for a craft in the toy section I asked Saryeah for help as I saw her mulling around with another cashier in the aisle. The cashier she was with politely told me she did not know where the item was. Saryeah just plainly walked away. I will no longer shop Shipt at your store because of this employee. She needs training on what Customer Service is. Many of the employees here didn't seem to know where things were, perhaps target shouldn't move things around every night. This will be the last time I shop at this store. I have shopped here since it opened over 20 years ago, when I was a teenager. Now, I am a mother of two little kids and I am done. I just came from the store and was followed around by a man who approached me in an empty isle, trying to give me some story and asking for money. He came right up to me, which I do not feel comfortable with, especially if I am with my kids, which thankfully, I was not this time. I refused this man quickly and then watched him go up to several other women, some with children, all while Target employees looked on and did nothing. Then, as I was forced to use the self check out, due to no regular registers being open, except for express; I watched a young, male Target employee stand and chat it up with another customer going through self check about how he gets paid to do nothing. At the same time, the man, who had been approaching women in the store, walked right up in front by the employee and asked yet another female for money, getting in her space. Employees did nothing. As I was leaving my parking spot, I witnessed the same man about to enter TJ Max, and called them to tell customer service what he had just been doing at Target. They were very thankful and were sending security to escort him out. Next, I called target and asked for a manager. Instead, I was put on the phone with someone in security, who sounded like a teenager. I explained the situation and how not a single employee did anything and how I do not feel safe shopping at this store any longer, parking lot or inside. I explained to him how this was happening more and more outside in the parking lot and now it is happening inside the store. He didn't seem to care much. I did request that he take down my number and have an actual manager call me back, as I did request to speak to a manager, not a security guard in the first place. Bottom line: If you are a female, whether single or with children; you are likely to get approached by random vagrant men while either in the parking lot, loading and unloading your kids from their car seats, or even while shopping inside the store itself. Target has nil for security and this sort of activity is acceptable to them. They do not seem the least bit interested in ensuring the safety of their shoppers, especially their female shoppers, with or without little ones in tow. read more
