Place was clean and quiet. Should have known when the place was empty. They forgot the dip to my potstickers. Sent it out with an empty cup. Tasted like something from the microwave. I luckily like microwave food so I ate it. Dad and I ordered a New York strip medium rare. The outside was cooked but the inside was raw. We went it back three times. It was more medium when I got it back. Dads was medium rare. It didn't taste good. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were good but it was a big bummer. Especially for Father's Day. The service was fine. A little fast but I feel like they're doing their best? Idk I don't like to be negative when they're not explicitly rude. They didn't comp anything which is wild for the price. We visited our daughter and grandkids staying at the hotel. We all did the Saturday buffet breakfast. The servers were friendly and attentive but the food..... cold pancakes, dry scrambled eggs, omelet station attendant was too busy cooking one omelet with two pans open, the fruit and pastry stations not kept stocked. Would I go back again to give it a try? Not at $27 a person, oh well. read more

The Tarpon House is located In the Marriott Hotel property, on Punta Rassa. It overlooks their pool area and has a channel view in the background. The staff was very quick and efficient. We visited for a light dinner, and shared the BBQ Chicken Flatbread and the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad. The BBQ Chicken Flatbread was straight-forward. The chicken was breast meat and not overly cooked. The caramelized inions added as a nice tang. The BBQ was savory and a bit sweet. As you can see in my pic of the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, the seared Tuna was the star. There was an ample amount and it was incredibly tender. The seasoned crust was good - it's a bit peppery. This tuna was served cold. read more

It was a nice environment and we were promptly greeted and seated. Grace was our server. She was fantastic!!! We sat by a huge window and enjoyed the beautiful water view and sunset. Food....wow! Had the bang bang shrimp tacos with homemade flour tortillas. They were stuffed with shrimp and they were well seasoned and tasty. Husband had the Cali chicken sandwich and he enjoyed it very much. Before we begin, we are also guests of the resort and we are here for a 6-day stay. Service was terribly slow, after blaming it on the lack of workers we didn't buy it as there were 8-10 free handed workers pacing and walking around, it took us roughly 45 minutes to get our food, there was ingredients on all of our meals that weren't stated on the menu. We visited for a quick dinner which turned into a dreadful experience we heavily do not advise this restaurant. After our meal we decided to get an order of two small desserts which took 20 minutes to get, just for them not to give us utensils, we didn't even notice until we got back to our hotel room. We called the hotel 4 times over the course of an hour and 20 minutes to get utensils for our meals in which we had to end up going there to get ourselves. I had breakfast here and the outdoor patio is very beautiful and the service is good. I had the egg sandwich with bacon and it was pretty good, but a little on the expensive side. If you are staying here and the buffet is open (closed for covid) then it is a great option. I think this is the only breakfast on site so it is good, but not great. read more

Tarpon House is a pretty standard hotel restaurant. I visited for breakfast. I ordered cornflake encrusted French toast. It sounded so unique on the menu I had to give it a try. The results were a little less interesting than the menu description. The rest of my party ordered pancakes and the egg white fortata. They were all happy but not blown away. There was a buffet with the standard options if we did not want to order off the menu. Our service was good and I had no complaints in this area. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant. Our bill was a little on the pricier side for breakfast. Oh well. Overall 3 stars for breakfast and an A-OK rating. read more

We were so excited to go to deep lagoon seafood. It was our first outing since we had our baby 3 weeks ago. Matt P and I desperately needed a break. My in laws graciously agreed to watch our two kids under 3 and we made reservations for Deep lagoon seafood. However, when we got there, they did not abide covid restrictions.. As a doctor, this is unacceptable so we left.. I was so upset because we were all dressed up and literally no where to go. My husband suggested tarpon house because we were so close to sanibel. When we got there they had outdoor seating right on the water!!!! Everything was socially distanced and everyone wore masks unlike the previous establishment. Plus the view was AMAZING!!!! We split the calamari which was crispy, but not greasy and seasoned perfectly. I got the grouper sandwich which was HUGE!!! Also the staff was constantly sanitizing everything. The food, the view, the service, all five stars. I felt like I was on vacation even though I was 20 minutes from home. Love this place. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel restaurant. We came in with fresh dry clothes from the pool. Had a nice spacious indoor table for four. Pam was our server. She was attentive and friendly. The lobster Mac appetizer was a great small plate size. The portion of lobster was worth noting - had several wonderful bites! I had the grouper sandwich ans it was cooked perfectly. I had to ask another waitress 3 times to get us water and the starters. The restaurant was not too busy so I'm not sure why our server never checked on us. Great views but, really bad service that takes away from the kitchen. The "bad service " is not do to bring understaffed or that is crowded ( which was not --much less than half). They're just very young and act more like fast food attendant than a Marriott resort. This staff dropped a tray with drinks a few tables away from us and apologized but, then proceeded to laugh were we can hear them making fun of the lady that got the drinks spilled on. The prices are at the higher end with small portions. They'll bring you the bill before the meal arrives, and good luck getting the waiting staff back after you signed it. I would recommend to go off premises for dinner. read more

This place is terrible!!! Super disappointed by Marriott, the quality here is very bad. I had dinner here with my mom on 3/24/21, we had to wait a long time to get service. Once we did, my cocktail was served with a hair in it. That was was telling to the rest of the dinner we were about to have. My mom ordered the fish tacos, very bland, almost cold and the side salad she got was served with dried on old food stuck to the bowl (picture attached). My Marriott Cheeseburger was ok, the burger was fine, the sweet potato fries were cold. The tables around us also seemed annoyed at the wait times. Would not come back. read more

I've enjoyed this establishment many times for its holiday buffets. I typically chose it simply for the view as there are several buffets in the area that are better frankly. Tarpon has pretty much the same stuff as the others just a lot less of it and less variety to things like their charcuterie section. Their dessert selection leaves a lot to be desired. Although they have the standard traditional holiday pies, etc. it just seems obvious that they're going from freezer to plate. Although we know everyone elses is too, it shouldn't look obvious, cheap, and lazy. My biggest issue is their reservations. It took me 3 weeks of calling daily, at different times of the day to different numbers to get a reservation for Thanksgiving! In this whole big resort, no one answers the phone or calls back when you leave a message. Unreal. No view is worth that. read more

We ate here 3 nights in a row and it was very nice! The waitress we had. Chantress, was outstanding! So personable and lively and attentative! The view of the water was lovely! See attached photos! We saw the sun go down and had a beautiful sunset all nights during our dinner! The Boom Boom shrimp appetizer is delicious and the fried cauliflower appetizer was excellent! The drawers were good too! My kids loved the game room/arcade just downstairs which gave us some peace and quiet as well! The grounds and pool area are nice! We also had the buffet breakfast here as well and the omelette guy was wonderful! First omelette guy I saw since before Covid!! Masks were not required anywhere which was extremely nice! I've stayed at this hotel many times, but not since 2007. In the past this restaurant was very good, with excellent food and drinks. They used to have a delicious key lime pie. Now it all looks and tastes like pre-made Sysco food that is also sold in the college I work at's dining hall. The staff and servers are very good and helpful, and the view if you can sit outside is terrific but the food is very average and quite expensive for what you get. read more

I have a number of food allergies, severe enough that I carry a printed list with me at all times, so if I go to a restaurant I can provide the list to the chef (and I carry an epipen for emergencies). Last night at Tarpon House, I provided the list to the waiter, and he came back suggesting from the chef what would be safe (in this case, burger and small side salad - $18) When the meal arrived, not only did the burger have a tomato on it (tomato is on the list) , but my small side salad had both tomatoes and carrots (both on the list). I would much rather have a restaurant say "I'm sorry, but our preparation methods can't support your dietary needs" ( I'm totally ok with being told that!) vs being served food that could make me sick, or worse. I will not eat anything else prepared in that kitchen . read more

We recently ate at this restaurant at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott and it was excellent. Our waitress Kelly was extremely nice, accommodating, had a great sense of humor, and was really engaged. My wife had the miso chicken and I had the fish tacos. Both entrées were good. The atmosphere was very nice as we had a great view of the sunset. At long last! After searching for a nice place to have a meal and a drink on the water in the greater Fort Myers area, we finally found it here. A delightful lunch, on the balcony, overlooking the pool and a completely unobstructed view of the Gulf. Spectacular! Even spotted dolphins about 20 yards offshore. Absolutely nothing not to like here. We drive up to the main entrance, greeted by their friendly staff, "we're here for lunch" I proclaim, "fantastic, please enjoy our complimentary valet parking" is the reply. No schlepping around to find a parking spot - they've got it covered. We cross the beautiful hotel lobby, with stunning views of the Gulf and again, greeted warmly at the Tarpon House and seated promptly. Our waiter, Costin, was a lot of fun, extremely professional and provided a clinic on table service. Superb. We had the Lobster Roll and Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos. Both delicious. Large succulent chunks of fresh Lobster in a light mayo, celery salad. The Shrimp and the boom boom sauce were perfect - just the right amount of boom. The entire experience was exceptional - great food, great service and a great view. The best Gulf view in the area. Can't wait to go back. read more

I apologize for this length review. I read a number of reviews and looked at the website with the advertised menu (it differed from the actual menu we were given) and thought this would be an upper scale restaurant. It is located within the Marriott Property and having traveled and stayed with Marriott on numerous occasions I have experienced great restaurants within the chain. On the website it states that the Tarpon House opens at 5pm and takes reservations. I called 3 weeks prior to reserve a table for 7 and was informed that they do not take reservations. I explained that there were 7 guests for a 60th birthday party and some were from out of town. The person I talked to said to arrive about 4:45 pm and should be able to get a great table with view for 5pm. We arrived at 4:45pm to find out that they don't open at 5:00pm. I went to the guest services and they said it was 6pm. Seems that nobody knows what time they open so we went to the bar and I kept checking. So at 5:30pm they do indeed open and because of the outside temp (in the 90's and a few older adults) we chose to stay inside with a cooler atmosphere. I asked for a table with a view close to the window to look out over the water. The table that was setup for our party of 7 was not near a window and not a view at all. Once seated (not the most comfortable seats) the menus were already placed on the table and shortly after the server introduced herself and took our drink orders. Within a few minutes it was noticed that our table ended up being in a high traffic area for servers back and forth from the kitchen area. When I first visited the website and a couple of others did as well the menu we were given differed drastically. There was a larger selection of main courses and this one was very limited in main courses if you wanted more than a burger. We decided to have a few appetizers to start and chose to have the Boom Boom Shrimp ($14.50), Thai Spring Rolls ($13.50), and the Shrimp Flatbread Special ($11.00). We were told that the appetizers were almost ready and if we wanted we could order our main course and we did. There were 3 dinner Caesar salads ordered ($3.00 each) and 3 daily soups which were seafood chowder ($8.50 each). The meals consisted of 2 chicken carbonara ($29.00 each), seafood diavolo ($32.00), 12 oz New York Strip ($39.00), 1 Pork chop ($31.00), chicken chow chow ($29.00), 1 drunken grouper ($34.00). The appetizers showed up shortly after our order was taken and I couldn't help but notice that it looked more like a kids happy meal. I'll start with the boom boom shrimp which were served in a red plastic basket that a kids meal would be served in. There were a pretty good amount of shrimp on the smaller size and pretty spicy. Price should have been $6.00-8.00 The Shrimp Flatbread Special was actually a 10" round tortilla shell (you can buy tortillas in a grocery store that taste better) with a light cheese and shrimp (found 2 pieces of shrimp) and slight avocado placed in a few areas. This was not flatbread that any of us have ever experienced. Flatbread that I and others have been served at many other establishments was exactly that a flatbread (maybe half of a sub roll or baked bread) It was rather tasteless and I would say way overpriced. Price $3.00 at best This leaves the Thai Spring Rolls which I have had at many other restaurants and usually you get 4 or 6 rolls with dipping sauce. First of all there were only 2 (yes that's right two) about 1inch in diameter and 5 inches long. They looked like they were from a box you can buy in a grocery store and had been heated in a microwave. If the menu stated that there were only 2 for $13.50 I would expect them to be at least 3 inches round and 6-8 inches long. Price should have been $5.00 and even that would be overpriced. So we were all a little disappointed and awaited our main course with an open mind. The Caesar salads were ok with a mix of fresh and brown leafs and the soup was tasty. The chicken carbonara was very average in fact the people who ordered it said that Olive Garden was better and half the price. Seafood Diavolo was more linguine noodles than seafood and was very bland. The New York steak was flavorful but very overpriced for what was included. I have had a New York steak that was better at a mom and pops restaurant for half the price. The pork chop (1 pork chop) was burned and very dry and not very flavorful. The drunken grouper was mediocre with very little flavor and on the small size. The chicken chow chow was a round ball ( I have never seen a round chicken) so I expect it was just pieces balled up and breaded. In closing this review I for one will not return or suggest this restaurant, I think management is lacking and that there is no food quality or tasting that occurs by chefs or management. Maybe we should have just had the burgers but then I would have gone to a burger restaurant. read more

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience at Tarpon House. This restaurant is the "middle of the road" restaurant at this resort. The steakhouse is the "high end" and the pizza place is the "low end" as far as pricing is concerned. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating and also doubles as the breakfast area for the Marriott. The fish specials were excellent. I had the grouper and my wife had the scallops. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. The service was also outstanding...I think we were one of two groups in the restaurant since it was pretty late so I may be biased, however our waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us with our wine selection. He was quick to check on us after our first few bites and knew his job...I am always impressed when the wait staff memorizes the specials and takes pride in their job. We've had breakfast and dinner. I travel quite a bit, and for 20 bucks - this is the best hotel buffet around. Fresh cooked eggs (can you do them soft and creamy not overdone at all? Yes he can) cheeses, lox, even turkey sausage. Quite nice. For dinner, we had special wants. I wanted my pork chop Medium rare - no problem. Came out perfectly cooked and juicy. I wanted any other veg besides potatoes - they brought asparagus and broccolini. Lovely. My guy was craving seafood pasta in a cream sauce. So they without question put a cream sauce instead of marinara. It's a limited menu, but we've not been disappointed, and it is priced better than any hotel restaurant. I would eat here even if not staying here. And, great view. read more
