Maybe it's hubs' military background, but the man is all about strategy. His game plan was to figure out the perfect dinner spot where we could catch an epic Sanibel sunset, then still have enough time to roll over for a hallmark view of the July 4th fireworks. Mission accomplished. Lighthouse Waterfront is huge with a big dining rm on one side and another section closer to the left overlooking the outdoor deck sitting right on the water. If you're chasing sunset vibes, this deck is where it's at. We started with a dozen meaty oysters and a hot crab dip with crispy wontons to dip. For our main plates, hubs ordered the thick-cut bone-in pork chop and loved it while I went with the seasoned grilled swordfish. I had the Dubai Chocolate cocktail and I'll give them props for that pistachio rim and the dark chocolate drizzle.....that Hershey's syrup crap. The only downside was it could've packed a punch. But then again- between my recent trip to Miami/Ft Lauderdale and now Sanibel...I haven't had a drink that would know the shit out me here. No offense. Anyhow, to wrap things up, we shared a slice of key lime pie. That's basically mandatory when you're down here. It was good, but honestly, the real treat was watching that Sanibel sunset. Service was ok- I just wished our young server was more present. On the plus side, when he'd showed up, he made sure to help at any given moment. We finished dinner, headed out to the deck and soaked in every second of the sunset before making our way to catch the fireworks elsewhere. read more

So very disappointed. This used to be our favorite place to bring out of town guests. Not anymore. Where to start. 1)Our servers were amazing. 2) Drinks - pathetic. $16.00 for a lime martini that tasted like a melted popsicle and was a total of 6 oz. Tasted no alcohol. 3) crab dip a 3 inch skillet of carb dip with 10 small pita chips. No taste at all and $19.00. 4) shrimp with garlic and butter over linguini - it was basically pho soup. $28.00. 5) and the best of all. Lobster Mac n cheese. It was macaroni with (I kid you not) seafood bisque over top and a small ramekin of Parmesan cheese $50.00. The man playing music (nice island vibe) in the corner was so loud I could not hear my husband across the table. In fact most asked to move to the other side but it was closed off or outside because it was so loud. Did I mention it was 95 degrees. 5 or so parties were seated after us, and while we were not at all in a hurry, every one of them received their meals prior to us and left before we received our food. Our server felt bad so she offered us some bread for the extra wait. (Shouldn't that be standard). We didn't complain and paid the over $150.00 bill plus a nice tip and the 3% charge for using a card. No manager came to ask how the meal was and at this point we were over it. Asked for a take home box and left. I can also tell you the menu was extremely limited. No crab dishes, no scallop dishes? A seafood restaurant not anymore? What happened? New management, owners? And yes we've been there since IAN so can't blame the hurricane. We will only visit Lobster Lady from now on. I sound like I just want to complain but I don't. I know it's off season and don't ever expect perfection. This was worse than horrible. Beware. It's not what it once was. Sadly! We go to the Lighthouse every vacation and sometimes we go a couple of times. It was so disappointing our last visit. We went on a Saturday so I could get prime rib. I guess it's no longer on the menu. I got a rib eye instead. It wasn't good at all. Tough and dry and burnt on the outside. My daughter got a filet that was supposed to be med rare but instead came out well done. I'm not sure we'll be going back next vacation. read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way back from Sanibel Island. Very nice place. Plenty of seating inside. We were able to get a table outside (took a little wrangling). Food was excellent. This is a beautiful restaurant on the water. It was crowded and they don't take reservations. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed the live music. The dynamite shrimp is awesome as were the oysters. The lobster risotto is incredible and the best I've ever had. I got the crab stuffed unicorn fish. It was also very good. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place was fantastic! The food was all delicious! I got the tuna poke and it was quite filling. Yes it is listed as an appetizer, but I believe it can be a meal for one. The tuna was fresh and so good. My only suggestion is somehow they need to make a bigger parking lot. So many want to come to this restaurant because it is one of the best. read more

What a beautiful waterfront restaurant. We were seated along the windows overlooking the gorgeous deck and water. If it had been warm we souls gave sat outside. We decided to have an appetizer, then the grilled jumbo shrimp dinner. It cones with one side do I paid extra for the asparagus. It was di relaxing that I decided to have one of their specialty drinks. I chose the Sunset Punch fit my drink and their Lighthouse Bruschetta for the appetizer. The bruschetta is so fresh and delicious. My drink was not only beautiful but very refreshing and delicious. My shrimp was grilled to perfection, my sweet potato was very yummy and I liked their whipped cinnamon butter on it. They also brought out a list of freshly baked bread which was so very light and delicious. For dessert my hubby and I shared a slick of key lime pie. So very smooth and tasty. The service was excellent, quality of food was excellent . We shall return. FYI regarding the check they automatically add a 3 percent fee into your total for a credit card. Music by Steve, and Eric & Rose livens up the place, more people dancing than I ever saw before last time i was there. Recommendation: One Thursday or Friday a month, from Dec - April, Lighthouse should have a "Ladies Night" with discounted drinks and music. We came as a group of 5. I ordered the Unicorn fish (fish of the day) served artichoke piccata style with broccoli. The BROCCOLI- I can't tell you what the garlic? or was it truffle? topping was but it was amazing!!! And the lobster bisque stole the show with how buttery it was. I'm extremely disappointed. My family and I have been going here for years and it's gotten terrible the last couple of years. It was my last day on vacation yesterday so my parents took me out for a nice dinner and everyone's food was horrible. I got a filet and they overcooked it was extremely well done and tasted nasty, they did remake it for me but it still did not taste good at all, there was so much pepper and burnt spots it was a waste of $55. My mom got a steak and she also did not like hers at all either, it was overcooked but not as much as mine was and the seasonings completely ruined the flavor. I got a bowl of lobster bisque and I told my self last year I wouldn't give it another chance but I did. They put it in the biggest bowl and barely put any soup in the bowl. I swear I maybe got 3 bites for $10- absolutely ridiculous. The bill was nearly $300 and we were extremely disappointed and I don't know if we will ever come back. The only thing worth going for is the view but they really need to step it up when it comes to the product of the food. Venturing out beyond our normal restaurant radius we gave the lighthouse Waterfront restaurant a go. In an area we driven by numerous times not sure how we missed the giant sign pointing the way this restaurant. Arriving around happy hour, we walked in to a lively bunch of locals enjoying the live music being played. Waiting to be seated as the service staff was hustling about serving the local patrons. A nice lady at the bar saw us patiently waiting to be seated, she said just go find a seat, I'm sure someone will come find you. I sat my wife outside next to the Punta Rassa Bay. As I grabbed a few menus from the hosted pedestal and began the menu search. Nice selection of happy hour deals, we decided on an Escargot and Lobster Bisque. Only a few minutes of waiting the waiter found us and took our order. Continued with Steak and a Pasta dish, all of the appetizers and entrees were delicious and delightful. The Bloody Mary was a generous pour and The wine was refreshing. We had a great date enjoying the ambiance, service and watching boats dock as patrons headed inside for a great experience. The meal (Lighthouse Seafood Stew) was very flavorful with just enough spice. However, the menu states 4 shrimp, 4 scallops, 4 mussels. I got short changed. There was plenty of fish, though. Warm sourdough bread was delicious. Quite loud due to design, bar and live music. Get there early. read more

I have been to "the Lighthouse" many times since we moved to Ft. Myers, Florida 11 years ago. The unique thing about the restaurant that I LOVE, is they don't take reservations. So if we have company and want a really nice meal overlooking the bay, we can just zip down. It is a good size establishment, so we have never had a long wait. It is a fun place at dinner time. The restaurant was renovated a few years ago and it definitely has a beach area vibe, and live music. There is inside or outside seating, it is definitely one of my "go to" restaurants! read more

6 of us visited you Sunday night and sat on your Lanai. Food was great, Kita was a good server but your lanai was infested with no-see-ums. We were eaten alive which ruined the ambiance and great evening with our Michigan friends. You may want to spray or bomb your location to give your guests a better experience. I have never been more surprised by what generally considered a decent restaurant. I've been going to the Lighthouse for almost 10 years, Mostly for the music, bar scene and light appetizers. I have eaten full meals at the restaurant at times and generally been pleased. But something has happened in the last year or so. After dining a few times recently, it's hard for me to express my disappointment for how far this place has fallen. We had several items returned or taken off the bill for various valid reasons. That happens, no one's perfect. But. Never in my life have I been served fresh oysters (supposedly) that were rinsed in freshwater and returned to their shell. Never. Tasteless! I have no clue why anyone would do that. Who knows what else they're doing behind the scenes to doctor their food. Unbelievable. I will never enter that door again. read more

My mom and I tried out Lighthouse Waterfront Restaurant for a beachy seafood dinner during Mother's Day weekend in Fort Myers. The restaurant offers a nice view of the water and boats, but surprisingly, it was quite quiet for a Saturday night--possibly because the town is still recovering from recent hurricanes. The service, however, was excellent--super friendly and attentive. I ordered the jumbo shrimp plate, and it was fantastic--eight perfectly cooked, juicy shrimp served with crispy, well-seasoned fries. Unfortunately, my mom wasn't too happy with her white-style mussels. The sauce was too sweet and thick, which didn't complement the mussels well. While the prices were on the higher side, the overall vibe and service made up for it. read more
