They had bought us out a few little nuggets that was supposed to be fish planks ! Never been so upset with a restaurant in all my life and the price was terrible for the little food we received!! Will never go back again to that restaurant!!!

Great local eatery with a warm, welcoming staff & delicious food!…read more We tried their burger & onion rings, as well as the Club sandwich and tater tots. Food: My fiance enjoyed his burger and loved the onion rings. I got the club sandwich which came on warm Texas toast with heaping piles of ham & turkey, and fresh crispy bacon. I liked that they put some sort of creamy Italian dressing vs mayo on it - was a unique twist! The tater tots were PHENOMENAL - they must have been deep fried because they were super crispy and hot. The burger & onion rings meal was very affordable (~$8-9). The club sandwich & tots was a bit pricey for what it was (closer to $12) but was a packed sandwich so I can't complain. Service: Service was stellar - our waitress checked on us several times and we had everything we needed the entire meal! Including a never ending cup of coffee. Location: The place is smaller with less than 10 tables but still spacious enough where you don't feel cramped. During COVID wait-staff wore masks (& wore them properly over the nose) so I felt very comfortable eating here. It's a bit hard to find --- GPS will try to take you down to the funeral home. Keep an eye out for the railroad tracks and look for a corner restaurant near there - that's where you'll find Charly's!

The local health food market is a quite majestic building; it's not far from the old downtown area…read more These characteristics are atypical of such stores (of which I have patronized many), which are usually in the sticks. I did find the prices high, if not unexpectedly so in most cases. I did find strange variation in sale items; some were substantial discounts, while in another case I saw a roughly $8 item "on sale" for twenty cents off, which seems bordering on a sort of unethical deception. The selection of produce was not huge but looked nice; this being Knoxville they had more meat than plants it seemed. Various natural and organic brands popped up. I always try to support the local businesses and I got a few things. This does seem to have a co-op structure so locals who really want to be in regularly might consider buying in.

Huge fan of this Happy Holler staple. Has such a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free,…read moredairy-free, and straight from the local farm/vendor goods. The best part, the price is pretty competitive with grocery stores in the area. There is a hot/cold bar to grab lunch and sit in the indoor dining area or outside on their shaded patio. They also have a huge variety of grab-and-go pastas, wraps, salads, and sandwiches and a coffee bar with all the fixin's. The above is all awesome, but I head in here for the bulk items. Have a small amount of a rarely-used spice needed for a recipe? CHECK. Want to grind some fresh almond butter or coffee? GOTCHA COVERED. Dried fruits? YUP! (dried papaya are my family fave). Variety of healthy granolas, grains, and baking items in bulk, too. There is easy parking with their own little lot, friendly service, a discount membership program ($25 per year), and a punch card discount when you use reusable bags. Can't wait to come back.

This is the restaurant nestled inside of Buckhorn Lake State Resort. Just like many other state…read morepark restaurants, it's downstairs and overlooks the lake. I was staying the long weekend at the lodge and found myself here on three separate occasions. I must say, that even though it's similar to the other state park lodge restaurants that I've been to, it's not as large. But it has the same ambiance as the rest, sort of 1970ish. The food and serve were good, so I really shouldn't complain. The first time, I ordered the chicken strip meal, which came with my choice of two sides. I chose a baked potato and onion rings. The onion rings were some of the best that I've ever had. They were perfectly breaded and fried. The baked potato was ok, not the best that I've ever had, but sour cream and butter were provided. The chicken strips were excellent and everything was piping hot. I must admit, I was eying my husbands southwest wrap though, so as late dinner, we headed back anticipating dessert, but we ended up splitting a wrap. The waitress split it for us, she brought it out on two separate plates. It was so good! The last time that we visited, I ordered a salad and asked for the chicken to be buffaloed, it had a kick, almost too hot for me. I made it through, thanks to the basket full of crackers to help sop up the heat in my burning mouth. One thing that surprised me, only because we were there during off season, was everything was fresh. Each time that we were there, very few other people dining there. We had the same waitress each time. She was always on point, sweet and called us "Hun" maybe twenty times. During off seasons, this place is only open certain times and certain days of the week. The time that we were was during winter, and it was open Friday-Sunday, closing on Sunday at 4pm.

This is by far the worse of the state park lodge restaurants. The menu is is very limited compared…read moreto the other parks and the food is poorly executed. Food was served cold and service was all but non existent. The park is beautiful but you are sorta held hostage by the location and driving distance to outside sources of food. The sad part is it was not always this way.
