Whole Tilapia with jollof rice and plantains
    La'star B.

I got the whole tilapia with jollof rice and plantains. The Food was not the best African food i've ever had the rice was hard like it may have been old and reheated the fish was spicy and good but tilapia isn't the healthiest fish to eat but it was the only fish they sold. The plantains were a little dry also

The food here was so delicious. Definitely a hidden gem, don't be turned away by the small setting, as it means you will get quick service. I got some tilapia, and jollof rice with meat pies. All of it was delicious and great.

Wanted to try a small business out plus love African food when I got here lady was on the phone the whole time I was here even while taking my order Was very rude when asked what type of stew she had I was told "just stew" very disappointed fufu was grainy and not smooth , beef was okay only came with one small pieces for 9.99

Pallet and boxes in the dining area.

4:41pm. I am starting my review while sitting here waiting on food. The inside is very boring and the lady who took my order has no personality or customer service. And I couldn't hear her when she talked so I had to keep asking what did she say.‍ (still waiting). 4:47pm. 4:49pm.. still waiting. I notice they have a buffet behi the register, however the foil pans are empty.. 5:54pm The lady says it's ready in a low tone‍ with her back turned. There are pallets in the dining area so I'm not sure why. So, now to the food... The fish was warmed in the microwave. (It's rubbery). The rice is consistently hot throughout. And the plantains are fresh and good. I took some of the rice and put it on the plantains. And threw the fish away! So, three stars.

    Egusi beef w/ fufu

Every once and awhile you'll find a random courier on Uber Eats that is nearby a restaurant that is nowhere near you. I kept seeing people eat fufu on tiktok. I had to try it after seeing it on my tiktok 100 times. I quickly ordered when I seen Taste Afrik pop up on the UE app. I ordered the egusi beef with fufu. I also ordered the chicken with jollof rice. All for me. I'm not exactly how to describe what I ate. The fufu is like the texture of mashed potatoes. Traditionally, you use your fingers and eat the egusi that way. That is what I did while jumping up and down in my kitchen over how good this was. So good. So much flavor. The chicken was good and spicy. The jollof rice was a little bland compared to the rest. Amazing.

So 1st off I guess I should have read the reviews before I came here. You're absolutely correct. The waitress or cook or whoever she is, is rude as hell!!!! f I called order in and wanted fufu, efo and goat. But when I arrived I had tripe and 1 miniscule piece of goat. She said it's assorted meat & that's how the goat comes. Told her that's not what I asked for. She then says it would be an extra $4.50 for more goat. And that's on top of the $18.50 I already paid!! Are you crazy??? I'll never be back...

Dude. This place is amazing!! Super friendly staff. Had a flyer on my car last might and saw they had a goat burger. Had to head there asap!! They only do the burger on the weekends after 2. So I got the grilled goat and veggies instead. The jollof (fried rice) is so good! The goat is spicy just the way I like it. And they throw in a free bottle of water. If you havent gone. Please do. Not gonna lie, the inside of the restaurant doesn't smell too appealing, but the food is amazing. They're also hosting a sale of African attire on the 10th of December. Plus they have board game night at the restaurant as well. Think that's pretty cool. I will definitely be back!

They add onions, tomatoes, and green peppers. I am really impressed! It is definitely authentic suya. Their shawarma is also bomb! The flavors burst in your mouth from the first bite. They don't sacrifice quality for quantity. The portions are satisfying. I come from North Dallas to Grand Prairie all the time. It's that good! You won't be disappointed!

During my last visit, I ordered ahead and it took me about 25 minutes drive, which wasn't too bad. The person who took my order was nice, which was a pleasant surprise compared to what I expected. I ordered two portions of suya and two shawarmas, costing a bit over $40. The shawarma was okay in size, but it didn't really stand out. It satisfied my cravings, but nothing more. Now, the suya was a letdown. It had too much oil and lacked that real suya flavor. The taste of curry was too strong, overshadowing the authentic suya taste. Plus, there were way too many onions compared to the meat. I'd rate the suya a 4 out of 10 for the effort. On the other hand, the shawarma, though of an average size, was pretty tasty. It was spicy, so you'll need a drink to handle the heat. I'm giving a three-star rating for both the food and the service, also appreciating that they're open on Sundays. I've tried suya and shawarma in many places around the DFW area, and I think this place can do better. If they work on improving the spice mix for the suya and balance out the meat and onions, it would make a big difference and bring them up to the level of other spots in the area.

And last but not least the bread---completely spongy and airy, great sourdough like taste, Service and friendliness of staff definitely made you feel at home. The worst problem with this place is it's in Arlington and we're from Frisco. But we all agreed to make the hour trip for the next birthday in our family group. Just simply outstanding.

Each dish had unique use of Ethiopian inspiration, especially the nachos I had. The platter is huge and there is no way one person can finish it. The chips are Ethiopian toast points and added a crunch that was delightful. The ribs were cooked perfectly. They did not fall off the bone which we like. They are true competition ribs allowing you to nibble off the bone. Granddaughter loved the flavor and juicy quality of her brisket! I'm giving the restaurant 3 stars because we had to wait for our food for over an hour. The wait staff were a bit indifferent to our order and had to be reminded twice our order was not complete. The restaurant was not that busy prompting me to believe there is a disconnect between the front and back of the house. The restaurant is in a strip center in Arlington. It's a comfortable little restaurant and bar and the adult beverages looked delicious!!
