EGUSI W/ FUFU & ASSORTED MEATS

After seeing so many videos on TikTok about Egusi and Fufu I wanted to try some too! I saw that Angie Winners Kitchen had one of the highest ratings around so I gave them a shot. The ratings did not lie, the food I got was very good! I ordered the Egusi (w/ Assorted Meats) and Fufu togo. I would describe the Fufu as a thicker mashed potato that you can mold/shape to dip into things. The Eugsi is a very flavorful "stew" that goes really well with the Fufu. The one complaint I have would be the price. I paid $25 + tax for what I received.

The food was very good. This is my first time having Ghanaian food but it came out hot and full of flavor. The dishes are a bit spicy, but we still enjoyed. The restaurant has fans on each table - it does get a little warm. The service was iffy for us. When we first walked in it seemed like they didn't want to be bothered. We asked to where we could sit. Then after a few minutes we went to the counter and asked for menus. They did come over to ask what we wanted to order but we did not know anything about the menu. However, once Angie came to the table she was great. Explained everything and we felt comfortable ordering and it was great. We will return. We had equsi, jollof rice, banku and plantains.

Angie Winners Kitchen at 2905 E Arkansas Ln #100, Grand Prairie, TX 75051 Definitely authentic food from West Africa. Just like when I sat down and ate food in Ghana they take their time and they cook it with love and precision. The care they put in cooking the food you can taste it in every bite. The atmosphere inside is very family-oriented and it really makes me feel like I'm back in Ghana Just don't look outside and it'll feel the same. Now the parking here is the only thing questionable. When it's busy it's going to be hard getting the space but there is parking around the area. Just have to walk ‍a little. Just remember you're getting authentic food so please be patient. Enjoy what you are about to be able to consume from a great continent of Africa

The staff was inviting and nice, I ordered Jollof Rice and chicken and the kids got puff puff and some rice and salad. I must say the chicken is hands down the best I have had in the metroplex. Small business located right off 360 for great access. Go check this place out!!

This was my first time attending this facility. I tried this place because scrolling late at night in Facebook all you see is okra soup and fufu. So I had to cave into my late night cravings. The food was delicious and the customer service was spectacular. I love and enjoy the authenticity of this restaurant. I love how they express their love for their culture and country. I love a restaurant that sticks to their roots when it comes to using the seasoning designed for their food. 10 out of 10. Beautiful vibrant setting with positive vibes. Only real Winners eat here. Thank you for allowing me into your home and allowing me to enjoy your peoples good and culture

Top 2 and not Number 2! This was my family's first time trying Ghanaian food, but they also have other west African dishes on the menu. It was so good we came back on the weekend. The owner is such a wholesome person she's really good with customers. Makes you feel like you were invited to her home to eat. I would definitely suggest anyone looking to try west African cuisine to come.

Aperitif of sorts. Great for digestion and heart health. With hibiscus and ginger as well as other beneficial herbs and ingredients!

My girl Angie is a winner for real! (I guess she got the name right) Customer service: outstanding!!! Food freshness and flavor: outstanding-ER!!!! When I tell you this food is delicious, real, raw (not undercooked, but really bare bones Ghanaian deliciousness), and HOT to trot! Angie has really done her thing and has blessed hands for sure! Angie herself has worked the register each time I have come. She makes suggestions based on your taste and experience level with West African cuisine, and has the joke and personality to make anyone feel welcomed! Don't let TikTok fool you and thing that Egusi and fufu is the only staple of west African cuisine. The groundnut soup with chicken and pounded plantain is TO DIE FOR! That was the first dish I got. Then, I had the beef stew with pounded yam with a side of beans and side of spinach, ohhhh my lorddddd! And my friend got Egusi with chicken and pounded yam, I was eating and sopping up all the goodness from her plate too! I wanted to go back today, literally woke up wi the the craving and she is CLoSEd on SUNDAys! Much to my dismay! Angie, I will be back for you. Over and over! You have made a customer out of me!!!!

Very rude over the phone after asking what items are popular and what style of cooking they use.

Very rude over the phone. I called to inquire about their foods, the country origin/style of cooking, and most popular dishes. Apparently my simple inquiries annoyed the woman who answers the phone and she dismissed me by saying "How about you go on our website and see what we have and call back". Mind you - I was already on their site ans cross referencing Yelp while on the call. I'll never patronize a place with this type of arrogant and condescending staff.

Fufu with egusi soup and fish

I ordered uber eats and the food tasted amazing. Now the spices in the jollof was a bit much for me so I couldn't eat too much but it was very tasty. That was my first time trying egusi and I like it. This was my second time trying a restaurant like this. I think my first experience was a Nigerian restaurant in Grand Prairie and it made me and my friend sick. Angie Winners Kitchen is the truth. I will definitely order from them again.

Goat meat stew, Fufu, Pounded Yam

The young man at the register, the young lady as our server and the owner/chef were all professional, kind and helpful. It was my mine and my friends first time trying Egusi, Fu Fu, Jollof rice, goat meat and we were very impressed. Food was hot, well spiced and filling. Even after we ate, we stayed at the table talking and enjoying the vibe. Great experience! Thanks Ms. Angie :)

Efo with chicken and pounded yam. Meat pie. All very delicious!

I forgot so about the card until someone asked me if I used food delivery companies. I loved them in the past but had some odd experiences. Nevertheless since I was in TX and not familiar with any of the local restaurants I decided to pick food the person I was with had never tried. After researching several options I landed on this place. I ended up ordering several items so I could get the person to try a variation and so I could get a good idea of their approach and how they prepare specific dishes. Especially in the DFW area. I'm American but have worked in parts of Africa in the 90s and lived in NY and the DC areas. I'm from CA and it took much longer for West African food products to make it west. I ordered over $200 worth of options. The pricing made me change my mind on 3 different occasions on separate days over 2 weeks. I then justified by thinking, that if the portions are fair I food freeze items and/or eat leftovers a few times with the spices marinating and getting better. Overall, I was very pleased. I've attached a photo of my receipt and food. I wish they had placed more of the spicy pepper paste being that in every note, I wrote spicy or extra spicy and there wasn't an option for condiments. Some of the pieces of meet in the dishes were sparse or just the fat. The pieces of goat in the curry, egusi, and okra could have been cooked longer but the flavor of all three dishes was delicious. The person who had the food for the first time enjoyed the spices but their expressions when asking questions related to each item, were hard to decipher. They don't have a mature palid and stick to what they like (bad food) for over 50 yrs. When I brought habaneros to cook with, they had no clue what they were, even though their mexican salsas said habanero was in it but the peppers on the bottles were not habaneros. The added rice with the dishes was very good even though I bought the jollof rice as well. Having both was smart. Again. I wish I had more African pepper paste The person I was with LOVED THE PLANTAINS.. T wasn't surprised. They were ripend and cooked to perfection. I had to hide them so when more food was being tasted the focus would be on the others. I was right about having leftovers and nothing went to waste.I even served the rice with fish dishes I prepared later in the week. Yes, I would choose this restaurant again!!! However, I think I'm going to drive there and order to see if the portions are the same and if I'm saving any money. Oh, I forgot to mention that the restaurant did and excellent job of packaging the food abs placed all bags and containers in a box. There was only one container that had saran wrap that leaked due to it being squashed and cracked. The way it was wrapped.. saved the dish!!!

I for sure got that. Egusi was amazing. It came out steaming hot. It was painful waiting a few minutes for the food to cool down because I wanted to eat it right away. So assume this may be a great place to watch sports and eat. Make sure to order an Indian Malta with your food. There was a wide variety of food selections on the menu. So it's a good idea to reviews the menu prior to coming. See images attached. I will be back for the awesome food.

During my last visit, I ordered ahead and it took me about 25 minutes drive, which wasn't too bad. The person who took my order was nice, which was a pleasant surprise compared to what I expected. I ordered two portions of suya and two shawarmas, costing a bit over $40. The shawarma was okay in size, but it didn't really stand out. It satisfied my cravings, but nothing more. Now, the suya was a letdown. It had too much oil and lacked that real suya flavor. The taste of curry was too strong, overshadowing the authentic suya taste. Plus, there were way too many onions compared to the meat. I'd rate the suya a 4 out of 10 for the effort. On the other hand, the shawarma, though of an average size, was pretty tasty. It was spicy, so you'll need a drink to handle the heat. I'm giving a three-star rating for both the food and the service, also appreciating that they're open on Sundays. I've tried suya and shawarma in many places around the DFW area, and I think this place can do better. If they work on improving the spice mix for the suya and balance out the meat and onions, it would make a big difference and bring them up to the level of other spots in the area.
