So Macon being a small city, I did not expect to find a gem. I loved their coffee. They make their syrups in house and I had one of their limited time drinks called dreamsicle latte. It was a perfect combination of orange syrup with white chocolate and coffee. All the drinks were balanced and would highly recommend. Parking is street parking so you do have to pay from Monday-Saturday I think. read more

Having been the owner of a cafe in the past, I understand how tight the margins are. But I find this extra charge for sweetener (unflavored) and cream very extreme and deceptive. The person at the counter asked me if I wanted milk and sugar. I said yes. I changed it to half and half at some point, but the order had already been created and I had paid already. I have confirmed that even if it was milk they still would have charged me this much. It really would have been nice to have been advised that there was an extra charge for each of these, because it really isn't customary. I'm an idiot for not looking a little closer before I swiped my phone. Also an idiot for falling into the trap of tipping before knowing what the service was going to be like. It's a cute place, but the deceptive practice will keep me from returning. read more

Ok for coffee and sweets. However, I will never have a lunch sandwich again there. Could not eat most of it. They don't know how to make a decent sandwich? Also, the city made a huge mistake in putting in meters. Never hardly go downtown with the problems they cause. Espresso isn't great, the crema dissolves quickly so you know the beans aren't freshly roasted (maybe I caught them on a bad day!) with that said the espresso is pretty good otherwise. I grew up in Macon but live in Maine now. I was back recently to visit family. One of my favorite activities is to try independent coffee shops whenever I travel. Taste and See was a nice find. The coffee was fantastic. My latte had great flavor and consistency. I also enjoyed all of the semi-private nooks for enjoying the coffee and conversation. Wow - I "needed" a place to perch, focus and get some writing done & was thrilled to find Taste & See! As others have mentioned, it feels like you're walking into some little spot in the Pacific Northwest b/c of the fireplace + decor. Absolutely intriguing hot drink choices, beyond lattes/cappuccinos, but they serve all those too. I was going to order a Peppermint Mocha coffee drink but switched it up w/ a London Fog. The LF is a tea-based drink: Earl Gray tea, frothed milk & vanilla syrup. Yum! What I also love here are all the different seating choices: open spaces with leather couches & then tables with walls in between so you can have semi-private convos/study sessions and a door that opens to the outside alley, furnished with small tables. The primo seating is the wooden bar setup against the front window, to sit & watch Poplar Street action: blue, black & white SUVS, a purple-haired woman & her beau, fluffy white lap dogs and their people. I ended up talking to a guy from Canada with the BEST window seat. He's working his way down the Eastern U.S. coast from Nova Scotia to Mexico. I gave him some "must-dos when in Macon!" & he went on his merry way & I snagged that seat. Love having random conversations with people at coffee shops. Finally, this shop is advertised as a "Christian" coffee shop so sure there are "nods to God" here & there. But overall, Taste and See is a classic, comfy coffee spot for anyone! P.S. This is the most quant coffee shop I think I've ever been in! I wish we had something like this in my town because truly, I would live here. It has such ample seating, spaced out, which is amazing because I hate feeling like I'm sitting on top of someone when I'm at a coffee shop, and the best thing at all, it had really nice employees. The back of the shop is where you order. This trip I got an iced latte, nothing crazy, but I did see they had various food options too. At this time I didn't really have the time to sit, eat and sip on a coffee, although I wish I could have. The girl at the counter was super sweet, asked for my name on the order and told me where I could pick it up. She also made sure I was okay with the kind of milk she planned on putting in it (whole) which I was totally fine with. Within about two minutes I had my perfectly tasting iced latte and I was on my way. In an cute way, it seemed like everyone knew each other there. I saw customers talking to each other, being friendly and such. It just had a really great vibe to it. I really appreciated that and felt welcomed here. I wanted to love this place. The vibe was cool and people flocked to it. When I ask for coffee "for here" and you clearly have cups....don't put it in a to-go cup. Also blazing hot is not the temperature for a cortado. The intent is to have the coffee present itself and its aroma without being assaulted by boiling milk. The scone I had was cheddar and bacon but it was very salty....and I'm an add salt to everything kind of gal. This is probably the best coffee shop/place to study in the area. It located right in the middle of Macon's historic district area. So there's plenty of street parking available. The shop is really big with plenty of seating and areas to study, catch up with friends etc. I used to stop by Taste and See a couple times a week to grab an ice coffee or tea and get some work done. I like how they have comfy couches too, it helps create a relaxed environment. The employees are all really friendly too. read more

Went to Taste and See this afternoon to participate in the Middle GA coffee crawl. I had lots of orders with different payment methods and the staff handled everything so well and were so polite. Welp, I've been in this area with a few projects/filming and I have to say, service is mediocre, coffee crafting is ehhh, they just don't take pride in what they do and it shows. Breakfast sandwiches are good, if they don't run out of stuff to make them. That's my biggest issue with this location, they run out of EVERYTHING!! Most of the items are in high demand and tops sellers but when they are out. They are out for a week. Like can't you go get temps at Sam club or fresh market down the street. That's just bad business. Either way, hopefully they step up their game and stay on top of their ordering process so they don't keep running out of stuff every week! read more

If the coffee hadn't been as good as it was and had they not chosen to source locally I'd have given them several fewer stars. I was initially turned off by the cashier greeting me with, "I'll be right with you" and then disappearing. There were no other customers they were helping, they simply just ducked into a back room. Can't say what the barista was doing but apparently they're not allowed to take orders. When cashier returned without an explanation and a murmured apology I got my latte and espresso and each were good. Did not try any food. Came here for brunch with my mom and husband and I was impressed. We ordered a lot of different items because I wanted to get the full affect. I got liquid gold, gold rush, Mexican mud slinger, a cheese danish, lemon bar, and a couple of smoke wagon sandwiches. Everything was amazing. The Mexican mud slinger is definitely an acquired taste so I struggled with that one, but the coffee was great and the croissant on the sandwiches was so crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. I was happy with the cheese danish, it was sweet, but not overly so. The lemon bar was also really good, sweet, but tart like it should be. The ambiance is super relaxing . The barista turned on the fireplace for us and the artwork and overall atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. I can't wait to go back and maybe have a coffee and read a good book!! read more

I really liked this cute coffee shop in Macon! It's spacious, lots of charging stations with different types of seating suitable from 1 to 5 (or more people). There is outside seating. They sell pastries, huge cookies, tons of coffee, cheesecake and food options. The drip coffee wasn't my favorite but they had lots of other yummy options. Great service. Pay to park. Really interesting unique place. The decor reminds me of a ski lodge which is awesome because there is nothing else like that downtown. They even have a little room with a fire place. This is a nice coffee shop tucked away in between second and third street in downtown Macon. Let's start with parking; you can park anywhere on the street for free, which is great. However, there are a ton of homeless people walking around that may even shout at you from across the way. This scenario made me hesitant to want to go intro the shop. I went in and was pleased to see a plethora of outlets and tables open. They even have a nice little fenced off alley way with a fountain. It would've been a nice serene place to work but there was a concert going on in the town square across the street. The americano ($3) was spot on and did the job. The grilled cheese at 4 bucks was abbot over priced and a little under grilled for my taste. I would recommend coming here on a calmer day and maybe with a friend or two. The two employees were very nice and attentive. Overall, worth a visit and appreciate the space. read more

Taste and See Coffee Shop and Gallery is a Christian themed coffee shop and art gallery in downtown Macon. It offer the best cup of coffee in downtown in a family friendly environment. The coffee is the best in Macon (better than Roasted, Jittery Joes, or Starbucks), but is also the most expensive. The creative drinks (lattes, mochas, etc.) are excellently prepared and possess a unique twist compared to the competitors. The baked goods are generally good, but they are cooked in mass at one point and reheated in a microwave at the time of order. Sometimes they have a microwaved aftertaste that makes the price too much to purchase. The "Christian" aspect of the shop is most evident by the music playing in the background and the pray request book by the register, and a frequent visit will reveal the Christian hiring practices. In sum, this is an excellent coffee shop in downtown Macon. If you are looking for a place to study alone or with friends, it is an excellent venue. read more

I was just at your shop with a friend studying. We have been coming for a while and the service and food has always been great until today. I am a black female as well as my associate who was with me. We attend Middle georgia state university, who you partner with. We left and came back to study at the shop with some food from outside. The manager approached us with a very nasty and unprofessional attitude towards us. She made it clear that we could not have outside food in the shop. I completely understood that and started to pack up my lunch. She then continues to be rude and disrespectful by saying we were sneaking in the facility and she also proceeds to say that we cannot sit in there because it isn't a "public library". The way she said these things to us was so nasty and disrespectful. She then says that you all have bills to pay and so forth. She then proceeds to say we are stealing wifi when it clearly says "guest wifi". This is not everything she said but these are the things she said to us which really made it seem racially profiling. It was very embarrassing and saddening to be kicked out along with the rude things she said to us. I am very disappointed with her service. She did not give me a name. Anna was very respectful and had very great hospitality towards us. I really appreciated her hospitality but the manager was very disrespectful. I cannot express this enough. read more

They are an excellent coffee place. There is plenty of space to sit (inside most of it). It's decorated with professional photos which are for sale. The ambient is quiet, nice to study. They also have a room for small meetings. Their service is great, I think they are mostly college students. They have a good coffee and good selection of flavor coffees. They also have sandwiches and pastries. I have tried the pimento cheese sandwich, excellent. The 7 layer brownie is an excellent choice as well. It's a cute little place to come and study (or read a book or work). I really like the layout, and think it's a quintessential coffee house. I only came there for coffee. I ordered a black drip coffee with a shot of espresso. And, let me tell you...it was some of the best! Dark, full-bodied, nutty, and strong...all the best things wrapped in one. Was not bitter like typical Starbucks coffee, and was not watered down. True quality coffee. Taste and See is one of my go-to coffee shops in Macon. On my days off I come here just to unwind and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. It's a great place to curl up and read a book or study! I love the peaceful atmosphere with all the beautiful artwork (which you can purchase), and there's also an outdoor patio you can enjoy on warm (non-winter) days. Their coffee is fantastic quality. My favorites are the honey vanilla chai latte and the liquid gold. Although you may wait a little longer for your coffee than at Starbucks, it's totally worth the wait! You can tell the staff takes the extra time to make it taste GREAT. This place does have Christian themes as described in previous reviews, but it's not in-your-face. So I really think anyone could feel comfortable here! My only complaints are 1. the wi-fi can sometimes be REALLY slow or not work at all; 2. my order has been forgotten a couple different times; and 3. they are often out of food items that I want to order :( But overall, Taste and See is a wonderful addition to Macon's downtown area, and I really REALLY hope more places like it open up around here! read more
