One of the best places to get coffee and service is phenomenal. Need to get work done? Even better place. Ok you can't go wrong with the regular drip coffee but their lattes are great! The butterbeer latte is a great option. Shakes or smoothies or whatever the kids are calling it these days - Peanut Butter Buzz is it!! Pastry? Scones, bagels, and of course cinnamon rolls! They're all very good (make sure it's warmed or toasted) and sandwiches - order the chicken salad sandwich! Whoever makes their chicken salad needs to just bottle that up and sell it in the open market! It's great! Then unlike other coffee shops this place has Coke products! read more

I was jonezing for coffee and away from my favorite local haunts. Yelp to the rescue! There's always great coffee in a college town and Z Beans has it. I got a cold brew and grabbed a chicken salad croissant and hit the road home. Thanks for keeping my road rage monster at bay. read more

Terrible service. In the morning, there were no croissants. They offered biscuits instead. Instead of two biscuits, they made one, and when they brought the second one, it was half-frozen. Instead of four coffees, we received five. Both the coffee and the food were tasteless. I do not recommend it! read more

Upon a recent trip to Macon, GA during Covid19, I wasn't expecting to come across a gem such as Z Beans. Let's not mention the socially responsible mission of the shop to help the Ecuadorian coffee farmers support their community. Nor the incredibly moreish cinnamon rolls, warmed and perfecting dripping with icing (of which I had three over the course of week). And certainly not the white chocolate cranberry scone (recommend by the barista that day they were out of the rolls) which was so delicious I wish the trip had been longer. Let's also not highlight the young baristas who must have thought this obvious out-of-towner a total nut for chatting to the locals and being particularly indecisive about which farmer's beans to purchase. Let's focus on the coffee. The coffee was spectacular. The perfect aroma, body, temperature and taste. Everything about it was far superior to any Starbucks, Pete's or over priced independent coffee shop back in L.A. With easy parking, a great rustic yet modern vibe, I'll certainly be making a bee line for Z Beans the next time to go back to Macon. read more

If you're visiting Macon, you'd be better off going to Waffle House to get a cup of coffee. This is one of the worst coffee places I've seen it's filthy. The coffee tastes terrible. The workers are very unhelpful. I appreciate their mission, but they need better management, training, and people who know how to brew coffee. read more

My friend and I stopped in here on a road trip. She ordered a hot seasonal beverage and a breakfast burrito. I ordered a seasonal cold brew and a breakfast biscuit. When my friend ordered a 16 oz she was told "we are out of 16 oz cups so you have to order 20 oz." Actually no, you make 16 oz of drink and put it in a 20 oz cup. You should not force your customer to order a more expensive drink. The breakfast burrito was made with a street taco sized tortilla so it was about 2.5 inches long and not at all filling for my friend. My seasonal cold brew was good. The biscuit was fine, but rather small and limited fillings meant it was not worth the price as I was not full from eating it. While sitting at the table my friend knocked over her drink due to the lid not being on all the way. The barista said "at least you got to taste it" (genuinely trying to make her feel better I believe) but did not offer to make a new one. I'm not sure the protocol of a spilled drink, and if it is typically remade. Overall, the food was ok but entirely too small for the price. The drinks were good. Customer service was ok. The baristas were kind, but did not seem to know what to do in these situations. read more

I was staying in Macon for meetings at Robins AFB. Yelping for good coffee & tea joint around the area led me to Z Beans as it seemed to pretty much be the only option between Macon and Robins. I finally managed to stop in the last day of my travel and ordered a drink and a handful of biscuits for the meeting. While the drink was being crafted I started reading the information on the walls. What a story! I don't know why they aren't sharing it here. Basically a young college student named Shane was cut from the baseball team and ended up going on some work study to Ecuador. While there he thought up a coffee store with the impoverished Ecuadorian farmers being his source, but there didn't seem to be enough product to support a store, so he stayed friends with one of the farmers to practice his Spanish. A few years later the farmer shared they could produce enough coffee for a shop and Z Beans was born. There are pictures all over the walls of the farmers so I asked the barista if there was one of Shane. He pointed to a few then asked if I wanted peanut butter, butter, and jam for my biscuits. As they weren't for me I said sure - whatever you have - and he started stuffing all kinds of goodies into a bag to accompany the biscuits. I mentioned to the barista that he must be asked if he's Shane a lot and he said all the time, but that he's Shane's business partner Carter. I congratulated him on the beautiful store and he mentioned they're really excited as they both just graduated from college in August. Wow. Anyway with the story and the two young men going out on a branch to work a business that supports Ecuadorian farmers, I picked up a few bags of coffee and other items which I could use as gifts to support them. The best part: At the meeting people were shy to try the biscuits but as the morning wore on someone picked one up and tried it. As they loved it more people tried them and I was hearing comments like "Now this is a REAL biscuit" and "This is so good!". My boss asked where they were from and hopefully managed to make a visit on his way back to at Atlanta. Hopefully word of mouth grows about Z Beans and they - and their Ecuadorian farmers - prosper! read more

I have nothing but nice things to say about this a place and owner. I was here for a week filming and we got Z as crew all day/night. The owner is passionate about his coffee and him and his staff were so friendly. When we moved locations and got a tab at another local coffee shop, many of us were disappointed. The old Jittery Joes is reborn as Z-Beans coffee. I had the cold brew iced coffee and it was excellent. It was much smoother than what had been served by Jittery Joes. The WiFi also works now, and the employees were very nice and accommodating. There is some comfortable plush seating near the front. A viable alternative to Taste and See. The mission behind this coffee shop is fantastic, and the owner was great to talk to! Sadly though the drinks were not good if you go in expecting specialty quality coffee. I got a flavored latte, which was so hyper-sweet that it was undrinkable. My boyfriend got a cappuccino, which also tasted burnt and bitter. This indicates that either the espresso itself was not good, or a very poor pull. The owner himself said he's not very into coffee, which shows in the quality of the drinks. If you just want basic drinks, or something sweet and decadent, you will probably be fine. We also got a pastry, and it seemed old while also being hyper-sweet. Other coffee shops in Macon don't have the "specialty" vibe that Z beans does, but offers better drinks and food. read more

My boyfriend and I were passing through Macon and decided to try Z Beans out. From the moment we entered the experience went downhill. We waited behind one customer whom the staff was engaging with for about 10 minutes before even greeting us. Thereafter we ordered 2 bowls and I asked for salsa on mine. The staff informed me that they didn't have salsa, but I still wanted to try out their bowls. 20 minutes after ordering we were served our bowls, each had the wrong meat. The bowls were basically scrambled eggs with a dash of meat and veggies. They were flavorless. I have been in the hospitality business for 20 years. I've opened new restaurants and rebranded old. This was one of the worst breakfast places I've been to and will not be back. It takes one terrible experience to keep away new business and deter others from trying it out. read more

I stopped here when driving through Macon and needed a quick lunch. I ordered the Turkey Apple Brie on a croissant and an iced chai tea latte. I could taste the powder in the bottom of the chai latte where all the flavor was. I couldn't finish it because it was mixed so poorly. The croissant was ok. It was turkey and Brie and then apple butter you had to put on yourself. Had I known that I would have ordered something else. The person working had their mask on not covering their nose which defeats the purpose of wearing a mask when handling food in these times. The message behind Z beans, connecting the farmers that produce the product to the customer, is really unique and right up my alley. They have a great selection of breakfast foods and smoothies. One of my favorite places to study! I love the atmosphere and how many plugs they have on the wall for chargers. It's so convenient! I've only had their iced caramel macchiato bc it's so delicious but I can't wait to try more. I really enjoyed their smoothies they taste fresh and are blended well. Food is pretty good I've had the ham and cheese croissant sandwich. It is on the pricey side for certain things. I ordered a Almond Milk Iced Latte and it was really good and tasted super fresh. I also had a cinnamon roll which was amazing. They make most of the pastries in house which I really appreciate. The mission behind the coffee house is also incredible. We got the dark roast coffee beans to make at home. I have yet to try them, but I look forward to making a cup. Their coffee is pretty strong and has a deep taste which I love. It's not bitter at all, just has a dark flavor. Would totally recommend if you're driving by in the freeway, it's not too far from the exit. read more
