Worked with Taste for my Aug 2023 wedding. It was such a flawless experience. Chris was the coordinator who worked with my now husband and I. I warned him ahead of time that there would be many voices from our family offering their opinions left and right; well Chris handled all that like a pro! He didn't forget what the wedding couple wanted. He didn't let our family members steamroll over him. Come wedding day, I was hiding in a room somewhere w my husband away from the crowd and Chris secretly fed us signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. During reception, he had plates assembled for us so that we wouldn't go hungry. At the end of the night, his team packed us food to go!! Chris and his designer shoes were a godsend. The Chef too was absolutely amazing and gracious with the multiple changes our family made to the menu. Groom and I wanted an elevated Asian fusion menu that went beyond stereotypical panda express type of affair. We not only wanted to incorporate Chinese, Vietnamese, Burmese cuisines, we also threw in vegan, vegetarian, and rare spices that had to be procured from certain vendors. This, for a party of almost 300 people. Yes, we were THAT annoying. But Chris and Chef never gave up on us. We had 2 tastings including dessert/cake. I was so impressed with the tasting experience I thought, "what could top this??" Then on actual wedding day, to see all the incredible food assembled so beautifully for our guests, I was blown away. Food is one of those things people remember weddings by. It can make or break your guest experience. Give too little food and your guest will end up ordering take out to your venue to embarrass you (yes, I know of a wedding where that actually happened). Give older Asian family members mediocre food and they'll never let you live it down. I had countless guests come to me excitedly talking about how incredible the cocktail hour and reception dinner was. Nobody went hungry. Late night bites were also a hit! My company just had their summer party and I got connected with Taste Catering through our venue. Do yourself a favor and hire them for your events! I have been planning events for years and I have worked with so many talented caterers, but Taste practically did my job for me. They were a one stop shop for food, entertainment, and decorations. They got all my rentals and flowers. They hired a band for my event. When i added two more hours to the party and two more bars they easily accommodated. Christopher, who I worked with is amazing, responsive, and worked with the parameters of my budget. I could not have pulled off this event without them. Their staff was professional and had everything setup and ready to go so quickly. The food was great and beautifully setup. My catering experience with Taste was excellent. I organized our company summer offsite at the SFMOMA and as is the case with most large venues, they have a list of preferred caterers. I used Yelp to decide, which of the suggested caterers I should be picking and when I saw that a friend of mine had given Taste 5 stars, I was already heavily swaying in their direction. Nevertheless, I reached out to a couple of the suggested caterers and Taste just had the better pitch. They had a much fresher approach...refreshing indeed! The planning for the party was flawless: I told them what I wanted and they gave me good feedback, always keeping the space for the event in mind. I am a person who likes to chat over the phone and discuss things in person - instead of sending copious amounts of emails back and forth and the Taste team was happy to comply with my preference and followed up with a summary email afterwards. The day of event was smooth "as a baby butt": we fed all of the 2000 guests and everyone loved the event. I was especially intrigued with the little beer garden that we created on the 5th floor of the SFMOMA...I felt as if I was back in Germany! My review of Taste Catering is a bit overdue. I was highly impressed with the various hors d'oeuvres/appetizers that were provided at a relative's wedding reception. The service was extraordinary and superb, and the employees were top-of-the-line professionals. They were very approachable, answered questions and even allowed me to take photos of what they were presenting. I'm a sushi addict and did they have plenty to offer. I also enjoyed to my heart's delight the filet mignon lettuce wraps, chicken on a crispy ridge chip, miniature pork banh mi sandwich, and the salmon/crab sushi roll. Even the desserts were wonderful...heavenly and delicate were the crepes a l'orange caviar and decadent chocolate ganache (with an essence of Grand Marnier). Bubbly pink champagne served in champagne flutes and wines served in their respective glasses. Water with lemon twist served in water goblets. Overall, I was oohing and aahing at their presentation and I am quite sure all the wedding guests were also doing the same thing...the oohs and the aahs...of a catering business who does things with class and a touch of elegance. C'est tres magnifique! Many thanks to Hayley Seed and the employees of Taste Catering for making this occasion so memorable. This wedding reception was the best that I have ever attended. Taste catered our picnic-style welcome party in late September in the Presidio. Overall, the food was really tasty (we did a tex-mex style taco buffet as an homage to my childhood spent in Texas) and they were responsive during the planning process. The only miss was the queso. I had specially requested this appetizer be on the menu and provided a few recipes for reference (given that queso is not common in SF) - but unfortunately it didn't turn out well. It wasn't served in a container that could keep it hot so it turned into a gelatinous clump. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because the weather was frigid, but I was bummed they weren't better prepared to keep the food warm. No issues with the rest of the meal or drinks, so overall I recommend Taste. read more

Caution! This catering company was recommended to me by a colleague so I was excited to "taste" their food. I was sadly disappointed! I ordered a hot buffet lunch of the skewers. The salad was wilted, the rice was rice, the shrimp smelled funky, their was very little shrimp or chicken, and both the shrimp and chicken was overcooked and rubbery. And it was expensive! We planned our first event since COVID - outdoors for a group of women in SF. I was a little worried about food since most catering is shareable plates. TASTE had some great options - skewers and mini-sandwiches. I was just happy to have something that worked in these times. I was also a little worried people woudn't want to eat too much since it was just a happy hour. The food exceeded my expectations. Not only were the sandwiches REALLY tasty (tuscan steak, chicken to name a few) but I literally had no food left at the end of the night which meant people loved it and I didn't have to feel guilty about having extra. One of the best decisions I made planning my wedding was choosing Taste Catering. They were an absolute dream vendor to work with, and handled so much more than just the food element - aside from the catering, they also handled all florals and lighting. My venue (a fine arts museum) had strict policies in place for all vendors to adhere to, and Taste managed everything with absolute aplomb. We used Taste Catering for our wedding at the Log Cabin in the Presidio. The food was delicious, the flowers were gorgeous, and the service was impeccable. Taste did all the set-up and design/flowers for our ceremony and reception. Plus the food, drinks, and cake for our cocktail hour and reception. Our guests gave RAVE reviews as well. Christopher and Cheri were responsive and so helpful throughout the planning process and on our wedding day. They were always quick to respond, ready to provide feedback and support, and so knowledgable. They also worked hard to stick within our budget. They thought of all the big items but also small details like bringing us a plate of hors d'oeuvres and giving us our pates of dinner first to make sure we ate! Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the service we received from Taste, especially given their extremely high price tag. We had many guests complain to us after the wedding that the bartenders didn't know common drinks and were super slow. They were even slow for making the signature drink, which they could have prepared in advance. This was after they told us they normally charge extra for a signature drink that they could make with the ingredients they were already planning to bring. Top notch professionals! I head the Marketing Dept at Huawei. We used Taste for our cocktail party after a trade show with 250 guests. I took a survey of the entire event with our team and Taste got five stars across the board. The event was held at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco. Transportation: Taste arranged for rotating shuttles to pick-up our attendees from the oscone. They had excellent signage and a coordinator on-site to the shuttles. Decorations Buffet tables, linens, registration table, badges, red carpet runner, logo branding about the event, coffee tables and stage. The lighting and branding were great. Menu The food was great. We had appetizers, ceviche bar, U.MA.MI Burger and fry bar. We had 16 service staff that we're professional and did a great job. Entertainment We used the DJ for background music. She did a great job as we were a business crowd and not a dancing group. A M A Z I N G ! ! ! From start to finish..... absolute heaven and worth every penny (no joke) I had to host a holiday party for my company. We're still rather small but big enough that going to a restaurant for just dinner didn't seem like a good option. Anyway, I was referred over to Taste from Lunar Design and OMFG I'm blown away. Curtis was my event manager and he was more than patient and knew exactly what I was looking for. He asked all the right questions and followed up with me to make sure things were set up properly. He sent over the menu and when I compared it to the other caterers menus, we HAD to go with Taste. They were in 2 hours before the event, stayed out of the way when needed and were there RIGHT when you needed something. They were on point for everything. I didn't have to lift a finger (even for non catering related stuff). They followed up and gave warnings for the courses (so I could prep the guests to be ready for them) and really paid attention to the flow of the event. Everything was flawless. Presentation was beautiful and the level of professionalism was incredible. This was the my first holiday party for my company and Taste, you guys made me look GOOD. Thank you, thank you, thank you... If you want fine dining for a private setting with super attentive servers and bartenders, a full event manager and catering manager, these guys are top notch. I've had catering done before but never like this. These guys have pretty much ruined it for anyone else.. (for me anyway) Also, their apple tart (something or another) TO DIE FOR. After interviewing a number of high-end caterers in SF, I chose Taste to cater my wedding at the Asian Art Museum. I'm a big foodie and it is my ultimate wedding fear that the food at my wedding will suck like so many banquets, bland rubber chicken or dry fishy fish anyone?? It isn't easy to cook for 150 people, especially at a venue with super strict load-in/load-out timing. Taste won me over with a tasting that rivals any good restaurant in SF. I asked for Asian/Latin fusion and they customized a truly creative menu, including gems such as Koji beef tacos and ahi tuna in crisp seaweed cups as appetizer. The closer was the dessert buffet, truly amazing, including miniature eight treasure rice cake for my Chinese heritage and white chocolate tequila pops for his. After interviewing a number of SF florists, I went with Billy at Taste for his understanding of our modern but classic vision and his creative interpretation of my ideas, talk about value addition! Taste took care of basically everything for our 150-person garden wedding. Christopher was everything we needed in a point-person: responsive, helpful, upbeat, and organized. He was extremely sensitive to the particular needs of our family, and from our first interaction, it seemed as though he could make anything and everything work. This level of courtesy and professionalism is what one would hope for and expect from any high-end catering service, and yet the other company we were considering utterly failed to deliver this. What really made the team extraordinary, though, was the tremendous day-of staff. We chose Taste catering for our wedding this past October. We had already been to a different catering company and it didn't seem like a good fit, so Christopher at Taste was wonderful enough to fit us in their schedule. When designing our menu they put together a wonderful afternoon to taste of all of the possibilities. We also had their design team put together all of the florals the design of the tables at the reception. They have a whole team to take care of everything you could possibly imagine. I was especially impressed with Cheri in the design department. She was able to make wonderful suggestions and come up with an outstanding design. She was also so warm and friendly through such a stressful process. During the wedding there were a few misses that we had requested. We had requested a certain number of tiers on the cake and it was off, also the set up of chairs during the ceremony were not placed correctly. I had also requested to have my own server throughout the evening and did not have that. However these were details that in the final draft of the contract we had missed ourselves. So my suggestion is to check a million times over if certain details are really important to you. We had such a wonderful experience working with great professionals. They have been around for a long time and definitely know how to coordinate a wedding. All of our guest said it was the best food that they had ever experienced at a wedding, and I know we would not have been able to do such a special day without them! Taste Catering did a phenomenal job for my wedding! In addition to catering, they also provided services for our floral, lighting and event planning. Our wedding was at the California Academy of Sciences and they really blew us away. From the get go they were super responsive and it was really clear that they wanted us to enjoy the day. What I loved about their process is they really wanted to get to know me and husband and the types of flavors and foods we loved. After that, we had an initial tasting with them and they really surprised us! We walked into a room with a table that looked exactly how we envisioned our venue decor to look like. The food was delicious and the mini dessert bar we requested was fantastic. What I really appreciate about them is that we had a few extra special requests and they were able to pull it off! It was surprising, but I appreciated the fact that they nailed it and made it quite clear that they were going to be our caterer. They made planning super easy. There was constant communication via email and it was always nice to get an update. Their presentations were extraordinarily professional and you can tell they really get you know as a couple so they can enhance your experience by adding little touches here and there. There was a small hiccup during the planning process because the vendor did not have enough of the original table cloths that we chose, but it was easily solved and in fact their idea of having two different types of table cloths made the sea of tables pop and it ended up looking even better. The day of the event went so well. If there were issues, my husband and I didn't really notice it all. Catering: The food was so amazing. Everyone kept telling us it was delicious and filling. There were no plates that had leftover food. Floral: My wedding bouquet was gorgeous. It was exactly what I asked for. I wasn't planning on saving it, but I ended up getting it freeze dried because I loved it that much! The bridesmaids bouquets were gorgeous, simple and I liked how they weren't super heavy. My mother and mother in law really loved their corsages. They were beautiful and it made them stand out. The arrangements on our dinner tables were picture perfect. The design was exactly how we envisioned it. Lighting: The lighting helped bring everything together. When I look at the pictures, the lighting made a big difference. It helped my pictures pop and added depth to them. Planning: While Taste didn't do our day of planning, they recommended someone to us. I can say with certainty that they really went above and beyond because they usually don't provide this service. Working with Taste made our wedding day flawless. After the venue selection, our 2nd priority was to chose a caterer and I can't express how happy we were to have them as our caterer. Starting from the beginning proposal period, Shannon was helpful in keeping our budget in mind, yet still giving us a one-of-a-kind culinary menu. Then going into the planning period and our wonderful tasting experience. Shannon and team made the whole process easy since we didn't have a planner. We used Taste for their catering, desert bar, alcohol, and drapery services, although their capabilities go above and beyond that. Chris stepped in when Shannon was off on maternity leave and he helped execute all of our wishes leading up to the big day. I would get married at least 5 more times to experience the appetizers again. We had the crab bisque, pork sliders, poke, fish tacos, and filet mignon all in the perfect bite size. For dinner we had a buffet to keep it a little less formal, and to wrap it up Taste did our desert bar as well. Shannon and Chris made sure we had a plate of the apps ready after our photos and they also assigned a server to us all night who did not disappoint. I was a bit worried about having to pick from only a few caterers that our venue allowed, but we were lucky because I'm not sure we would have found Taste otherwise. You generally don't go to a wedding for the food, but our guests said the food was great - best wedding food they had had. I also had about 10% of attendees who had dietary restrictions - including my very complex allergies. They handled it all with grace and one of our guests said they repeatedly checked on her to make sure the food was okay for her dietary issues. Ok, first I'd like to say that it is absolutely ridiculous and absurd that I haven't written yet. Second, I'd like to say that a Taste Catering SF delivers at a quality that is unparalleled and is, unequivocally, the finest caterer in the SF Bay Area. Finally, I'd like to say that it truly was an honor for both us (as a couple) and our guests to have you cater our wedding. Thank you for doing such a splendid, mouth-watering job! To this very day, I still fantasize about the tasting and the food at our wedding (crazy, but true!) My biggest regret is that our photographer failed to take more photos of the food and that our wedding planner failed to collect/deliver leftovers to our hotel (beyond heartbreaking!)
