This is still our favorite spot to get good food cooked fresh, and at a heck good price! Usually we'll order here then kill time across the street next door to do a bit of shopping. We have never been disappointed at all with the food ordered and eaten! There may be a few who do not agree, BUT we have never been disappointed with their food at all! During the few times we've elected to stay there to use one of the tables to dine in, using our own plates/travel utensils, they are always very accommodating and offering plastic utensils and plates. Their food is almost the same quality as I'd eat irregularly in my hometown San Francisco! My wife and I highly recommend this place!! 3.5 stars. I'll round up. I was heading over to Crush It Nutrition a few Mondays back. I noticed Taste Good Chinese Restaurant next to it. I always find it bold when an eatery makes a statement that its food tastes good in its name. Oh, yeah? Let's see if that's true. After shopping at Kohl's in Williamsville, I looked up this eatery online and placed a pickup order. I ordered the following items: - Steamed pork dumplings (6) with garlic dipping sauce - Shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice I got an estimated time of twenty minutes for my food to be ready. I would get there right on time from where I was. That's what I thought. I got a phone call roughly halfway through my drive. A man from the restaurant said that my order was ready. I said that I was heading over there and thanked him. Fast. Good communication. So far, so good. I returned to the plaza anchored by Wegmans. I parked steps away from the main entrance and walked in. This eatery had a number of booths and tables. No one was dining there. I guess that everyone liked doing takeout instead on a Monday night? I said hi to a man who came out of the kitchen. He asked for my phone number. I rattled it off. He was interested in the last four digits of it. So much for good communication here. Just tell me that, so I would have saved us both some time. He handed my food in a paper bag with a plastic bag over it. I thanked him and headed to my car. I then drove back to my hotel room to dig in. The steamed dumplings were yummy. The filling was flavourful. The wrapper was on the thicker side, but it wasn't as doughy as I had feared. I loved the garlicky dipping sauce. My favourite dish these days is shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice at any Chinese eatery. New China Restaurant in Rochester, MN does it right and has set the benchmark high. This place had a lot of egg clumps in the lobster sauce, which put a damper on my eating experience. I actually took all the white egg clumps out. The sauce was okay, but it needed something more exciting flavour-wise. The shrimp were yummy. The pork fried rice also needed more flavour. It didn't have any crispy bits to it. This place wasn't skimpy with its ingredients. It was good, but there is lots of room to make it better. The dumplings were delicious. I'd get them again. Today I did an order for pickup at taste good. This was my first time visiting this location. My initial reaction- they have a nice delivery truck outside with their logo on it which I thought was a nice touch. The inside is clean- I would definitely dine in. The staff was friendly as well. We ordered the Four people Family special. You get General Tso chicken, sweet & sour chicken, beer & brocolli, boneless rib, chicken lo mein, pork fried rice, white rice, 4 soups and 4 egg rolls. ALL FOR $32.99. GREAT VALUE!!!! My only complaint with the meal is the lo mein didn't look appetizing so I didn't eat it and the boneless rib wasn't charred at all compared to other places I've been to. Got the sesame chicken and after eating almost quarter of it, realized it was dark pink and wet 100% raw. Couldn't eat the rest of our order due to being completely disgusted. 3 hours later I couldn't stop puking and shitting and had to miss work so came back to try and get a refund once I felt better 2 days later and they couldn't do that because I did not go to the doctor who would of just said let it pass. Also claimed it's "precooked", clearly the big pieces need more time and were not fully cooked or I wouldn't have gotten so sick. Health department has been contacted, I'd suggest to thoroughly check any meat you get from this pos place. There was not a single apology when I came in, only accusations of it being from something else as if I was making it up. DoorDash only offered me $4 refund for $30+ which is why I came to the store. Hard to believe that food safely is your main concern when your employee was smiling when I told him what was going on as if it was comical I got sick. "The chickens precooked" welp someone fucked up in the process cause there was no denying that my food was RAW. My daughter in California graciously surprised me with a DoorDash delivery. The food arrived promptly and although I prefer savory and a tad spicy to sweet Chinese dishes I was extremely surprised to find that the special duck was exceptionally delicious tender and the other ingredients shrimp chicken and pork enhanced the dish. It's hard to find good duck. The duck was not greasy at all. The mushroom shrimp was very well prepared generous portion of mushrooms and the shrimp were plump. The lage shrimp eggroll was extremely greasy upon delivery, however a couple of minutes in the air fryer crisped it up and grease blotted. quite tasty and large but I did not taste any shrimp in it. Tiny minced vegetables I would suspect Dikon radish or another starchy vegetable minced celery and meat. The portions were very large as you can see from the photos. I have not been to Taste Good in years and that was the restaurant on Delaware Avenue. I had talked to the owners previously and I know they are northern Chinese. The northern Chinese cuisine's are very strong hot and pungent.. This may be one of the reasons the reviews are not sensational. As most people in the Buffalo area like their Chinese food very very mld much like the Mexican food served here. I will go back and definitely explore the menu. Oh yes the prices are exceptionally good lots of soy sauce hot mustard duck sauce and fortune cookies included. . Although my daughter did not order rice there was a generous pint included. Also, there was a large container of wonton soup with four wonton and lots of egg. Kind of reminded me of Jewish kreplach thick and plump.I thought very very good. For my taste there was way too much cornstarch and it was salty to my taste. It heated up well though and I threw in a couple of shrimp that I had on hand Lots left. I would definitely go back. Got the sesame chicken combo for takeout. Replaced the fried rice with white rice. Ordered online, didn't want the egg roll that came with it so I asked for some wonton soup instead. They charge $1 extra for that so I didn't have it. The chicken was pretty good and very hot when we got it. It was made with big chunks of white meat chicken. The white rice was good as well. The only downside is that it kinda took a while for them to make the food. Probably at like 20-25 minutes when the average Chinese takeout restaurant can push food out in like 5-15 minutes. Well an hour and some change rolls by and I call and ask if they have any idea when the food would be to my house. The man on the phone that the delivery had left and was on the way. Another 20 mins passes and at this point I'm annoyed cause where was he coming from that took so long like middle earth? Well then we call back and he said they don't deliver there. We said ok did you make the food I'll pick it up. My family had been waiting forever. He says no we didn't make it. All lunches (usually 3 to 6 orders) are ready in 15 minutes and correct. One time, we had a person ask for white rice instead of fried with their lunch combo. Typical Chinese food restaurant. The food will fill you up, but the taste isn't particularly special or extraordinary. If you tend to overindulge, I would think about choosing another restaurant. This is my second time giving this place a try. I wasn't pleased the last time but I figured maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Unfortunately, it was another dud. The chicken in both of my dishes (chicken and broccoli & hot and spicy chicken) was uncomfortably tough and chewy. I ended up just eating the vegetables. I also ordered hot and sour soup which is normally tangy, savory and spicy. The only flavor I could detect was sweetness. Besides that it was bland. Good hole-in-the-wall Chinese food place that may have a questionable food safety record, but makes a darn fine General Tso's Chicken, so who cares about food safety anyways when all you want is good General Tso's Chicken? This place offers the same Chinese food menu you will find at pretty much every Chinese food place in the United States. This place is primarily for take out or delivery, but I suppose you could eat in. Parking is easy as this place is located in a strip mall with a Wegmans Grocery Store. Kidding aside (the terrible food safety joke above), this is clearly a family operation, and these people are great at what they do. Excellent! Just found this gem and was so glad we did. We had lunch there yesterday and the booths were nice to sit in and enjoy the meal. The food was so good and so plentiful. I had Kung Po Chicken and Hubby had Pepper beef. We both had the won ton soup. It was good but would like to have it with chicken broth instead of beef......just personal choice. The young men that came in after school to run it were so friendly and nice to us. Prices fantastic and as I write this I am eating my left over Kung Po Chicken...Yum! Just a great place in a town of few if any other really good Chinese food. We intend to give them lots of visits and try all we can of different items on their great menu. Just a great place. Been frequenting Taste Good since 2011. Food has gone from decent to horrible. Case in point. Today I ordered a Pu Pu Platter at the restaurant. I explained to the woman behind the counter that the last two Platters I had gotten, one of the battered jumbo shrimps was cooked beyond recognition and to please DO NOT overcook the shrimp. I get my order, drive home, open one half of the platter and the chicken wings were tough, however, the shrimp was cooked properly. Upon opening the second Platter I saw that the shrimp was so over cooked it fall apart into broken, hard, overcooked crap. The wings in that container were also tough. The beef on stick in both were over cooked as well. The ribs were okay and have not eaten the egg rolls as of yet. Another thing that irks me is that they always put onions in my fried rice even when I ask them not to! Bottom line: Never again will I visit Taste Good for my Chinese food. After 10 years of loyalty I am done. Their website does not have en email to send concerns to. It just states that any problems please call us. Um, no. I will not call and try to explain, in English, that my shrimp was burnt yet again, that my rice had onions yet again, and that I will no longer patronize Taste Good. read more
