First visit here-has a parking lot which is a plus in city of Schenectady. Large lobby, but the condition of it is a real turn off. No restroom available (probably COVID) but ATM and gum machines here! I ordered roast pork with Chinese vegetables lunch special about $7. Comes with either soup, egg roll or soda. I chose won ton- it was hot but very bland no flavor in fact I put soy sauce in it to flavor it; did have 4 dumplings though. I would skip this next time. The roast pork was tender thick cut and flavorful on a bed of rice and vegetables which were hot and Done perfectly but again lacked flavor so soy sauce is your friend. This is a place that I go to on a weekly basis for my work for lunch on Thursdays. So I've had quite a bit of experience over the last five years at this restaurant. There are ups and downs just like at any place. They are overall very good with their food but, their consistency is not there. Sometimes you will get food that is really juicy with flavor and it is just spot-on banging and other times you get food that just miss the mark and then there's times and get food where you're like why do I even bother. This time I got food that just missed the mark, let me explain, what ended up saving this dish and pulled out three stars that I gave it was the barbecue boneless spare ribs, they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious but that was the only thing. The ribs were tender they were juicy, they were flavorful and literally as I said earlier when you ate them they just fell apart right in your mouth, easy to chew, sometimes you get boneless spare ribs and it's like chewing on a car tire. There pork fried rice left something to be desired it was very dry there was no real flavor, no real seasoning and just not what I would expect from a Chinese restaurant that has been doing this for so long. I know that I've had authentic Chinese food from friends who are Chinese and they are really into making food and it is nothing like the rice that was served in that meal. The egg roll that came along with it, there was nothing in it but cabbage and sometimes you get sometimes you get extras, sometimes you get a very good tasting egg roll, this egg roll tasted like cardboard, very unappealing and I don't understand the inconsistency in that. Overall I probably will stop getting the lunch platters and maybe go with getting just maybe the meet next time because they are not doing Justice to the rice or the egg roll. This is just my overall View like I said there is three different types of meals that you could get at this restaurant. Pleasantly surprised by all the great vegetarian options!! We got sesame tofu, fried tofu in garlic sauce, and vegetable fried dumplings. Everything was better than expected. Tofu was crispy and flavorful. Vegetables were fresh and cooked really well, which I think is rare when you order Chinese take out! The vegetable dumplings had a broccoli filling which I thought was really tasty and unique. To make it all even better they were very thoughtful and kind when I asked to do a contactless pick up, bringing the food outside when I got there. Really great spot! I stopped for lunch at Taste of China, which is located at the corner of State Street & Nott Terrace. This Chinese takeout restaurant with open kitchen offers the standard Chinese dishes and several chef's suggestions. The prices here are pretty good, most dishes are priced under $10. They offer 35 Lunch Specials served with roast pork fried rice and choice of egg roll, soup (wonton or egg drop), or soda ($4.95-$5.25) and 23 Special Combination Platters served with pork egg roll and roast pork fried rice ($6.30-$7.40). I ordered the L33 Shrimp Lo Mein ($5.25 plus tax) with Roast Pork Fried Rice and Wonton Soup, which was ready in under 10 minutes. The portion of food was good. The shrimp lo mein dish had a mix of vegetables (carrots, celery, cabbage, onions, sprouts) and tender shrimp (some not deveined) with mostly firm noodles, not oily. The pork fried rice (light yellow color) was standard with roast pork cubes and fried onions (no egg), rice had a firm texture. The wonton soup had four wontons with ground pork in a hot light chicken broth (not salty) with scallions, crispy fried noodles on the side. The food there is yummy and tastes just like the chinese food I get in Manhattan. I had the chicken with broccoli with white rice combo which came with an eggroll, which was really good too. Tasty and not too oily. Good eggrolls can be hard to come by in my experience. The woman behind the register was nice and the food was ready quickly which was awesome because I had a bus to catch! lol. We have ordered from Taste of China before, but usually late night. Today we ordered a large late lunch order for a small group of us. As usual more food then anyone could eat! They gave us two orders (free) of Crab Rangoon which was nice, except we don't normally eat it. We had some problems this time with the order and delivery. I felt bad but remains kind because they are really nice people, with good quality food and usually find our house. But today we ordered Singapore Style Mei Fun "extra spicy" and it wasn't even spicy. We ordered the Hot Spicy mushroom. Again, flavorful but not hot or spicy at all. We ordered shrimp with broccoli (lg) and chicken with broccoli (lg) and received two shrimp with broccoli. I wanted one order of steamed rice and got 4 (assuming 2 came with the two orders of shrimp and broccoli). We also got 3 shrimp egg rolls and an order of Fried dumplings. The egg rolls were probably three of the biggest and flavorful egg rolls we've ever had. The last item ordered was where things fell apart. It was a large order of plain lo mein. We were very excited that it arrived exactly as ordered, no veggies no meat, plain. Or so we thought. Part way through 1 serving, she found a short black hair. Nope, none of ourS. Picked it out and optimistically continued on to find a second short black hair. That ended that experience. As she was scraping the remnants into the garbage she says, I put my chopsticks in the snick and I don't have anything to scrape the hair lo mein. And normally, like I said, they can find our house. This time they called twice. Drive by me as I told them to stop as I was then standing in the driveway and then I actually walked to where he parked to get the food from him. Again, really nice man, gave him a big tip. I felt really bad because we usually have a great experience. And seriously, other than the hair lo mein (out of the mouths of babes) getting double shrimp was a minor inconvenience not a disaster. They are far from on the bubble because it is really hard to find really good Chinese in the Schnectady. read more

Great food good delivery they have a koi fish that's over sized and said that they had it for 7yrs. Look I had fish before but they feed theirs something else. Terrible excuse for a restaraunt. 2 hours isnt enough for these people to get your order, when you call because it doesnt show up, they will lie to you, and tell you "TWO MINUTE TWO MINUTE OK" AND THEN HANG UP, and no food shows up. Then wheb the food does show up, it's disgusting and the beef looks like it was trampled on the ground and pre chewed for you. Eat anywhere but here. Oh when you ask.l for a refund they say "I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN". So dont order here because when they dont bring you food, they dont refund your money either. read more

We just moved to Schenectady from Colonie a month ago and had already tried China Dragon, based on reviews online. In Colonie, we used Dragon Garden and like it (not loved) but compared to other local options, was preferred. Anywaaayy, tonight we tried Taste of China. Sooooo good!!!! Ordered Chicken and Broccoli, spicy, Hot & Spicy Beef and shrimp spring rolls. Everything was sooo great, we no longer miss the now very-mediocre-by-comparison China Dragon and Dragon Garden! Everything was fresh, the chicken wasn't obscured by batter and a nice little kick on the spicy (but not too much) to boot. read more

I have no prior experience with this restaurant.
