Nasty! Just nasty! No hygiene! I returned my meal because they gave me the wrong food and I didn't notice until after I got back to work to eat. They were apologetic and took the food back. However, instead of throwing the food out the lady at the front desk put it on the counter in the back. As I waited for my food, I saw another lady open the bag, take the food out, open it and put it right back on the counter. Why? Instead of just throwing it out? I hope no one else got that plate. Best Chinese food I've had in years to the point I just HAD to leave a review. Im a pescatarian so I always get either the sesame shrimp or general tso shrimp and it's literally the best I've ever had. I can tell they use good quality shrimp it's not those huge over cooked smelly shrimp that I get at other Chinese places. The place is fairly small, which is order at the counter with open kitchen and a couple tables. The prices here are pretty reasonable, most items under $10. 15 Lunch Specials ($5.45 each) served with pork fried rice & can of soda and 20 Special Combination Plates ($6.50-$7.50) served with pork fried rice and egg roll. In the past (several years ago), one of my good buddies enjoyed getting his "Chinese takeout fix" from Spring Garden when he lived a few blocks away. I would order food with him from Spring Garden and found the food here to be alright and on the greasy side, receiving a good amount of food for the price. Recently, I stopped in here for lunch and ordered the L5 Shrimp Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice and can of cold Diet Pepsi, ready to go in about 7 minutes. The good portion of hot food was served in a round plastic microwaveable container. The lo mein dish was okay, which had soft noodles, tender shrimp (deveined), cabbage, and fresh sliced mushrooms. My favorite Chinese place in Troy, my grandma lived in Troy as a kid we always got Chinese food from spring garden and I have to admit it's kind of made me a snob about other Chinese food, this food is delicious and done right every single time. We gave this place another chance after 10 years. Sorry to say we did! Although hubby liked the fried potstickers, the combo dish I ordered was below par. The fried rice was dreadful, not home made, had 3 peas in it and yellow rice. Ugh. They must order low quality frozen products as the spring rolls were horrible too! Don't do it. I got diarrhea after eating the beef chow mei fun and had abdominal pain for a week. It was definitely bc of the food here.

Prices are slightly higher than most of the other Chinese takeout restaurants in Troy/Lansingburgh, but the food is pretty good. I particularly enjoy their Egg Rolls and Chicken in Garlic Sauce. The amount of sauces in most of the flavored chicken plates is very plentiful, and I've never had the "dry food" experience I sometimes have had with other Chinese takeout restaurants. My biggest gripe is the delivery time. Not only is the minimum for delivery $15 ($5 more than most places), but their delivery times are slow. Even on the slowest nights, it seems to take at least a half hour for the food to be delivered just down the street, and they usually take longer than what they quote over the phone. Ordered 'house special lo mein" combo. $8.75. I was charged an additional fee of three dollars making this noddle with rice dish $11.75. Apparently, it was a "special order and the 3 extra ingredients were $1.00 per item. What could a piece of this or a piece of that possibly cost? The size was the same as the normal dish. And the Quart size is $10.50. The online menu is difficult to work with. I did see a house special combo of lo mein for the regular price. Really disappointed. Wasn't worth the extra money. Is barely is worth the 8.75. But we want to support local businesses. My guess is that we will go out of our way to get to the Plum Blossom. It is really clean there and not greasy and food is identifiable. Gouging the public while in the pandemic is not ok. A lot of us are not working. Bad review continues for the Orange flavored Beef dish. $13.75. A lot of fried stuff in a heavy sweet sauce. All batter with stringy pieces. Come on guys... you can do better than this! Spring Garden is by far one of the best Chinese take-out restaurants you will ever visit. I would definitely consider Spring Garden a hidden gem of the food world. Along with its convenient location, its food cannot be beaten. Food that's ordered there is always still hot (not just warm, hot) by the time you get home. With such great food, you'd think that the prices would be a little high, but the prices are unbeatable! When you go in and order food, the menu is neatly organized insuring a speedy order, and the food is given to you in a matter of minutes. The workers taking your order are very friendly. The only negative thing about Spring Garden is that, OCCASIONALLY, they forget something in your order, but they are always kind and understanding, and they have no problem with giving you the contents they forgot. So I went in there before and it was fine recently I ordered delivery and it wasn't. The older gentleman who delivered my food yelled at me what's your car broken? I was getting my son ready for his spring fling dance and I needed food delivered. What's it any of their business anyway? I called the store just to get two different responses of he didn't understand you and doesn't speak any English to the following he is a friend of the family and should be punched and fired. I just moved into town, was craving chinese food... As soon as the guy in back of counter said 5-10 minutes to cook $30.00 of food i knew something was shaddy.... Usually it is 25 minutes. They must have had a change in management or made some very poor decisions on who they were hiring recently, because we've always had excellent service until the last time we ordered from them. Ordered 2 combos and one non-combo as one of us could not eat the pork fried rice and did not want that much food. We repeated twice on the phone that we DID NOT want the combo. Not only did they send it as a combo, which was inedible due to the fact that pork was touching the other food, but when we called and asked them to fix it they insisted that we said we wanted the combo. After about five minutes of arguing, during which the woman on the phone became extremely petulant and rude, she asked what we wanted her to do about it. We asked her to please send us the food that we ordered, which she reluctantly agreed to do as long as we paid for the new food and sent the old order back so they could give it to someone else! I've been in the food industry for years and re-serving already sent out food is absolutely illegal.
