This used to be our go-to place for Chinese food in Slidell. Family ritual - we got Chinese food every Sunday for years, and usually from here. However, the whole experience has gone downhill since the pandemic. Long list of disappointments. The portion sizes are smaller. They don't offer brown rice any more. In general the food is just not as good as it used to be. Consequently, we don't get food from here regularly or often. It saddens me because this was a favorite place that I would recommend to people. One personal peeve - in the past, I could call in an order and it was ready when I got there. Lately, I call in an order and then I still have to wait once I get there. Based on the timing, I think they don't even start cooking it until I show up. On the other hand, while I am waiting around for my phoned-in order, there is a steady stream of people coming in to pick up their (presumably) phoned-in orders. So maybe it's just me. I was curious to try this place because of my wife. She tried this place once, then I noticed she returned again and again especially for her lunch breaks. She finally took me with her the other day, needless to say it was super tasty. Now I'm back! I got the shrimp with broccoli and shrimp stir fried rice, with shrimp egg roll and egg drop soup. Everything was hot and delicious! Apologies for mostly eaten egg roll and food, I was eating not thinking about reviews. Where do I start...this was our go to for Chinese food in Slidell. We've frequented this establishment for 5+ years and watched the owner's children grow up. We've noticed the change in over the past year or so with the lack of attention to detail and customer service. I placed an order, and they got it wrong and after a 10-minute debate over verifying what we actually ordered (a mix up of white rice and lo-mien), we were told that we are able to come in to swap white rice for lo-mien for an additional charge). After we hung up on an absurd request, we received a call back from TOC management saying that they will swap the white rice for lo-mien for a charge, but why would I do that if the mix up was on their end. I refused to accept or go back to an establishment that decides to expect the customer to pay for the employee's error. They have lost a long-term established customer. read more

There was virtually no Roast Pork. It was like the Fried Rice it was dark black. This is done to mask the fact the fact that there no Vegetables other than cheap brown onions. I have been coming here for five years, and every week I drop by to get Chinese food. The service is amazing, and the employees are so nice and welcoming. They are always busy, and I can see why. The food here is consistently delicious, which is why I always come back. My favorite dishes are the Kung Pao Chicken and the Beef with Broccoli. I used to get take out from there all the time. It's probably been about 2 years. Had it to night. My usual crab Rangoon and Sweet and Sour shrimp on Fried Rice. The shrimp were way over fried and the breading was I don't know how to explain it but not a crispy batter. And the fried rice just fell apart rather than being stickier. My kids love the combo rice here. Full of meats and great flavor. I enjoy the bourbon chicken... think back to the old mall food court days where they'd give you a sample on a toothpick LoL it's just as good as I remember it. The food is just not consistently good. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. If you order ahead with the Beyond Menu app, it might be ready when you arrive, but most of the time it is not. The hot and sour soup was really good a few months ago, but every time we order it, it gets worse. There's hardly anything in it compared to other Chinese restaurants around town. The people there are really nice, though. However, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. One of the 6 tables is used for putting their paper go boxes together and is where the employees' children hang out. The other, closest to the counter, is where people who ordered take-out normally sit to wait. There are much better Chinese restaurants in Slidell. When my family and I first moved to Slidell a year ago we had no info to go on regarding Chinese food. TOC was near our house and it had good reviews online. It was some of the best Chinese food we have had. We got it just a couple of more times in forwarding months and it was still pretty good. Earlier this year when we ordered I noticed it wasn't as tasty but still alright. Just ordered last night and I am very disappointed. It was BLAND. (i ordered stirfry veggies w/veggie fried rice) Usually I don't need to add anything to my dish because the sauce from the dish is usually enough but I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce to make it even taste tasty. Then my food just tasted like soy sauce. I actually just found out that they had new ownership and it coincided with the downfall of the food. I'm going to start by saying that I'm very tough to please when it comes to chinese food. My rating for them is actually 4.5, but I rounded up. Their egg rolls are jumbo, and I could tell the cabbage inside was fresh. The shrimp and bean curd I thought could use a little more flavor, but I added some peanuts to it and it was perfect. They also passed the "fried rice" test, which can make or break a chinese place. I gave it a try today, and would say that it's a pretty good place. read more
