2 meat plate oxtail & curry goat (medium size ), swapped out the rice & peas for Mac and Cheese
    Myesha M.

The food is amazing here !! I wouldn't say that I am a regular , although I have eaten at this spot a few times . I won't lie , there are sometimes when the food has been better than other days . I am a huge fan of oxtails. And theirs are really good. They always give you such huge portions of everything, allowing me to have the opportunity to enjoy the food more than once (leftovers), but depending on the day and I am assuming the cook , the food quality could be better. The taste and the quantity of the food always exceeds expectations, but here recently the oxtails have been a little tough/harder to eat than usual. Just the other day , I ordered the medium oxtail and curry goat plate that comes with rice and peas and cabbage. I appreciate how this restaurant allows you to substitute the sides , instead of rice and peas I got Mac and cheese .. I enjoyed it all , just feel like the oxtails were overcooked or undercooked , I'm not sure !! But they were hard as h***/ rubbery. These days I tend to have a lot of my orders doordashed to my house . So I haven't had the opportunity to check out the ambiance recently. However , a couple of my employees frequent this restaurant and they say that the staff is some approachable and friendly. That they are always willing to make accommodation and the food is always fresh and hot !! I absolutely recommend this restaurant!!!

Honestly, it's not what it used to be. I feel like 2019-2022 it was great but I just got some today (5-12-25) and it was nowhere near as good as it used to be. TBH it was disappointing it took three big bites from two different people to find the dry withered dehydrated, meat in the beef patty. I mean just look at the picture....

Absolutely phenomenal. They don't do this In ATL. So glad a friend brought me here! The lady at the front was so polite and patient. The oxtails were absolutely delicious. Never had barbecue oxtails before. So glad I tried the sweet honey barbecue oxtails. Thank you again. I love this place!

    Brown stew Chicken Dinner (Medium)

Brown stew chicken isn't authentic and taste like regular American chicken! The Mac and cheese you have to pay extra for is cooked from the Velveeta Mac n cheese Box!! I would NEVER COME BACK

I must admit that when I pull up to the spot I was a little skeptical by the appearance and some crazy man who appeared to be high off some substance was walking back and forth. Never the less we went inside for some familiar Caribbean food. Once inside there is a pool table w/ RB music playing in the background. I order the veggie plate with a side order of plantain. My husband order Jerk Chicken. The Plantain was extremely soft, with just the right amount of brown caramelized goodness. My rice and veggie was good. Not to spicy, season just right for those with a more basic palate. You can add spice if you like it more robust. However, for me it was just right. My husband on the other hand said his jerk chicken was spicy but good. Overall the food hit the spot and portion sizes were super sized l. We order large and had so much food left over. I hope this spot continues to keep the goodness going bc if they do I will be a returning customer.

This a family oriented and owned business serving the absolute best Jamaican food. If you ever jam have in inkling to get Jamaican food, the drive is worth it. The ambiance is homey. I do not recommend dinning in because you are going to get down. I have had the oxtail meal before and it was by far the tastiest, most tender oxtail meal I ever had! This time I got the jerk chicken meal. The meals come with rice and peas and two sides. I usually get cabbage and yams.

This is an example of what was sent to me from them! As you can see the bread is broken up and the patties are burnt!

Do not DoorDash with this restaurant, if you can go in person to verify what you're buying, then fine, but if you're using a delivery service, don't! They have a way of sending out their worse food items or not sending those items at all if you're ordering delivery services! This has been my third negative experience with them whereby they've shorted me an item or two or sent out the worse items in their store! I try to patronize Black businesses, but some of these businesses don't prioritize good customer service and should be out of business, period! Below is a sample of my order from 1/17/25 whereby I ordered 3 meat patties and 1 coco bread, as you can see, they shorted me one patty, the other two were burnt and the coco bread was smashed! I again tried them today (1/18/25) to give them another chance, same scenario, they shorted me one item on my order! I have zero tolerance for inept people and their poor or shoddy business practices! As a Black person, I tried to give more opportunities to my people to do right! If this was any other ethnicities, I would have slammed them on the first try and not give them second and third chances as I've done with this business!

Jerk Chicken W/Rice & Peas (Beans) and Cabbage
    Nia W.

Today l decided to try Jamaican food for the first time. It was a lot of menu options from the most popular item- oxtails to goat and wings. I decided on Jerk chicken with brown rice and peas which are really beans and cabbage. I ordered the medium sized plate. I also got 2 side orders of plantains but they were eaten before l got home (l love plantains) The Jerk chicken is not for the weak it is SPICY. Now the cashier did warn me but l thought it was regular spicy NO. But its very flavorful and reminds me of smoked bbq with a lot of kick!

Reggae Pasta w/Chicken = Dry, dry, dry
    Tracey P.

Felt lazy and craved Caribbean food today. Decided to try something new instead of ordering from my usual. Came across this place "Taste of Jamaica". Since a taste of Jamaica is what I wanted ..... I chose this place and ordered a beef patty, the "large" order of Oxtails, and the Reggae Chicken Pasta (both I requested with extra gravy and pasta sauce). Of the 3 dishes, I enjoyed the beef patty as it was the only item that was flavorful and closest to a Jamaican taste. The main entrees were a true disappointment. Both the chicken and oxtails were so dry. I don't think had I even gotten the extra sauce I requested would have made a difference. I gave this 1 star due to the preparation and lack of caribbean flavor.

Jerk Chicken W/Rice & Peas and Cabbage

This is my first time trying Taste of Jamaica. This restaurant is amazing. It has genuine hospitality and authentic Jamaican food. The meal was very flavorful. I had the jerk chicken, with rice & peas, and cabbage. I loved how smoky and spicy the grilled jerk chicken was, how grounding the rice & peas made me feel, and how perfectly steamed the cabbage was cooked. My experience was great! I came back again!!

    Jerk Pork Ribs Dinner
    Macy W.

Overall, the food was okay. The jerk seasoning on the pork ribs was not what I expected at all. A bit underwhelming. I asked for Mac and cheese to replace my cabbage (they happily accommodated the request), but when they brought it out to me, they asked if I wanted them to put it back in the microwave to be hotter, which I thought was strange. The pepper steak was not seasoned well, and the beans were undercooked (inside the rice).

My mother, stepdad and me shared the Meals

The establishment itself is small and when entering it isn't entirely clear if one is supposed to sit at a table and wait for a menu or order at the counter. Our server was very nice and answered our questions as we tried to figure out what best to eat. Overall the food tasted good though I think I'm used to a more robust flavor. I would give the place more stars but for a few things: (1) it was 70ish degrees outside but it was warmer inside the restaurant (seemed like they had the heat going very strong); (2) there were cartoons playing on the only TV and it might have been nice to have music or other Chanel options but there were kids present so presumably the cartoons were for them; and (3) we were told there were no restroom facilities. This latter issue was very surprising as I believe it is against state regulations to not have public restrooms in an eatery. A sign alerting customers to this inconvenience might also be advisable.

It was a beautiful day outside so I found a place near Cedar Hill Park and we ate outside. We both ordered the lunch special, hers with potato salad, and mine with red beans and rice with added hot link. The lunch special came with a leg and a thigh, and one side for less than $10! The chicken was extremely tender, juicy, and flavorful. I mean to the bone! The kick was there for the jerk chicken as well, because what's jerk chicken without spice? They weren't stingy on their jerk sauce either. Their red beans and rice were really good, I loved it with their jerk chicken, it was a good amount of serving as well. The potato salad was also really good, I mean I make a pretty good potato salad, but theirs definitely topped mine. The pat'e was really good and flavorful as well, I just wished the pastry on the outside was a bit more flaky like and less bread like, but it was still really delicious!
