While searching for something else, I came across this place. I sat in my car and read the reviews and almost decided not to go in, but I figured I should give it a chance. When I arrived, a beautiful older woman took my order. It was her first day, and she excelled at customer service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment was clean, and my food was cooked to order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered chicken and one piece of fish. I intentionally chose one piece because I know how Bob's can be when it comes to what's advertised versus what you actually get. Unfortunately, the so-called catfish was disappointing. About 45 minutes on a Tuesday night. The location itself is not exactly easy to get to, and finding a parking place in the small strip mall was difficult. I would recommend delivery next time. The positive part is the chicken was amazingly tender. Fried, but not dry. I ordered a 3 pc combo and it was more than I could eat. The okra was also perfect. I ordered hush puppies and a side salad, but got two side salads in my to-go bag. After hearing about the amazing lemon pepper seasoned catfish and shrimp I decided to drop in for lunch. I cannot gatekeep this seafood, so sharing the greatest Wednesday special to be had! This was a tasty $8 catfish and shrimp special. The special is an entree platter, serves with hand cut russet fries and a small tossed salad. Also, worth mentioning, the salad was good. I was really excited to try Dat Chicken due to the reviews. I won't say it was a bad experience but I was expecting more flavor. Perhaps it was an "off day"; maybe I am not the target audience. I grew up cooking southern soul food so comparing my own cooking and my family's to take out probably isn't fair. The food was definitely fresh, the service was awesome and I love to support small businesses. I say give it a try and see if you are the target audience for Dat Chicken. This is a mostly Togo ordering type place. My mans at the front counter is prompt and polite. Food took a little time but it's understandable because it's made to order and wow it was fresh!! I recommend ordering online then picking up. I ordered the 4 wing combo and it came with fries, pickles, jalapeño, and some rolls. I also ordered the fish and 4 shrimp combo with coleslaw and okra. It didn't come through or something wasn't working. So I had to sit and wait for the food. It was hot. The chicken was good cook well seasoning was good. They catfish filled is actually full pieces and not sliced in half like some places I ordered. Every piece was seasoned perfectly and not just fried well to give the appearance of being seasoned. I discovered this place about a month ago and I've already been back 4x. The food is cooked to order so it's always hot and fresh. What I appreciate most is the customer service. They answer the phone when you call and are very polite and patient although they get alot of business. Whenever I pick up my order there's always someone picking up a large catering order.
