I tried the southern food restaurant close to my hotel this week. A home cooked meal on the road sounded good. I ordered online and waited for the alert that my order was ready. About 45 minutes on a Tuesday night. The location itself is not exactly easy to get to, and finding a parking place in the small strip mall was difficult. I would recommend delivery next time. The positive part is the chicken was amazingly tender. Fried, but not dry. I ordered a 3 pc combo and it was more than I could eat. The okra was also perfect. I ordered hush puppies and a side salad, but got two side salads in my to-go bag. No biggie, as I don't need the carbs anyway [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has limited seating inside against the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely order from Dat Chicken again. My combo meal with sides was $22. Prepared on-time, large portion sizes, and great southern comfort cooking.

$8 Wednesday 1 Catfish Fillet and 3 shrimp meal! Well seasoned, great seafood

After hearing about the amazing lemon pepper seasoned catfish and shrimp I decided to drop in for lunch. I cannot gatekeep this seafood, so sharing the greatest Wednesday special to be had! This was a tasty $8 catfish and shrimp special. The special is an entree platter, serves with hand cut russet fries and a small tossed salad. Also, worth mentioning, the salad was good. Lettuce greens were fresh! Counter Service. Indoor dining available bar style seating. With a large 100 inch (approx sizeeee) television on ESPN sports. True sports fan will enjoy while awaiting food order. Seafood cooked to order and takes upwards of 12-15 minutes. So worth a second visit!

This is a mostly Togo ordering type place. My mans at the front counter is prompt and polite. Food took a little time but it's understandable because it's made to order and wow it was fresh!! I recommend ordering online then picking up. I ordered the 4 wing combo and it came with fries, pickles, jalapeño, and some rolls. I also ordered the fish and 4 shrimp combo with coleslaw and okra. Everything was straight gas and fresh. Well seasoned. The okra was cooked perfectly and the shrimps was the best thing going. Highly recommended and I'll be back fosho!

Customer service is AMAZING. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We were told about the special for the day which we ordered. The chicken was fresh, and fried to perfection. Order took about 15 mins. You can eat in or take out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bar tops and bar stools to eat in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We were so disappointed tonight! I sent my wife to get (3) 3 x wing baskets and the chicken was old and the fries were cold. For a business to say "they have the best fried chicken in Texas," What we received today should have never came from their kitchen. Absolutely horrible! I can't even give them a star because after we called in our order my wife still had to wait 10 minutes to get the order.

UPDATED March 1, 2022 I've upgraded to 5 stars, because the chicken is always consistent in flavor and always moist. The fried shrimp is delicious and the hush puppies are so good I have to force myself to stop eating too many lol! I highly recommend this place for homestyle fried chicken!

The service was relatively friendly for fast food and the restaurant was clean so that's worth something. The food is well... a bit better than average for fast food I would say. The cheese jalapeno biscuits for breakfast were our favorite. The first time we had a patty melt, it was pretty good. The second time, we were less impressed. We also got a jalapeno and bacon burger that was ok but super dry. The fries were typical fast food horrible. The onion rings were tasteless. Our orders were correct but several people were complaining their orders were not right. It seemed many customers use the drive through and then come in the restaurant to get their order fixed. I think they make your food to order because it's not "fast". It took about 15-20 minutes to get our orders. Life is good when you try something new.

Unfortunately, my experience did not quite match the hype. I ordered the fried catfish fillet with collard greens, and while the meal was decent enough to eat, it was nothing particularly memorable. The catfish was cooked through, but it lacked the seasoning and crispy texture I usually expect from good southern-style fried fish. It tasted fairly plain and could have benefited from more flavor overall. The collard greens were also disappointing, as they seemed underseasoned and did not have the rich homemade taste that many people rave about in similar restaurants. The staff was courteous and the restaurant itself appeared clean and organized, so I can appreciate the effort in customer service. However, based on the food quality alone, I was left feeling underwhelmed considering the strong reviews and recommendations I had seen beforehand. It was not a terrible experience, but it also was not impressive enough to make me eager to return.

The smoke from the kitchen basically consumed the dining area and was very irritating. It eventually dissipated after a while, but I wouldn't recommend infants in this environment. After our party was seated, it took 15-20 min before our waiter greeted us and provided water; that was a bit annoying. After we got our orders in, things were smooth sailing from there. We were a large party and our waiter did a pretty good job at managing us and all of our requests. Food: they do not waste time bringing the food out. Most of our orders came out within 10 minutes! I ordered the Short Rib (unfortunately not pictured). It was hot, tender, and seasoned well....very good. It came on a bed of rice and some type of sauce. I was not a fan of either. The rice seemed uncooked and the sauce was too much and very liquid. It drowned the rice and practically made it soupy. I would have been fine with just the short rib. I also ordered a side of black eyed peas... also not a fan. It was undercooked and I didn't love whatever seasoning was used to prepare it. Other items I tried: Fries, Cornbread, Yams, and Soul Rolls. These were all tasty, specifically the soul roll. It came out crispy, hot, and stuff proportionately. I could take every bit of what was inside. It's definitely a must try.

Vivian Howard of North Carolina, Chef, Restaurateur and teacher to hopeful home cooks with her current show on PBS, "Kitchen Curious" cites Bojangles as the source of her inspiration for dirty rice, wanting to recreate that specific flavor profile at home. Yes, Bojangles. She even went through their drive thru on the show where she makes her own version of dirty rice. So I finally went to the Bojangles near me in Lancaster one evening. We stopped in and marveled at the many biscuit combinations on the menu. I will say that reading through the reviews on our way there was weird though. There are apparently "legacy" Bojangles out East that serve bone in Chicken and more selections of sides or "fix ins." This caused consternation after this Lancaster franchise opened and they didn't have bone in chicken. It seemed to affect customer perception of the current trimmed down menu of biscuit and tenders, salads and sandwiches only menu early on. The menu reminds me of Chick- fil-A, just different. As for today, I came for the Dirty Rice. But we did order two Chicken sandwiches plus pickles, a family size dirty rice and a family size coleslaw, to go. Bojangles does not have jalapeños FYI. The menu neglected to show a sandwich only price. So I asked. I was told $6.92 including tax. The family size fix ins were $4.99. Combos with sandwich, beverage, and side choice are approximately $9.50. Sandwiches come with lettuce and tomatoes according to the menu. The restaurant was clean with booths and tables. Service was friendly. When we got home though, I must have been misunderstood or I misunderstood what went on the sandwiches. We had ended up with only pickles instead of added pickles. I don't usually post photos of food with utensils or half full containers with food already removed but today, I am doing that. I sliced up some tomatoes, washed lettuce, got out the jalapeños and more pickles and mayo and we fixed up our sandwiches. I would like to think that everything would have been sorted out at the restaurant if we had dined in, but only 2 pickles? Seriously? The chicken itself was cooked perfectly. The exterior was still mostly crispy and was well seasoned. It certainly needed the veggies. And I have to have my jalapeños! The bun was brioche however and perfectly toasted. Now the dirty rice. I could taste the chicken bouillon in the well seasoned rice and the big chunks of sausage were appreciated. It was good. So was the coleslaw. Nice and cold, crunchy and a perfect foil to my jalapeños on my sandwich. So we spent spent $24.42 on two people for no drinks, two large sides and two sandwiches. Honestly, it was good, but it is not something that I would eat frequently. As I said, we don't usually eat fried chicken out. They are open 24 hours! With a well lit drive thru and easy online ordering. Go and check them out!
