I tried the vegetables I tried to meats I tried to desserts. I tried not to go into a food coma as I became super sleepy after eating everything and still had about 5 hours of my work shift to go . I have passed by this restaurant several times, and finally decided to try it out last Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival there was a line and a bit of a wait, but I honestly assumed I would encounter the after church crowd. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that every plate you order comes with a meat, three sides, a drink, and dessert. I ordered the meatloaf, greens, yams, and broccoli cheese rice. For the drink I chose the Kool-Aid, and for the dessert I chose the strawberry cake. The meatloaf and greens were delicious, but the broccoli cheese rice was definitely missing something. I could also taste that they likely put too much nutmeg (for my personal taste) in the yams, but they weren't horrible. Overall I only paid $16.99 which is a great deal in my opinion. I ordered the oxtails, their portion size was decent. However who ever seasons the oxtails has a heavy hand. These oxtails have more salt than the Dead Sea. I'm here about twice a week picking up lunch for my mother who's a resident at a nursing home near by. She loves the food there and they even take requests especially on desert items you desire. Because of the frequency of my visits, I'll get a greeting asking how's my mother. That's what I appreciate most. The Staples here are very good but the specialty items are over-the-top delicious!
