I decided to try them as well as their beef patty and coco bread. The beef patty was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. The akee and saltfish was a bit bland and definitely had no salt fish taste. I would never consider myself an expert in Jamaican food and don't have the opportunity to eat it often but I really really enjoyed everything we ordered from here. The patties were hot and super fresh, we had to wait about five minutes for a fresh batch of beef patties and it was well worth the wait! We order a beef patty, a jerk chicken patty, a bread pudding, and a plantain tart. All of that food for $8.60, you can't beat these prices! My favorite was the jerk chicken patty! It was piping hot, had a nice amount of filling and a great, rich flavor. The shop is rather small and due to COVID they have no dine in seating. They are also currently limiting the amount of customers in side the restaurant to 5 at a time. We drove by originally and there was such a long line we ran some errands before coming back. Around 1pm we came back and only four or five people were in line. By the time we had ordered and received our food there was once again about ten people in line! But I promise you, it was well worth waiting in line for! I can't wait to stop by again to try the Ackee patty next time! read more

Taste Rite does patties right. I have heard a lot of good things about Taste Rite prior to visiting and I must admit they have lived up to the hype. Firstly, they are not a restaurant that ALSO sell patties. This is a Patty shop that sells other items in addition to patties. Patties are their specialty which in effect produced some of the best patties I have had outside of Jamaica. I have tried the beef, cheesy beef, veggie, jerk chicken, shrimp, and ackee and saltfish. The beef was my favorite it had a generous amount of flavorful filling and the crust had the right flakiness. The ackee and saltfish was on the other side of the spectrum as I felt there was not enough saltfish. A loaf pair better with ackee than a patty crust. All in all it was still solid. On the sweet side I had the potato pudding which brought back memories of home and was good. They do sell out of certain items so be prepared to hear that they are out of your go-to patties. Used that as a chance to try something else. Service was pleasant and accommodating to me being overwhelmed and asking to list everything they had a few times. If you like patties Taste Right is a must. If you dislike patties maybe you haven't had an authentic one and Taste rite has plenty. read more

Being an illegal immigrant with no "REAL" long-form birth certificate, sometimes I long for the food I grew up on....Jamaican Patties. God, I haven't been home in so long I feel like an "alien". But when I do go home, not my other home socialist Canada, but to Jamaica, for the first few days I only eat "Juici Patties" morning noon and night. Then after that, I drive to "Border" to literally bath in fried fish & bammy and trust me if this was served in heaven, I would be in church singing psalms to Jesus every day. Unfortunately, I am not in the land of wood & water, for now I'm in the land of the "Brave & Free". So every once in awhile I have a longing for Jamaican patties, and when I do there are only two places I go, Taste Rite and Five Star in Lauderhill. The patties are nowhere near the level of tasty fresh ingredients that we use in Jamaica, but for American standards their not bad at all. They've never given me a "tough" or bad patty. But what I love about this place is even if the patty is close to being thrown out they tell you and give you an extra fresh patty with that patty. Because of its location, parking is not the best since it's shared with several other businesses. They do not sell meals so if you want a full meal this is not the place for you. They only sell patties, breads, desserts & they have juices/drinks. There's not much seating inside so most customers order and leave. This particular visit I wanted to try something different so I got the Jerk Chicken patty. It was AMAZING!
